CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1576 - 1584: Guard Against Everything
After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson sat in the bed, furrowing her eyebrows and thinking for a long time.
When James Black returned with her medicine, he saw her daydreaming. He thought she was pondering work-related issues, so he didn’t disturb her and went straight to the kitchen to heat up her medicine.
But when he finished heating the medicine and brought the bowl to Jane, she was still in the same expression and pose, deep in thought, completely unaware of his arrival.
"Drink the medicine." James Black sat in front of Jane Sampson and handed her the bowl.
Jane Sampson was afraid of burning herself, so James didn’t heat the medicine too much. She took the bowl, lowered her head, and, like a little cat, tested the temperature of the dark-colored medicine with her tongue. Finding it just right, she closed her eyes and gulped it down.
She drank the entire large bowl in just a short while.
"Ah~ so bitter, so bitter~" Jane handed the empty bowl back to James, sticking out her tongue in bitterness. There’s no such thing as not bitter when it comes to Chinese medicine, and along with its overwhelming smell, Jane didn’t dare to even burp.
"Open your mouth." James chuckled at Jane, then took a lollipop out of his pocket, unwrapped it, and placed the whole candy in Jane’s open mouth.
With the candy, Jane’s bitter face finally looked somewhat pleasant.
She curiously poked the candy wrapper in James’s hand and exclaimed, "Did you take this from my purse?"
"Yeah." James nodded.
"Hmph, you actually stole my candy!" Jane took the candy out of her mouth, now speaking more clearly, "Guard against everything, except James Black."
"Whose mouth is the candy in now?" James raised his eyebrows questioningly.
"Mine." Jane pointed to herself.
"As long as you know." James got up, took the empty bowl out, rinsed it, and returned to the bedroom to finally ask Jane, "What were you thinking so seriously about just now?"
"Sister Tin called me just now and she said..." Then Jane shared Rock Bell’s suspicion with him. After finishing, she waved her fist, "Once I find out who betrayed me, watch me beat them up!"
James nodded. Since Rock Bell hadn’t called him about the studio issues, it meant she could temporarily handle them without needing his help.
As long as they find out who betrayed Jane, they can naturally trace down who’s targeting her and stealing her various notices.
"I kept thinking just now, who would spend so much money and energy dealing with me." Jane clicked her tongue, "I’m so adorable; there shouldn’t be any enemies? It’s not scientific at all."
"Jillian Carter?" James immediately thought of her because Jillian had quite the knack for causing trouble without benefiting herself, which matched her style.
"Could it be her? She’s getting married today. On such a big, happy day, would she even have time to deal with me?" Jane shook her head, "She wouldn’t be that bored, would she? Moreover, with the affair at D’s, as the bride-to-be, she’d be very busy, surely wouldn’t have time for these things?"
Having been a bride herself, Jane knew far too well how busy a bride-to-be is before marriage.
Every day there’s a heap of decisions to be made; even if she wanted to be hands-off, it wouldn’t be possible.
The wedding dress needs to be chosen and tailored, the ring customized, and the various wedding processes require the bride’s personal involvement.
