CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 318 - 326: Just Being Angry
Jane Sampson didn’t care whether that nonsensical remark was true or false; what mattered was that it certainly infuriated her.
And sure enough, the auntie was so choked with anger that she stared at Jane Sampson with eyes as dead as a fish’s, her chest heaving with rage.
James Black, without changing his expression, pulled Jane Sampson behind him, somewhat worried that the angry woman might physically attack Jane Sampson.
When the elevator reached the seventh floor, the auntie stormed out with a belly full of fury.
Only after the auntie had left did James Black let go of Jane Sampson and allow her to step out.
"Are you that angry?" James Black couldn’t quite grasp where Jane Sampson’s temper was coming from. The auntie’s words hadn’t been an outright attack on Jane, so what was she mad about?
"I just am!" Jane Sampson huffed, trying to pull her left hand away, but the more she tugged, the tighter James held on until she looked up at him, "Let go for a second!"
Not until the elevator reached the top floor did James Black release Jane Sampson’s hand.
After gaining freedom for her left hand, Jane Sampson shook her wrist, then stood next to James Black, who was taking out his keys. She poked his chest with an air of haughty coquetry and said, "I can disapprove of you! Grandfather can disapprove of you! Auntie and uncle-in-law can disapprove of you! Grandparents can disapprove of you, nobody in this world can be free of disapproval!"
With each word, her small hand poked at James Black’s chest.
"I can criticize you every day, saying this isn’t good, that isn’t good. So what right does that auntie have? What I can say, she can’t say. What I can’t say, she especially can’t say!"
The door clicked open, and Jane Sampson flicked her head, huffing before walking in past James Black.
The whole person was like a little rooster strutting into the house.
James Black stood in the doorway, dazed for a few seconds before he came back to his senses. Subconsciously, he raised his hand to touch his chest, which Jane Sampson had poked several times. She hadn’t used much strength, yet it felt oddly tingly. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Huh." He suddenly chuckled, the corners of his mouth curling slightly as he followed her inside.
Upon getting home, Jane Sampson sprawled on the sofa in a slouch, her hand holding the script she had brought back from the company in the afternoon.
Only when James Black came closer did she notice that beneath the script, also lay her mobile phone, her fingertips tapping on the mobile phone screen.
"Would you like some water?" James Black stood next to her and watched her for a while. As Jane Sampson hadn’t given him a glance, he asked.
"Yes." Jane Sampson uttered a single word without barely moving her lips.
James Black turned and went into the kitchen. Jane Sampson glanced in the direction of the kitchen when her mobile phone suddenly rang. Seeing an unfamiliar number on the screen, she sat up and answered it.
"Hello, good day," Jane Sampson said as she picked up, wondering who it could be. Unexpectedly, the voice that came through the phone left her completely astonished.
"Is this Miss Sampson? This is James Carter."
Even before hearing those three words — James Carter — Jane Sampson recognized the voice, but it wasn’t until he stated his name that she truly froze.
Perhaps because it had been quiet for a few seconds without a response from Jane Sampson, James Carter thought he had dialed the wrong number and hurriedly asked, "Sorry, did I get the wrong number?"
"No," Jane Sampson replied, her voice shaking a bit, "Sorry, I’m just shocked. I didn’t expect you to call me out of the blue."
Realizing her voice was trembling too much, Jane Sampson apologized with a shy laugh, "You can tell, right? I’m so excited I can’t even speak properly."
