The young man’s injury was treated by James Black. James didn’t show any special skill in treating external wounds here, as he tried to be as gentle as possible when applying medicine to Jane Sampson. However, there was no such concern when treating the young man.
"Was the steel pipe head he was holding sharp?" James Black lifted the young man’s shirt and saw the wound, realizing that if not, a mere hit wouldn’t have resulted in such a severe injury.
"And there were nails," the young man sneered. "It was practically a custom-made weapon."
James Black’s eyes darkened slightly, and when he treated the wounds, he showed no leniency, causing the young man to cry out in pain several times.
"Bro Strongman, just because I’m a man, you can’t be unkind to me. Share some of that gentleness you have for Jane Sampson with me~" The young man gasped in pain.
"This medicine hurts by nature," James Black replied bluntly. "Even for Jane Sampson, it hurts, but I can kiss her; I can’t very well kiss you, can I?"
"Kiss her? Why would you kiss her when you apply medicine?" The young man, confused, asked out of curiosity.
"Her arm hurts, kissing her distracts her, so it doesn’t hurt as much," James Black replied earnestly. "This method is very effective."
"Of course it’s effective, the pain in the arm is gone, but the heart hurts instead. Doesn’t she wish she could just kill you?" the young man said, bursting into laughter as if he found it particularly amusing.
"By the way, wasn’t she practically going to die earlier? How is she now?" the young man asked.
"Same as before, doesn’t eat or drink, everything was forced down," James Black said. "Later, her body was too weak to handle it and she fell asleep on her own."
"Bro Strongman, don’t be discouraged, try a few more times. Women, when they get pregnant, become more settled," the young man patted James Black’s shoulder.
However, his words caused James Black’s hand to pause in its action.
James Black had spent enough time with this young man, but the young man always managed to say things that astonished James Black.
It also made James Black curious about what kind of environment this young man grew up in, leading him to treat human life so nonchalantly and say things that normal people find hard to comprehend.
James Black did not reply, but continued to bow his head and help the young man with his wounds. The young man was used to his brother’s taciturn nature and assumed James Black had taken his advice to heart.
After the wounds were dealt with, the young man returned to his room to rest, and James Black collected the medicine from the living room and brought it back upstairs.
When he entered the room, Jane Sampson was sitting in bed with her eyes open.
As soon as he closed the door and walked in, she anxiously asked, "Where did you go?"
Waking up in the middle of the night to find James Black neither by her side nor in the room gave Jane quite a fright.
"Went downstairs to handle something," James Black mentioned the young man’s injury to Jane Sampson, then hugged her again, letting her continue to rest and regain her strength.
