CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 2015 - 2023: Redemption
"No surprises, three days later." Old Master Black mentioned this time and a smile appeared on his face, "You come back, and at this time you go out shopping to buy stuff, do you want people to think you’re happy that the little lass is dying?"
Peter Gingery nearly stumbled underfoot, "Ah?"
He was stunned for a moment, then reluctantly walked back, suddenly laughing, "Then I’ll ask Aunt to buy them!"
The Black family’s Aunt has been in the house for several decades and watched Jane Sampson grow up. These few days, with Jane Sampson getting into trouble, Aunt was so worried that she couldn’t even eat. The time Jane is supposed to return wasn’t kept from Aunt because, after all, once Jane is back, Aunt will have to help take care of her.
At the police station, Harper Black received a call from Old Master Black at 7 p.m. This call lasted a full ten plus minutes before hanging up.
After hanging up, Harper pulled Brooke Black to a quiet place and talked for a long time. After the conversation, Harper stayed at the police station, while Brooke caught the express train and personally went to the city where the Carter family resides, preparing to visit Old Madam Carter in the hospital.
As it happened, when Brooke arrived, Joseph Shaw happened to be taking Jillian Carter to visit the two elders in the hospital.
The three of them met downstairs at the hospital. Joseph, knowing the relationship between Brooke and Jane Sampson, recognized Brooke and greeted her.
Jillian Carter turned her head away, pretending not to see.
Brooke was too tired to bother reprimanding Jillian for her lack of etiquette, responding to Joseph with a simple nod. After days of mental exhaustion, the fatigue was evident even without trying to hide it.
"Are you here to visit Old Madam Carter as well? How is she? After all, she is Jane’s grandma, and Jane doesn’t know where she is now. I have to come look after her, lest when Jane comes back and finds the old lady ill, she’ll feel guilty. My Jane, she’s so kind."
Brooke said the last sentence intentionally for Jillian to hear.
"I heard from Brother, Granny’s doing okay. Those things online, we’re keeping from Old Sir and Old Madam," Joseph pretended not to catch Brooke’s hint, focusing only on Granny Carter’s condition.
Jillian stood aside, totally ignored. She held back the words buried in her heart for a long time before finally swallowing them down — who said Jane Sampson would definitely come back?
She temporarily didn’t have the courage to say such words in front of Brooke.
The three of them went into the ward, but Old Sir Carter wouldn’t let Joseph and Jillian in.
Because of Jane Sampson’s incident, the two elders were in a bad mood, understandably lashing out at Joseph and Jillian due to the photo incident.
But since Brooke was a guest and also Jane’s auntie, Old Sir Carter let her in.
Joseph understood the elders’ current emotions, so when he was stopped at the door, he didn’t get upset. Instead, he handed over the fruits and flowers he brought to James Carter, who was standing by the ward door, asking him to pass them on, and then pulled away the fuming and stubborn Jillian.
"Jane’s situation has made grandpa and grandma upset and short-tempered, please understand." James Carter explained for the two elders while seeing Joseph to the elevator entrance.
"I understand," Joseph nodded, "Big Brother, no need to see me off, go back and accompany grandpa and grandma. We’re family, no need for such courtesies. I’ll take Jillian back first, and once their mood stabilizes, we’ll come visit again."
