CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 89 - 97: Setting the Roles
Everyone in their lifetime has a period of carefree happiness.
For Jane Sampson, it was no different.
Before she turned 16, she was the Sampton Family’s princess, whose only worry in life was being told what to eat by her family due to her frail health—she thought it was the biggest worry in the world.
It was a bigger bother to her than her marriage contract with James Black.
Before she turned 16, when she got angry, she did so with reckless abandon; when she was happy, her laughter was incredibly joyful.
Those were the most innocent and blissful times for Jane, and while acting, she often found herself irresistibly recalling the purity of those times. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Perhaps it’s true that pianists generally have good memories—from a young age, memorizing music scores had made her better at remembering things than ordinary people.
Acting opposite Matthew Chip, apart from some initial nervousness, Jane gradually got into her role.
Daniel Taylor, along with several other film crew personnel sitting on the ground for evaluations, went from beginning with slightly furrowed brows to gradually relaxing as the performance continued.
Because of Rock Bell, Daniel Taylor, a director not known for giving special treatment, made a rare exception. His initial plan was that as long as Jane’s acting skills didn’t have too many faults, the role of Evelyn Woods would be hers.
But, Daniel Taylor was pleasantly surprised; the newcomer Jane gave him a great shock.
When she smiled at Matthew Chip, her on-screen brother, that smile shone brightly, filled with the playfulness of a young girl, yet measured perfectly, never overdone.
Later, she portrayed Evelyn as someone harboring immense sorrow and reluctance to part with her brother, yet still managed a perfect guise of ignorance in front of him, a feat that tugged at the viewers’ heartstrings.
She turned the role of Evelyn from a quirky and sprightly girl into one who grew up overnight—a girl who quieted down, became poised and restrained. Every gaze, every subtle gesture, was beyond criticism.
Of course, what satisfied Daniel Taylor the most was Jane’s grasp of the character’s emotions, taking away the card that controlled her brother’s fate, imprisoning him in her room, then turning to cry with a look filled with reluctant determination. All of it displayed the resilience and kindness at the core of Evelyn’s character.
"Perfect!" Daniel Taylor raised his hand and snapped his fingers without stinginess in praise, "No wonder Tin has such faith in you. Indeed beyond my expectations, you’ve brought Evelyn to life."
Personnel next to him also gushed with praise, initially following Daniel’s lead to curry favor, but now they genuinely meant it. A newcomer with such ability had earned their respect.
"This role is settled." Daniel announced on the spot. "Notify those waiting to audition that the role of Evelyn is taken." He clapped his hands decisively, "And the role of Richard goes to Matthew Chip. Seeing you two act together was quite in harmony; Richard’s role is also decided."
There was no dissent from others; they nodded and agreed, signaling their approval. After all, Matthew Chip was a newcomer with considerable popularity and adequate acting skills. The role of Richard was his after his audition; it was just that the announcement was made a bit earlier. "Thank you, director!" Jane bowed deeply in gratitude to the line of people in front, she was also completely surprised—her audition went so smoothly!
