Chapter 256: Naked in the Magazine

"Apologies for our reaction. Please go ahead and continue," Amy encouraged the girls, wanting to steer the conversation back on track.

"We saw him in a magazine called The Bachelor Magazine, and he was posing naked, but they didn’t show everything," the girl explained, her face turning noticeably red. Amy had to bite her inner cheeks to suppress her smile, maintaining a neutral expression.

"Come on, Becca, just admit it," the first girl teased, nudging Becca playfully. "Tell Amy that you have a major crush on her husband and that you’ve been fantasizing about him ever since you saw that magazine."

Hearing all the bantering, Mary’s curiosity got the better of her, and she couldn’t help but ask, "So, can you tell us more about this magazine?" Mary gestured for the teenage girls to join her at one of the vacant tables, inviting them for a chitchat.

"The magazine features hot and single businessmen and their friends in their own businesses, and they pose naked!" Becca said, emphasizing the word "naked".

But Mary caught something else. "You said including their friends? What kind of friends?" she asked with a curious expression. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The first girl answered, "Their right-hand man, like a sidekick or partner. The magazine portrays them as modern-day Batman and Robin, like a hero and their trusted ally in the business world."

"I wanna see this magazine that you’re talking about. Where can I find it?" Mary asked, her curiosity piqued.

"It’s my mom’s copy, and she wouldn’t like it if I take it without her permission," Becca said.

Mary crossed her arms, not liking the reply that she heard, "Then tell her a friend will borrow it," she insisted.

The girl pouted before saying, "She would prefer that actually, she doesn’t like other people borrowing her stuff."

"I will pay for it then, I will give you one hundred dollars for it," Amy offered, surprising Mary. But seeing the dissatisfied look on the girl’s face, Amy added, "Plus, a lot of pictures with Henry. I can call him right now, he is still upstairs in his office. You will also receive a complimentary coffee and pastries when you come back here with the magazine, and we can arrange another round of picture-taking with Henry."

Mary’s jaw dropped in disbelief. She couldn’t believe how far Amy was willing to go to obtain that magazine, offering such a high price and even resorting to bribing the girls. It was a side of her best friend that Mary had never seen before, and it left her feeling uncertain about who Amy truly was in a funny way.

She had always assumed that Amy wouldn’t care about something like this, which is why she was so shocked by her friend’s desperate efforts to get the copy.

And to Mary’s surprise, the girls seemed eager to come up with a plan to obtain the magazine. They huddled together, whispering and giggling, as if plotting a covert mission.

Mary couldn’t help but feel a mix of curiosity and concern as she watched them, wondering what they were up to. She wasn’t sure if getting that magazine was worth all this trouble, but it seemed like Amy was determined to have it at any cost.

Becca proposed, "We’ll need a distraction to get it from her room."

"I could create a diversion," offered Lisa, the first girl. "I’ll approach her mom and engage her in a conversation about something unrelated. While she’s distracted, Becca can sneak into the room and retrieve the magazine."

Becca nodded eagerly. "That might work. We just need to be quick and careful, so she doesn’t catch us."

"So, is it a deal then?" Amy asked, her voice filled with a mix of impatience and excitement.

The girls exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. "Deal," Becca confirmed, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.

Mary sighed, realizing that she couldn’t change their minds. "Alright, but let’s make sure to return it and keep our promise," she emphasized, hoping that Amy is not thinking of keeping it.

Amy beamed, pleased with the outcome. "Thank you, girls. You won’t regret this. Now, let’s put the plan into action!" She then dialed Henry’s number.

"Yes, love, why are you calling?" Henry asked, curiosity evident in his voice. It hadn’t been long since they were together in the cafe, so he was wondering what the call was about.

"Are you still in the building?" Amy inquired, eager to have Henry by her side.

"Yes, I am on my way to the elevator. Do you need anything?" he asked, sensing her urgency.

"Yes, just a small favor though. Can you visit here before going to the site?" Amy requested, using her sweetest tone to persuade her husband.

Henry paused for a moment, considering her request. He knew how important this was to Amy, and he wanted to support her in any way he could. "Alright, love. I can make a quick stop."

Henry then turned to Rei, "Tell Tony to pick me up in front of Bellory."

Anton, puzzled about the sudden change of plans, asked, "Is there something wrong at the cafe?"

"No, I don’t think so. Maybe my wife just wanted to give me some coffee and pastries to go before going to the site. You know, because that’s what wives do," Henry said with a hint of pride, trying to boast to Anton and Rei.

Anton rolled his eyes at Henry’s comment, but before he could respond, Rei interjected, "We are coming with you then."

Rei quickly sent Henry’s instruction to Tony via text, arranging for the pick-up outside Bellory.

When Henry stepped into the elevator, he was surprised to see Anton following him. "What’s with you two? You don’t have to come with me. This is my building, I am safe here," Henry said, slightly puzzled by Anton’s presence.

Anton cleared his throat and chuckled, "Ahem, ahem, we want what wives give their husbands before going to work too. Coffee and pastries."

The elevator fell into a brief silence as the three men exchanged glances before bursting into laughter together.
