Chapter 1458: Chapter 1466 Lack of Discipline

James Carter stayed in the living room for a while before knocking on the study door and walking in.

Inside, the two elders were sitting next to each other, each holding a book and reading. When James entered, Old Sir Carter raised his eyelids slightly and said, "Close the door."

James obeyed, closed the door, and then walked further inside.

Granny Carter placed her book down and said, "Saying you’re staying to accompany me and your grandpa is fake, but staying to persuade me and your grandpa is real. You came in to try and convince us to let Jillian go back with you, didn’t you?"

"Nothing ever escapes the two of you," James responded with a faint smile, admitting the truth. "Jillian has been here with you both for several months now. She’s a young girl, so naturally, she wouldn’t enjoy staying here too long."

"This place isn’t a holiday villa for me and your grandma. The initial intention of your father sending her here wasn’t for her to take a vacation," Old Sir Carter said. "Her dad and mom couldn’t handle her, so your grandma and I stepped in to help discipline her."

"Jillian already knows she was in the wrong and has been here for quite some time. After she goes back, she should improve," James spoke up to defend Jillian.

No matter what happened in the past, Jillian was still his younger sister. James wished she could find some happiness. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Your grandma and I have seen more people in our lives than you’ve eaten bowls of rice. Whether someone is truly regretful and repentant, we can tell with our hearts," Old Sir Carter grumbled. "This time, we must teach her properly!"

"I agree with your grandpa," Granny Carter also weighed in. "Jillian really does lack discipline."

James took a deep breath and then sat down in front of the two elders.

"Grandpa, Grandma, I understand. Because of my situation, you have a bias against Jillian, which makes you more harsh on her. But Jillian..."

Before James could finish his sentence, Granny Carter interrupted him. "Since you brought up our bias against Jillian, let me address this. Your grandpa and I won’t deny it—yes, we are indeed dissatisfied with her. We can even say we don’t like her."

Old Sir Carter and Granny Carter’s dislike for Jillian wasn’t because she was a girl. The two elders weren’t the type to value sons over daughters. In fact, when Jillian was younger, they were exceptionally doting toward her.

"You’re her brother. Back then, because of her selfishness and recklessness, she caused you to end up like you are now. Yet she didn’t repent, didn’t feel any guilt, and even lied to the family, claiming she was abroad. Add these two matters together, and they are more than enough for your grandpa and me to strongly dislike her."

The mention of these two events still left Granny Carter simmering with anger. "In any case, I can’t find a reason to feel affection for her right now."

"Grandma, all of that is in the past," James knew that the situation with his leg had always weighed heavily on his grandparents and had deeply affected their feelings toward Jillian.

"For us, whether it’s in the past or not depends on Jillian’s attitude toward you and toward this family," Old Sir Carter snapped as he tossed the book in his hand onto the table in frustration. "And she hasn’t shown your grandma or me any attitude worthy of forgiveness. On the contrary, everything she has done in the past half year has repeatedly made us dislike her more."

"You only know that your father brought her here from the Capital Province out of anger this time, but do you know the real cause of his outrage?" Old Sir Carter sneered coldly. "If it were merely because she clashed with some small actor, your father wouldn’t have been so furious."
