CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1416 - 1424: Still Acceptable
Her voice was exactly what he had been searching for and liked, and she, indeed, was a very hardworking and outstanding individual.
James Carter never felt that he owed Jane Sampson any favors.
Or rather, he had more guilt towards Jane than anything else, because Jillian Carter had done many things that hurt her in the past.
After changing her clothes, Jane Sampson first sent red envelopes to Lucy, Harry Little Money, and the driver who had been waiting for her the whole day, and then let the three of them go home first before she grabbed her stuff and ran to the parking lot.
There was still some time before the end of the evening party, so the parking lot was almost empty at this time.
As soon as Jane Sampson arrived at the parking lot, she didn’t walk more than a dozen meters before she spotted the tall figure leaning against the car. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"James Black!"
From a distance, Jane Sampson called out loudly to him and then ran over to the man, letting herself crash heavily into the arms of the man who had already opened them, waiting for her.
Jane Sampson ran quickly, and with that charge, James Black had to lean back as he embraced her.
Listening to the giggling laughter of the woman in his arms, James Black could not find it within him to reproach her for her recklessness.
"Didn’t you say you might not come? How come you sneakily appeared back stage?" Jane Sampson, on tiptoes, rubbed her face against James Black’s shoulder, clinging to him like a little kitten desperately seeking affection.
"If I had the time, I’d come," James Black replied, holding the person in his arms and not willing to let go in the slightest.
"Did I sing well?" Jane Sampson looked up at James Black eagerly seeking praise, her eyes filled with anticipation.
James Black raised an eyebrow and hummed, "Passable."
Jane Sampson’s face scrunched up, and she huffed, "Passable means really good, right?"
James Black did not answer but instead took Jane Sampson’s hand and felt it; it was, indeed, cold.
"Get in the car, let’s go home." James Black took off the scarf around his neck and wrapped it solidly and snugly around Jane Sampson.
Jane Sampson smiled and reached out to touch the scarf, still carrying James Black’s warmth, obediently nodded, and got into the car. Only after James Black had driven out of the underground parking lot did Jane Sampson start to feel truly warm again.
Even with heating in the broadcast studio, on such a cold day, wearing that thin gauze dress, she was still mercilessly cold.
"Is there food at home?" Coming to her senses, Jane Sampson touched her belly. "I haven’t eaten properly all day, I’m hungry."
"There is." James Black originally wanted to suggest they go and eat something first, but the words were on the tip of his tongue when he remembered that at this time of the day, it might be hard to find a place for a late-night snack.
"Then you drive, and I’ll check twitter to see what everyone’s saying about Mr. Carter’s and my performance tonight." Jane Sampson, reassured there was food, was quick to turn on her mobile phone and check twitter.
Although the performance with James Carter had just ended a short while ago, a quick search on twitter instantly brought up a torrent of posts.
There were many screenshots and videos posted by fans. Jane Sampson browsed for several minutes and, seeing that the comments on the internet realm were all positive, felt relieved.
"I also think I performed exceptionally well tonight!" Having stored away her phone, Jane Sampson’s chatty spirit came back to life. "But do you know? I was nervous the entire day! I was really afraid that my performance tonight wouldn’t be good, not only wasting this opportunity but also dragging Mr. Carter down. Thankfully, I met everyone’s expectations and delivered a perfect performance."
