CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 252: Messed Up

After Rei stood in between the Welsh couple and Josephine, one of the police officers entered the HR department and stated, "Ms. Josephine Hart, you are being arrested on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping."

Josephine’s complexion turned pale as if all the blood had been drained from her body. She remained frozen in her place until the police officer approached and placed a handcuff around her wrist.

Josephine protested, insisting, "You’ve got it all wrong. I’ve already told you that I have nothing to do with it, and Kevin has already admitted his crimes."

The police officer, while attempting to drag Josephine out of the HR department, reminded her, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you." Josephine continued to struggle, trying to free her hands.

In desperation, Josephine turned to Amy and pleaded, "Amy, please tell them it’s not me. Explain to them that I am a victim too."

Amy, who was taken aback and confused by the sudden turn of events, looked at Henry for an explanation. However, Henry quickly grasped her expression and proactively explained the situation before she even had a chance to ask.

With conviction in his voice, Henry roared, pointing his finger directly at Josephine, "She was the mastermind behind all of this. Rei managed to gather ample evidence of the bank transactions, witnesses, and CCTV footage that connect all the dots, and they all point to her."

As the police officers dragged Josephine down the hall and out of Bellory’s Office, she shouted in protest, "That’s a lie! This is a setup! Kevin and Alex are setting me up! Let me go!" Her voice echoed through the corridor, filled with frustration and desperation.

Amy stood speechless, her gaze fixed on the fading figures of Josephine and the police officers. It wasn’t long ago that she had been comforting Josephine, and now the revelation that she was the mastermind behind it all left Amy rattled.

Questions flooded her mind as she tried to comprehend why Josephine would want to harm both her and Henry. The sense of betrayal weighed heavily upon her, leaving her searching for answers in the wake of this shocking discovery.

As if sensing Amy’s need for answers, Rei began sharing his findings with her. "Josephine’s step-sister was Henry’s previous contracted girlfriend, but her contract was terminated prematurely due to her unhealthy obsession with him," he explained, starting to shed light on the situation.

Before Rei could finish his explanation, Amy’s footing faltered, causing her to almost collapse to the floor. However, Henry, who had been standing beside her, swiftly wrapped his arm around her waist, preventing her from falling and catching her just in time.

Mary rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion in the hallway. Seeing Amy’s condition, she exclaimed, "Gosh, Amy, are you alright? You should take her to her office. She must be shaken by what happened," she said to Henry who was trying to calm Amy down.

Henry made an attempt to carry Amy to her office, but she declined, concerned about the potential attention from other employees who may have gathered at the front desk due to Josephine’s loud outburst. Amy already guessed that their current situation had likely attracted a crowd, making her hesitant to draw more attention to themselves.

Upon noticing the employees gathering in the hallways and at the front desk, Mary took charge and firmly exclaimed, "Everyone, back to work!" Her authoritative voice resonated through the air, prompting the employees to disperse quickly, returning to their respective tasks.

However, their curious gazes and attentive ears remained fixed on their bosses, lingering with a sense of intrigue and curiosity.

As Amy entered her office, Mitch promptly handed her a glass of water to help calm her nerves. Henry, showing his support, assisted her in settling down on the sofa and took a seat beside her.

Amy gratefully accepted the glass of water from Mitch and took a few sips, allowing its coolness to soothe her parched throat. Sitting beside her, Henry gently placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, silently conveying his support.

In the quietness of her office, Amy’s mind was filled with a whirlwind of emotions and unanswered questions. She took a deep breath, attempting to steady herself before speaking. "I can’t believe this, Josephine... she was the one behind everything? It’s hard to believe she’s capable of such things." Her voice trembled slightly, betraying the mix of shock and disbelief she felt.

Henry’s hand gently rested on Amy’s, giving her a comforting squeeze. He proceeded to recount Rei’s earlier statement, saying, "As Rei mentioned earlier, three years ago, Ervina Lee, Josephine’s step-sister, and my former contracted girlfriend, developed an intense obsession with me.

She pleaded with me not to end our relationship and resorted to extreme measures in her desperate attempts to win me back.

Ervina’s obsession escalated to the point where she began stalking me. I took legal action and sued her, resulting in her arrest. However, her time in jail was short-lived because her father, who I happen to be an investor in his business, bailed her out.

Because of her continued harassment, I made it clear to her father that I would withdraw my stocks from his business unless his daughter ceased her stalking and disturbing behavior.

But Ervina is out of her mind and still continued with her foolishness so I pulled out my investment and soon his company collapsed and they went bankrupt. Their father got sick due to the stress of trying to save his company," Henry narrated.

"But that is not your fault, it is her step-sister’s fault, so I don’t understand how can she be so angry to want to kill us," Amy asked, still not understanding the situation.

"I may have contributed to the situation perhaps," Rei butted in. "Ervina ask for help from Henry but I instructed the security team to not let her come close to Henry, even her shadow. And according to our investigation, Ervina and Josephine became escort women to rich men so just they can pay for their father’s hospitalization," Rei added.

"Oh, My God! I don’t know if I would pity her or still be angry with her for hurting Amy and Henry," Mary who was also in the room uttered.

"That’s the time that I met Alex, since Rei’s team is not allowing Ervina to come close to me, he asked Alex to come to me. That time I was in the car with Vanessa when Alex jumped onto us. It was a very short encounter that’s why I had a hard time remembering him," Henry said.

"But still, none of those are your fault, if only Ervina listened to you and her father, none of those would happen," Amy exclaimed.

Henry and Rei exchanged meaningful glances. Rei, sensing Henry’s hesitation, took the initiative to carry on with the narrative.

"Tragically, their father’s passing left Ervina as Josephine’s sole remaining family member," he began. "Their parents had married when Ervina and Josephine were still very young, Josephine never met his father, which not only made them step-sisters but also best friends. However, Josephine’s mother passed away ten years ago, leaving her in the care of Ervina’s father.

She was never adopted by Ervina’s father which explains why we encountered difficulties in verifying Josephine’s connection to Henry. Without any official adoption records, it was challenging to establish her familial ties to any of Henry’s previous partners," he confirmed.

His voice then softened as he shared the tragic fate that befell Ervina. "Unfortunately, not long after their father’s passing, Ervina took her own life, leaving Josephine all alone." The weight of the story hung heavy in the air, emphasizing the depth of Josephine’s isolation and the tragedies that had unfolded within her family.

"We found out from their former neighbors that Alex was madly in love with Ervina. They were childhood friends that’s why when Josephine orchestrated her revenge Alex did not hesitate to help her," Rei stated.

"And what has Kevin had to do with all these?" Mary asked.

"Josephine promised Kevin that she will marry him if he will help them gather information, but we also captured in the recording that Josephine is planning to marry a rich old man, one of her former clients in the escort service, as soon as she’s done executing her revenge.

Our lawyers let Kevin listen to it and he was devastated. He immediately told us everything in exchange for a reduced legal charge against him." Henry said.

"And did you agree?" Mary retorted, if it’s up to her, she would want the most severe punishment for the three.

"Partially yes, one of the conditions is that he has to live in another country where I don’t have any property or investment. He would not be allowed to go back to this country anymore plus he will have a restraining order and a huge fine," Henry explained.

"My God! This is all so messed up," Amy exclaimed as her tears started to flow from her eyes. Josephine tried to take her away not only from Henry but also from Jayson and Jena, not to mention from her cousins and best friend. Such actions cannot be justified as a means of seeking revenge. Regardless of her motivations, the harm inflicted upon others cannot be excused and will never be enough.
