CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1419 - 1427: Not a Phone
So, after all that talking, it was really because she couldn’t bear to see her dumplings getting ruined by James Black, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
James Black willingly let go, and when it comes to culinary skills, Jane Sampson indeed had grounds to look down on him.
After handing over the spatula to Jane Sampson, James Black didn’t move away. As soon as his hand was free, he wrapped it around Jane’s waist, holding her from behind just as she had held him a moment ago.
At 168 cm, Jane was definitely not short among girls, but next to James Black, she still seemed petite and delicate. With her slim frame, James was afraid he might break her if he used too much strength.
The water in the pot slowly began to heat up, and the dumplings gradually started to float.
The ringtone from Jane’s phone in her pocket suddenly went off, different from her usual one. While reaching to help her get the phone, James asked, "Did you change your ringtone?"
"It’s not a call." Jane pressed down on James’ hand and gently shook her head, then suddenly turned around to face him, like a silly girl holding a spatula in one hand and grabbing his arm with the other.
Just as James was puzzled about what she was planning to do, Jane suddenly tiptoed and kissed him on the lips.
A gentle peck, light as a dragonfly touching the water.
Then she said in a coy voice, "James Black, happy New Year!"
James Black was taken aback.
"I’m the first person to wish you a happy New Year!
She was very happy, her eyes curving into crescent moons as she smiled.
"Finally, there’s someone who lets me be the first to wish them happy New Year at this time of the night." Jane Sampson felt an indescribable satisfaction in her heart.
Because he was there with her, because of his presence, she could be the first one to wish him a happy New Year. Just this alone made Jane feel that the world had not abandoned her.
"My phone has an alarm set for midnight on New Year’s every year. I’ve always wanted to find someone to wish a happy New Year to, to be the first person to bless them in the new year, but I never found anyone."
Jane’s voice gradually lowered, "Nina Rice is my best friend, but her first New Year’s blessing comes from her dad and mom. Bright Sampton also has parents, and the first blessing always comes from them, never from me."
Everybody has their own family around them, whether it is a wife, a husband, or parents.
It seems she is always alone.
Yet, she never deactivated the alarm in her phone for this day.
She still thought, maybe one day, she could be someone’s only one; maybe one day, that person would save their first New Year’s blessing for her.
"James Black, before this, I never knew that falling in love with you could make me this happy, this joyful." Jane gently bit her lip, "Thank you."
With every word she spoke, James’s heart ached more and more until finally, he was deeply moved and embraced her in his arms.
In the eyes of others, such a small thing, but in her heart, it was a treasured ceremony.
James Black did not know, during each past New Year, what Jane Sampson felt as she heard people around her wishing each other a happy New Year.
"From now on, every New Year, I want the first blessing to come from you." James’s broad palm gently patted her head, "My first blessing is also for you."
