Chapter 305: Chapter 313: The Stingy Ghost

Jane Sampson’s explanation was flawless, and even her expression could be considered perfect.

James Black, who had been somewhat skeptical initially, believed her after Jane’s explanation, and his expression softened a lot. To James, the fact that Jane was learning to take care of her own body was a good sign.

While James read a book next to her, Jane went to the bedroom to fetch her pad, preparing to catch up on some highly rated internet shows and to study the acting skills of the older generation.

After opening the app for watching dramas, Jane sprawled herself on the sofa, clutching the pad with her armpit and holding the potato chips James had opened for her in her hand. She scanned the living room with her little eyes and finally fixed her gaze on James’s side.

She tiptoed back to James’s side, and seeing that he wasn’t paying her any attention, she leaned her back against him. Then, she pulled out the pad from her armpit, placed it on her knees, and, after putting the potato chips on her belly, she began her cozy and enjoyable time.

In James’s ears, all he heard were Jane’s giggles resembling a mother hen’s clucking and the crunchy sound of her biting into the potato chips. James shuddered his shoulders, and the next second, he heard Jane yelp as the pad fell to the ground. She turned around and glared at him with puffed cheeks, "James Black! You did that on purpose!"

James didn’t argue because he had indeed done it on purpose.

"You petty man!" Jane bent down to pick up the pad from the floor, and when she turned her head and noticed James smiling, she resisted the urge to smash the pad on his handsome face.

After teasing Jane, James composed his expression, and after she settled back on the sofa, he reached out and placed a backrest pillow behind her lower back, then set her pad on the tea table, "It’s better for your back if you sit like this while watching."

After the reminder, and seeing Jane find a comfortable position, James stood up and asked, "What would you like for lunch?"

"Didn’t you buy some fatty beef slices? How about sour soup beef for lunch? Or hot and sour beef soup would be nice too. Kane Forest said he makes it very tasty, and I chatted with him for a while at the supermarket, enough to get my cravings all stirred up." Jane looked up at James with genuine enthusiasm in her reply.

James snorted coldly, "I’m not Kane Forest."

After saying that, he turned and headed into the kitchen without another word, leaving Jane confused.

What was he throwing a fit about all of a sudden?

Is the mood of men always this fickle? Just now he seemed amiable and open to discussion, but suddenly his demeanor changed.

Once James entered the kitchen, he let out a heavy sigh and then took out his mobile phone to google how to make sour soup beef and hot and sour beef soup. After checking the information thoroughly, James was rather skeptical of Jane’s words.

He thought, would someone like Kane Forest, who manages a large company day in and day out, really have time to cook at home, especially such a complex dish?

James figured Jane must have been tricked by Kane.

Therefore, he decided to try making green pepper stir-fried beef, a simple dish that didn’t require much culinary skill.

For someone like James, who could only cook noodles, even making a simple dish like green pepper stir-fried beef meant he couldn’t do without the help of an app like google.

Jane listened for a while from the living room, guessing from the noises coming from the kitchen that James was washing vegetables and cutting meat. She then refocused her attention on the TV series on her pad.
