CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 47: Breather
The home gym is already bright even before the sun rises up. Grunts, pants, huffs, punches, and kicks against the leather equipment can be heard throughout.
Last night Rei reported to Henry that there was an arranged marriage talk between Amy and Ash’s fathers according to Mary’s dad, after hearing it from Amy’s dad while he was driving him around. And he can already guess why Lucas Brighton is that much interested in Amy’s family.
Rei and Henry woke up early to train in the home gym and right now Henry is infuriated with what he found out. After sparring quite a few times Henry is still not tired and needs more punching to calm himself down.
"Dude can you tone it down a little, my hands already hurt," Rei complained after wearing the boxing pads for almost one hour with non-stop punching from Henry. They got down to sparring right after they woke up at 4:00 am and it was almost 6:00 am, but his friend is still having too much energy.
"Getting weak, I see," Henry uttered as he continue to throw punches at Rei.
"Perhaps, but we both know that you have this insane pool of energy, are you even human? You’re not putting it to good use lately, so you are taking it out on me. That is so unfair. Why not take it out on Amy instead?" Rei rolled his eyes as he step back after receiving heavy punches from Henry.
"Shut up, you should not have refused then when I told you to bring Dave with you," Henry rebutted without stopping his punches.
"Yeah, and I am regretting that now," Rei said. "Can we at least take a breather?" He finally protested.
Henry did not reply but he stopped striking Rei and walk towards the bench.
"Do you think Amy is aware of it?" Rei asks before he gulps down the newly opened bottled water all the way down.
"I don’t know, I don’t want to ask. Last night she sounded like she was only complying with our contract. I am not 100% sure if she really likes me at least, if not... F*ck! I hate this! The amount that she needs is no joke. I don’t think the board will approve it," Henry hasn’t been this worried about something before, he is not used to it. But with Amy on the line, he cannot afford to lose in this battle.
"So what’s your plan? I feel bad for you man. You have money, but you can’t take it out when you needed it, at least not yet," Rei asked.
"I’m waiting for Anton, but honestly, I can either force the board or get married, those are my only options. My uncle will not be happy if something bad happens to the board plus, I can’t they’re almost family," he knows that the board will totally reject his proposal once he brings that to the table.
If only he can make Amy marry him then all their problems will be solved, but how when he is not even sure of how is she feeling towards him? 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"So, are you just gonna let Amy lose everything?" Rei was curious how will Henry solve Amy’s situation.
"It’s her father’s fault, where did he even use that insanely huge amount of money? What was he even thinking?" Their squabble was cut off when Amy entered the gym.
"I thought we were going to jog? But I guess you’re done with your daily workout," she crossed her arms as she pouted. She woke up without Henry by her side when they planned to do a morning run today.
Henry quickly walks to her and held both her arms. He planted a soft kiss on her forehead before looking into her eyes. "We will still do, old man Rei here is tired already and I still have a lot of energy left, so shall we?"
The couple then walked out of the gym leaving Rei behind. Rei just shook his head, they didn’t even bother saying goodbye to him. The sight of the two makes him happy, he had seen how lifeless and emotionless Henry can be, trying to suppress all the emotions that he has.
He had been a good friend and boss to him and all he wants is for him find someone that will love him and take care of him. He deserves it after everything that had happened to his life.
Rei took his phone and dialed a number, "Did you find the man?"
[Not yet boss, but we have a lead. Just a heads up, he might not talk willingly,] the man on the other line said.
"Do what it takes, just keep him safe and sound until we get back," Rei then ended the call and went out of the gym.
Henry and Amy went on their morning jog around Henry’s estate. She really has not toured everything his estate has to offer. The last time Charles showed her around was only within the mansion and nearby structures such as the maid’s houses, garage, and pool house which tired her out already.
It is a 4.5-hectare property with only 20% of it occupied, that housed Henry’s mansion and its facilities, the servant’s quarters, and Rei’s house. Although Henry has servants for all tasks that needed to be done for the estate, most parts of the property were left untouched.
Even the garden in the mansion was just recently taken care of because of Amy. Henry grew up with his uncle and cousins, leaving the mansion to Charles and Demi’s care. Trev instructed them to not touch anything unless Henry told them so.
When Henry became an adult and moved back to his estate, but still did not let anyone change anything in the mansion and surrounding area. The only thing that the maids do is clean and just do basic upkeep, as what as they were instructed.
Amy was amazed at how big the place was. She never got the time to roam around and see what the place has to offer. She knows that it has an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court, and a huge garage that could accommodate 15 cars, not to mention the outdoor parking spaces.
These are the only facilities beside the mansion that have been kept well by the employees. "Wow, your property is massive!" Amy exclaimed as they enter the woodland part of the estate. Her eyes kept on looking left and right, admiring the natural surroundings.
"You have not seen everything yet. There used to be a pond near here but it’s now covered in dirt and grass. I remember driving around it with my ATV when I was young, it was really fun," Henry narrated.
"What happened to it?" Amy was happy that Henry is slowly opening up to her, and they actually have something to talk about other than his perverted fantasies of her.
"I moved out and lived with Uncle Trev, he only kept essential personnel in the estate like Charles and Demi together with a few maids and guards, so no one has the time to maintain that," he then look at Amy with a hopeful smile.
"Someday, I would like to renovate all the other facilities here, I can’t do it alone with all the work that I do in the company. So I am hoping that someone will do it with me. It is the perfect job for my future ’wife’ and as you know the position is very much available," Henry added, emphasizing the word wife.
Henry knows that Amy is not a gold-digger and that her situation with Jayson was the only thing that pushed her to be in a contract with him for money. Now that it’s finally solved, he knows that even if he offers to pay for all her debts, she would rather lose her remaining properties rather than get married to someone she doesn’t love.
Yet still, he knows how valuable are those properties to her and he will not allow her to lose that. And with that, he must shove his way into her heart. Perhaps a comfortable easy life and future kids with him can entice her, knowing that family is very important to her.
"My father built me an outdoor obstacle course in the woods before. I am sure if I rebuild that, Jayson and Jena will enjoy it. I can also put a playground beside it if they want to," Henry is trying his best to trigger something in her heart that would make her consider marrying him in case he would not be able to capture her heart in the remaining months of their contract.
Amy smiled and thought, ’I can already imagine my future with you, Henry, you don’t need to try hard.’ But of course, she doesn’t have the guts to say that to his face, not right now, but she hopes that someday once she is sure that what she feels is really love and not just admiration and infatuation, she will definitely confess her love to him.
"Yeah, they would love that for sure, any kid will do," she looked back at him to give him a beaming smile.
Henry felt delighted with how Amy’s smile looked genuine as if she really is agreeing with whatever he is saying. At the same time, she would sometimes utter words that make him doubt her feelings for him. It is just too hard for him to read what she really feels.
