CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1462 - 1470: Getting Angry is Useless
No one expected it, but James Black drove straight out and took Jane Sampson to a veteran Chinese medicine doctor. He pressed Jane Sampson’s hand onto the table, ignoring her glaring face full of anger. Unaffected, he insisted the doctor prescribe some more Chinese medicine to help her recuperate. Forty minutes later, James Black was holding Jane Sampson’s hand in one hand and carrying the prescribed medicine in the other.
Even after they got back to the car, Jane Sampson still refused to acknowledge James Black.
She was fuming.
Back then, she had said she’d take James Black to the hospital for a full check-up on the eighth lunar day. But instead of going to the hospital, he dragged her here. "Getting angry won’t help. Angry or not, you still have to take the medicine." James Black placed the medicine on the rear seat, turned his head, and noticed Jane Sampson looking like an angry pufferfish. Not only did he not comfort her, but he also reached out and poked her puffed-up cheek. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Jane Sampson was utterly dumbfounded, staring at James Black’s mischievous hand on her face.
So, not only did he not comfort her even though he knew she was mad, but he also had the gall to poke her face?
"If your health isn’t good, you need to start taking care of yourself early." James Black leaned over to fasten her seatbelt and said, "Once you start working again, I’ll inform your assistant to make sure you take your medicine every day."
"Are you the devil?" Jane Sampson grumbled, swatting his hand away. "I’ve been taking medicine since I was a child, and I finally managed to put that behind me. I’ve gotten used to it, sure, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy it!"
"When the weather cools down, your hands and feet turn ice-cold, and your belly hurts during menstruation. If you don’t take care of yourself, you’re only making it hard on yourself." As soon as winter started, every time James Black felt Jane Sampson’s ice-cold palms, he wanted to bring her here, but he hadn’t had the time until today.
This was the first winter James Black spent holding her hand, which was when he first learned that some people could have hands and feet as cold as ice in the winter.
Every night, he held her close, trying his best to warm up her hands and feet. But even after an entire night, he’d touch her hands again and find they were still cold. It wasn’t until she was about to wake up that her hands and feet would finally have a hint of warmth.
James Black would ask Jane Sampson each time if she felt uncomfortably cold. She would just cling to him, acting spoiled, snuggling into his arms like he was a big furnace, and tell him that as long as she was hugging him, she wouldn’t feel cold. She never said anything useful, though.
"I’ll take you out for hotpot tonight," James Black said. By now, he knew exactly how to cheer her up.
Food always worked—it was foolproof.
"Earthen hot pot?" Jane Sampson’s eyebrows twitched, and she instantly looked intrigued.
"Mm-hmm. Tonight, there’s a gathering with Thomas Lancaster and the others, and I’ve asked them to set the location at a hot pot restaurant," James Black said with a nod. "You’re allowed to have a little bit of chili peppers."
Jane Sampson immediately brightened up. "Alright~"
She chirped happily, responding crisply, and her face was instantly adorned with a big, bright smile.
Jane Sampson and James Black had told Old Master Black and the others a few days earlier that they’d return to Black Residence on this day. Even Oliver Black and his family were at Black Residence this time. Throughout the year, there were very few occasions when the Black Family could gather like this.
Oliver Black’s little toddler had recently grown particularly fond of Jane Sampson. The moment he saw her, he dashed over, clinging to her leg with his little arms, and said in a sweet, childish voice, "Auntie, I saw you on TV! Wow, Auntie, you looked like a fairy! So beautiful!"
That’s right—the little fellow had watched the Spring Festival Gala together with his family, and when Jane Sampson and James Carter appeared on stage, his eyes were glued to the screen. When his mom mentioned that the pretty sister singing was his Auntie Jane, the little guy had immediately remembered her.
Ever since then, he’d been pestering everyone daily to take him to grandpa’s house to see his Auntie.
Now, he’d finally gotten his wish.
