Chapter 379: Chapter 387 Movie Theme Song

"Mr. Carter," guided by James Carter’s assistant, Jane Sampson and Elizabeth King quickly arrived at James Carter’s office. When they entered, there were other people in the office, including a new female singer whose popularity was quite high.

"Here you are, please take a seat next to us," James Carter said, looking up from his desk at the two women who entered, his smile warm and gentle.

Jane Sampson nodded and found an empty spot by the tea table to sit. After sitting down, she looked around James Carter’s office, which was decorated in a simple and minimalist style, with muted colors and some linear designs that still managed to give a comfortable feeling.

Noticing two pieces of paper next to her, Jane Sampson reached out to take a look.

She was somewhat surprised— on the papers was the score of a song, separated into parts for boys and girls. Jane scanned the girls’ part and subconsciously hummed a couple of lines quietly to herself.

The papers only had the staff, without any lyrics.

Elizabeth King heard Jane’s humming, leaned over to take a look, and exclaimed, "Sister Jane, you hum so beautifully. Wow~ it’s all staff notation; I can’t understand it at all. It seems very complicated."

As a graduate in the design field, Elizabeth King was completely tone-deaf when it came to music.

"Staff notation is quite simple, I’ll teach you to read it when we have a moment," Jane Sampson said with a smile, placing the score back in its place. At this time, James Carter had already walked over and stood in front of her.

"What do you think of this song?" James Carter asked.

"Is this a new piece by Mr. Carter?" Jane Sampson curiously inquired, "This melody sounds like it carries a faint sense of melancholy when hummed."

"You could say it’s a new piece of mine, but it’s for a business collaboration," James Carter seated himself next to Jane, then continued, "And it hasn’t been set to words yet."

"Is it a business collaboration like a movie theme song or an interlude?" Elizabeth King asked, her gaze inadvertently falling on the machinery code on his leg.

"Yes, a movie theme song," James Carter nodded, "You probably know of this movie. The film is almost done wrapping up filming. There were several promotional trailers released previously. The theme of the movie is about several children who were kidnapped or went missing from a young age, and several sets of parents who have been searching for their children for decades. It’s a movie about anti-child trafficking, and this kind of movie is practically nonexistent in our domestic film industry at present. The director is the young director who just won an international award last year."

"It’s a work by Director John Young," Jane Sampson said, aware of this movie since its publicity had started from the early stages of preparation.

Most of the movie’s storyline is realistic, adapted from several stories, but for some unknown reason, up until Jane’s rebirth, this movie had continuously been delayed and had not been released. It had always been on hold.

Jane Sampson had looked forward to this film for a very long time—it could be said that not being able to see its release was one of Jane’s great regrets.

In the past, after the movie wrapped up filming, it was publicized that the theme song was created and personally sung by some mysterious big-shot, and the internet realm speculated for a long while about who it was.

Regrettably, as the film’s release was constantly delayed and netizens are known for their fleeting interest, the movie’s popularity eventually faded bit by bit. As new domestic films were released one after another, this particular movie was essentially forgotten by those who had once eagerly awaited it.
