Chapter 147: Chapter 155: Heard Enough

First, Jane Sampson had not added James Black on WhatsApp; moreover, James Black did not have a hobby of touching other people’s mobile phones, which Jane still found quite trustworthy.

It was only after Jane had climbed into bed that James put down the book in his hands and turned off the electric light in the room. Once the warm yellow bedhead lamp went out, the entire room was plunged into darkness, silent and still.

Perhaps due to the experiences of the first two times, this time Jane really wasn’t surprised at all when she lay down and felt a hand pulling her forward.

So this time, Jane had learned her lesson. Just as James’s fingertips barely touched her, she swiftly dodged his hand like a slippery eel. She managed to evade the empty grasp, which groped around where she had been just moments before. Jane couldn’t help but laugh with a bit of glee, unable to restrain the sound of her laughter.

It was that very laughter that betrayed her. The next second, James’s hand landed on her waist, and with lightning speed, he swept her entire body into his arms, his strength so great and his action so swift that Jane had no time to escape.

"What are you dodging?" James’s voice was deep. Feeling the person in his arms wriggling like a caterpillar, he suddenly let out a low laugh, "Don’t you like the scent of my aftershave? Then get closer and take a good whiff."

"I’ve smelled enough, smelled enough," Jane’s reply was so soft it was like the flapping of a fly’s wings, barely audible. The scent of aftershave lingered in the bathroom, shattered by her. Moreover, even if she did like it, she didn’t have a hobby of hiding in a man’s arms to enjoy the scent.

"I never noticed before that you could make such a fuss. I’m quite curious about how you used to spend your days at home when I was not around," he said, seemingly admiring her for being a virtuous wife, yet clearly she was quite scatterbrained.

In front of him, she lived as if she was in a TV series, meticulously perfect. But when she was alone, it was quite the opposite, seemingly rough around the edges.

"Free and easy, without any restraints," Jane said, placing her hands between James’s body and her own in an attempt to avoid direct contact with his body as much as possible.

Regarding James’s question, she succinctly summarized her response with a forceful mix of eight characters and two idioms, holding back from voicing the full sentiment of feeling carefree like an immortal.

However, James’s attention was evidently not on her answer, but rather on her movements, which she thought she had pretended not to care about so convincingly.

The moment her palm touched him, he reached out and removed her hand, then flipping over, he ended up pressing his entire body upon hers.

The light inside the room was dim, and Jane couldn’t see James’s face clearly, but she could feel his breath hitting the tip of her nose. He was so close to her.

The only thing was, she couldn’t discern his expression.

Jane could feel the body heat of the person lying on top of her seemed scorchingly intense. He pressed down on her, apparently deep in thought, not moving, not speaking, just waiting until Jane called out to him and tried to push the body off hers, that’s when his kiss suddenly descended upon her.

Gentle and soft, meticulous and tender.

As if it were the gentlest caress between lips, a soft peck, his palm supported the back of her head, while his other hand gently caressed her waist.

Perhaps starting to feel unsatisfied, he began to invade her mouth, frenetically claiming the territory that belonged to her, his body fitting her own without a single gap.

This kiss was never simple, nor was it a pure-hearted intimacy.
