CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 241: Footage (1)
Rei transformed one of the rooms on the CEO’s floor in Welsh Holdings’ Building into an investigation room for the second time around. Both Rei and Anton agreed to disclose to Henry all the information they had gathered, along with their speculations, including their thoughts on Kevin.
On the other hand, Amy willingly decided to remain in the mansion for the day to recuperate, as she was still experiencing body pain. She successfully persuaded Henry that once she felt better, she would resume working, even if her bruises had not yet fully healed.
Dave and Mitch opted to stay with Amy in the mansion, while Ava accompanied the others to Welsh Holdings. Henry refrained from waking up Amy, as he left early for work to meet with the investigation team.
"What is the latest update?" Henry promptly inquired as he entered the room.
"Could we have a private talk first? Just you, me, and Anton," Rei requested, and Henry swiftly agreed, leading them to his office for a more confidential discussion.
"Let me complete everything I have to say before you decide to punch me again, alright?" Henry responded with a scoff, acknowledging Rei’s sarcasm.
"Ash and Vanessa are assisting us in the investigation," Henry frowned while crossing his arms, but true to his word, he allowed Rei to speak and attentively listened.
"However, they are only permitted to provide information and would not be receiving any updates from us," Rei continued explaining, feeling relieved that Henry was keeping an open mind.
"There is one more thing," Anton inserted, "We have a suspicion that Kevin may be involved in both the plane crash and the kidnapping, although we currently lack sufficient evidence. We managed to plant a voice recorder in his car, and during a conversation, the name Alex was mentioned.
It appeared as if he was discussing the plane crash with a woman, who is likely his lover as well. But that conversation is not that clear to really point their direct connection to the crime."
"Why am I only hearing about this now?" Henry’s anger surged as he expressed his dissatisfaction with the new information.
"This is precisely why we chose not to inform you," Anton responded.
"Kevin is the one who directed Amy to the back of the café, right to Alex! If you had informed me earlier, I could have warned Amy and promptly fired that f*cking bastard!" Henry retorted, evidently frustrated with the situation.
He could not believe that his two best friends kept such important information from him just because they thought he would not be able to handle it because of his temper.
Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Henry composed his thoughts. "Alright, let’s not dwell on what could have been. We need to focus on gathering concrete evidence against Kevin and find that woman," he said, his tone firm and resolute.
Rei and Anton nodded in agreement, relieved that Henry had channeled his anger into a determination to take action. They knew that with Uncle Trevor’s connection and Henry’s resources and influence, they stood a better chance of uncovering the full extent of Kevin’s involvement.
Before they could delve deeper into their conversation, a knock at the door interrupted them.
"Go ahead Toby," Henry called out to his assistant as he peek through the door, "Who is it?"
"It’s Joshua Connor, he wants to speak with you," Toby informed Henry.
"Let him in," Henry responded, granting permission for Joshua to enter.
As Joshua entered Henry’s office, he was taken aback to see Rei and Anton present so early in the morning, well before regular office hours. With a playful tone, Joshua jested, "Having a party already this early in the morning?"
Henry chuckled, appreciating Joshua’s sense of humor, before motioning for him to take a seat. "They are part of the private investigation team that I’ve assembled, along with my lawyers and the police. What brings you here, Joshua?" Henry inquired.
"I have a gift for you," Joshua announced, extending a small box to Henry, who eagerly accepted it.
With curiosity stirred up, Henry opened the box and discovered a USB flash drive inside. He glanced back at Joshua, seeking an explanation. "What is this?" Henry inquired.
"It’s the CCTV footage from the hotel parking lot," Joshua clarified. "Upon seeing the suspects’ faces on the news, I immediately instructed my staff to secure a copy of our surveillance recordings before the police could seize all the evidence. We discovered that the getaway car had been parked in the basement parking area a day prior to the original opening date of the café."
Joshua continued, "However, the driver of the car was wearing a bowler hat and a trench coat, making it difficult to know if he is one of the suspects or if the getaway car itself was stolen. Interestingly, none of our guests reported a stolen vehicle."
Henry’s eyes widened with anticipation as he realized the significance of the footage. This unexpected gift from Joshua could potentially provide a vital breakthrough in their investigation.
"Thank you, Joshua. Your contribution is greatly valuable," Henry expressed his gratitude sincerely.
As Joshua prepared to depart, he added a helpful reminder, "Just so you know, I’ve included all the recordings from a week before the original opening date up until last night. I suggest you start reviewing them as soon as possible."
Henry nodded in understanding, acknowledging the urgency of the situation. With the USB drive in his possession, he knew that they are racing against time in uncovering any crucial clues hidden within the footage.
After Joshua left, Henry, Rei, and Anton wasted no time. They quickly returned to the investigation room, filled with hope. Rei took charge and assigned seventy percent of their dedicated workforce to comb through the recordings meticulously.
Their instructions were clear: scour the footage for any potential leads, paying close attention to details that could guide them in their pursuit of the truth. Every suspicious individual, unusual behavior, or relevant event captured on camera was to be carefully documented and analyzed.
