CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1975 - 1983: Don’t Hurt Him
But she hadn’t run two steps when she heard the person behind her sneer softly.
"Let’s see if you run fast or my gun is faster."
At the sound of the voice, Jane Sampson slowly turned around and saw a masked man holding a gun, its muzzle pointed at James Carter’s temple.
Jane Sampson’s heart jolted, and her legs instantly felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move anymore.
"Don’t harm him," Jane Sampson’s voice trembled, "I beg you, don’t harm him."
"Come here," the man stood there holding the gun motionless, issuing orders to Jane Sampson. Seeing her still standing there unmoved, he shook the gun in his hand threateningly.
Jane Sampson had no choice but to take two steps back to her original position.
Only then did the man slowly move the muzzle towards Jane Sampson, but he did not fire, instead he used the handkerchief that covered James Carter’s face to suddenly cover Jane Sampson’s mouth and nose.
Jane Sampson was caught off guard; when she wanted to hold her breath, it was late, and she fainted on the ground.
But she hadn’t inhaled too much, so lying on the ground, she was still somewhat clear-headed.
"Your response is quite quick," the man, as if he had discovered something amusing, stared down at Jane Sampson from a high position. After a few seconds, he bent down again to cover Jane Sampson.
Jane Sampson was already out of strength to resist. She bit her tongue, using the pain to maintain her last shred of reason and consciousness.
Her eyelids felt heavy and were drooping; she saw the man slowly raising the gun towards James Carter, and she heard the sound of him pulling the trigger.
With her last bit of strength, she reached out to pinch the man’s trousers leg, weakly pleading, "Please... don’t hurt him... don’t hurt them... please..."
The last word was left unspoken as Jane Sampson fainted.
The man held the gun, stared at Jane Sampson’s face for a few seconds, finally put the gun away, picked up Jane Sampson from the ground, and stuffed her into the car.
But he didn’t expect that the bodyguard with a crushed leg would suddenly rush out, holding a baton and swinging it at him.
Caught off guard, the man took a solid hit on the back, almost dropping Jane Sampson to the ground.
The masked man turned around and shot Grid in the belly; then he threw Jane Sampson into the car backseat, without approaching the bodyguard who had been shot and was lying on the ground, and went back into the car.
He started the car, with a clear target, directly driving towards where the bodyguard lay, intending to run over him.
Coco Edwards sluggishly woke up at this time.
In moments of crisis, a person’s body can unleash unbelievable strength.
Coco Edwards nearly crawled over, grabbed Grid’s arm, and quickly pulled him back in her direction at the fastest speed.
When she was exhausted, clutching Grid’s wrist tightly while lying to one side, she turned her head to see the rear tire of the car just barely pass by the edge of Grid’s suit trousers.
If it had been a second later, Grid’s leg, or possibly his body, would surely be under the car tire.
"Jane~" Coco Edwards leaned weakly against that, her eyes red, watching the car speed away with Jane Sampson, leaving behind her implementation.
"I put a tracker in the car," Grid’s face was pale, "You immediately call your boss, I’ll contact President Black."
