"There’s no need to go that early, since it’s your first time going for an audition and you lack experience, I’m not at ease, so I plan to personally take you there, but I won’t be free until after 4 o’clock in the evening. Since you’re free in the afternoon, I’ve already booked our high-speed train tickets."

Jane Sampson was so excited to share this news with Nina Rice during their meal; upon hearing that Jane had the chance to audition, Nina was even more excited than Jane.

"No matter who you see, as long as it’s a handsome male actor, remember to get his autograph for me." Nina even felt the impulse to join Jane and become an actor herself.

"You’re a face-chaser." Jane teased Nina with an air of arrogance, "That’s not right! You should idolize someone who has both looks and talent!"

"Are you talking about yourself? No, no, no, in my eyes, as long as someone is good-looking, that’s enough for appreciation," Nina shook her head, completely unrepentant.

Jane was amused by Nina’s teasing.

After eating, Nina returned to the guest room to rest, while Jane cooked some tea eggs and then took several photos in the living room that radiated a sense of life. After cleaning up, she left the house keys on the tea table and, with her luggage in tow, drove away from home.

Since she was ahead of the time she had agreed with Rock Bell, Jane decided to make a detour to the guard team base, located in the suburb of Capital Province. Driving there from home without any traffic jams still took her more than an hour.

Although Jane had known Peter Gingery for a long time and had been married to James Black for several years, this was still her first visit to the National Guard Base.

Parking her car at the imposing main gate, Jane was about to take out her mobile phone to call Peter and have him come out to collect some stuff when a car behind her honked twice. Jane glanced in the rear-view mirror and pulled her car a little to the side.

She didn’t plan to go into the base, so she had to make room at the gate entrance for others.

However, what Jane didn’t expect was that the other car didn’t drive straight in, but stopped next to her. Then, when she saw the person who stepped out of the passenger seat, she was utterly shocked.

"Are you here looking for me?" James Black slightly furrowed his brows and looked at Jane, who was astonished inside the car. From a distance, he had recognized her car and remembered her license plate number.

"..." Jane was momentarily stunned, then shook her head before quickly nodding and said, "What a coincidence, since I’ve run into you, then it’s fine to look for you."

Jane didn’t get out of the car, but instead, extended her hand to take the food box from the co-pilot seat. She passed it through the window to James, "Didn’t auntie give us a basket of free-range eggs when we went home this morning?"

"Did you specifically come to give this to me?" An expression of surprise was evident on James’s face. The food box was insulated; he hadn’t opened it, nor did he know what exactly was inside, but it certainly wasn’t raw eggs.

"No, no, no, don’t get the wrong idea," Jane quickly explained, "I came specially to deliver this to Peter! I was just about to phone Peter to come out and collect it, but then I bumped into you at the gate, so, I won’t call him. You can just take this to him after you go in."

Jane spoke faster and faster, clearly intending to finish her explanation quickly and leave.

She assumed that James, who was called back to the base on an urgent summons, was most likely out executing missions or busy with other matters, so she figured her chances of encountering James at the base were zero.
