CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 226 - 234: So Funny
Listening in, Jane Sampson burst out laughing directly, unable to contain herself as she turned her head to glance at the couple behind her, and then mischievously leaned on James Black’s back and snickered.
That guy, she had a premonition that once they were down the mountain, he might just be back to being single.
Jane could tell the girl in the couple was super upset, so Jane thought, she didn’t mind James Black’s low emotional intelligence after all, since there were certainly people in this world with even lower EQ than him.
At least James knew for sure that one should never say a girl is fat, as it would make her unhappy.
"What’s so funny?" James didn’t understand what made Jane laugh, just a single sentence from someone could amuse her so much.
Funny, right?
James didn’t find the lovers’ conversation funny.
"Funny," Jane finally contained her laughter and her voice still trembled as she spoke.
After the people ahead had sufficiently rested and continued upward, James then carried Jane and moved forward again, noting that those descending the mountain were having an easier time than those going up.
Unlike the ascent that had a rope ladder, the descent was entirely dependent on trudging down through the sand.
Some tourists were families out for leisure, with young children who would be carried down by their fathers, probably out of fear the children might play too rough and roll down.
On James’ back, Jane noticed a young girl being carried down by her father kept looking at her, so she smiled at the particularly cute young girl.
The young girl was quite shy and immediately buried her face into her father’s back, then asked him in a crisp voice, "Daddy, why does that big sister still need that uncle to carry her?"
Little children, not knowing some things should be asked quietly—the young girl’s voice was not soft, and the people nearby heard her loud and clear. The young girl’s dad, feeling quite embarrassed, looked over in Jane’s direction.
Uncle?
James internally snorted; he was an uncle? Why did Jane, whose whole face was wrapped up, get to be the sister?
Jane was about to burst out laughing internally, then tightened her arms around him, imitating the young girl’s earlier action by burying her face in James’ back, and said crisply, "Daddy, that little girl laughed at me, daddy let me down, I want to walk by myself!"
On James’ back, Jane could distinctly feel a shudder run through his body. He turned his face to her with those deep and somewhat ominous black pupils.
"Jane Sampson, are you under the impression that I really wouldn’t dare to toss you down?"
Jane’s heart skipped a beat. Oh no, she had pushed it too far—daddy Black was mad.
"I was wrong," Jane admitted defeat instantly.
She was sure James wouldn’t actually throw her down, but she wasn’t certain he wouldn’t find some other way to teach her a lesson and make her behave properly. The atmosphere turned awkwardly tense.
Jane calmed down and became obedient, no longer swinging her old legs, nor tightly wrapping her little hands around James’ neck.
More than half an hour later, James finally reached the mountain peak carrying Jane, and just as those who had descended earlier complained, the wind and sand at the mountain top were unimaginably harsh. Even Jane, wearing a scarf, could feel the sensation of the wind carrying sand across her face.
"Let me down," Jane tapped on James’ shoulder to indicate that he should put her down.
However, she didn’t expect James to suddenly loosen his grip and let her drop straight onto the sandy ground. Caught off guard, she fell onto the sand, dumbfounded.
