CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 242: [Bonus - ] Footage (2)
"Henry, you can’t stay here. You still have work to do at Amy’s future oil company. Let me handle this," Rei reminded Henry when he noticed him engrossed in watching the CCTV footage alongside the others.
"You’re right," Henry acknowledged, taking a moment to gather his thoughts. "Rei, I’m sorry about... well, you know-"
Rei interjected with a smirk, cutting off Henry’s hesitant apology. "I forgive you," he said, his tone lighthearted. "But you’ll have to make it up to me. Send the compensation to my account. I’m expecting a generous sum for my broken handsome nose," Rei teased, chuckling.
Henry shook his head, joining in the laughter. "You can count on it. I’ll make sure to send some for Dave too. Although, I won’t apologize to him."
"That’s fine," Rei replied. "He knows he failed his mission that day. He’ll understand. But the compensation will surely make him happy."
With their banter lightening the mood, Henry and Anton bid farewell to the investigation room, leaving Rei to oversee the ongoing analysis. They redirected their focus to their responsibilities at the company, determined to uphold their commitments while allowing Rei to lead the charge in the investigation.
As they walked away, a renewed sense of friendship and understanding enveloped the trio something that they almost lose after the kidnapping.
Back in the investigation room led by Rei and Ava, the team worked tirelessly, meticulously reviewing the recordings and cross-referencing them with other evidence they had gathered thus far. They employed advanced software and collaborative efforts to expedite the process, hoping to uncover any breakthroughs that could shed light on the suspects’ identities and motives.
"Sir," one of the staff called out, drawing everyone’s attention. "Check this out. Isn’t this the HR manager of Bellory?" The staff pointed to a woman captured on the CCTV footage, parked beside the getaway car, briefly standing on the driver’s side before walking away.
Rei immediately turned to Ava. "Ava, can you find out what Josephine is doing there?" he requested, eager to clarify the situation.
Ava nodded, already familiar with the situation. "Oh, that. We didn’t inform her about the change in the opening date, and she happened to use the employee discount offered by the hotel to Bellory employees on that particular day," Ava explained. Roana had previously mentioned it to her, and she had already conducted her own investigation into that aspect.
"Hmm, I don’t think so," Rei pondered, carefully observing the woman’s body movements captured on the footage. "From this angle, it appears she was just checking something on her side mirror, perhaps fixing it. Unfortunately, we can’t see her other hand from here."
Realizing the potential for additional evidence, Rei swiftly formulated a plan. "Go to Joshua and see if we can obtain recordings from the dash cams of the cars surrounding both the getaway car and Josephine’s vehicle," he instructed his team, pointing to the cars shown in the footage.
Rei’s determination burned brighter than ever as he contemplated the connections between Kevin, Josephine, and the mysterious figure named Alex.
Roana’s revelation about a potential deeper relationship between Kevin and Josephine echoed in his mind, intensifying his suspicion that they were not merely acquaintances. If the kidnapper Alex mentioned in the recording was the same Alex referred to by Kevin, it raised the possibility that Josephine was the woman accompanying him that night making her one of the suspects as well.
The coincidence of Josephine parking beside the getaway car on that fateful day was too significant to ignore. There was a web of interconnections, and Rei was determined to unravel its complexity.
The motive behind their actions remained a haunting mystery though. What compelled them to target Amy and Henry? What were their intentions? These questions weighed heavily on Rei’s mind, demanding answers.
Regardless of the unknown factors, one thing remained definite in Rei’s heart: He would not allow these people to escape. The safety and well-being of those he held dear were at stake, and he vowed to protect them with unwavering resolve. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Henry and Anton got on a three-hour drive to reach Amy’s land, each lost in their own thoughts. As the silence enveloped the car, Anton broke it with a question that caught Henry off guard.
"Are you going to thank Ash or Vanessa for their assistance in the investigation?" Anton inquired, seeking Henry’s perspective.
Letting out a sigh, Henry contemplated the question. "Definitely not Vanessa, but Ash, I don’t know."
"What does Mary think about it?" Henry added, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "I mean, how does she feel about Ash helping us?"
Anton took a moment to collect his thoughts before responding, "To be honest, we haven’t really discussed it in detail. But it seems like she’s happy that Ash is contributing. They’ve been best friends since childhood, Henry."
Henry’s expression remained conflicted as he absorbed Anton’s words. He understood the bond between Ash, Amy, and Mary, the unwavering loyalty they had shared throughout their lives. However, the wounds caused by Ash’s past actions still lingered, making forgiveness a challenging prospect.
"I know," Henry replied, his voice filled with a mix of acknowledgment and frustration. "I know Ash wouldn’t want Amy to be harmed. But I can’t simply forgive him for what he has done. It’s not that easy for me."
Anton nodded, understanding the depth of Henry’s emotions. He respected Henry’s stance, knowing that forgiveness couldn’t be forced or rushed.
As the car continued along the road, Henry’s thoughts remained consumed by conflicting emotions. Gratitude for Ash’s assistance clashed with the pain of betrayal, creating a tremendous inner struggle.
Anton inquired, "Are you considering telling Amy about Ash’s involvement?"
"She would want to know, but I’m hesitant. If I keep it from her and she learns about it elsewhere, she’ll be furious with me. Yet, revealing the truth would also cause her pain. She would recall all the things Ash did to her. By not disclosing it, I feel as if I’m repeating Ash’s actions. I’m at a loss about what to do," Henry expressed with frustration.
