CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 234: Live Stream
Earlier in the Welsh Mansion...
"Sir, you need to see this," one of the members of Henry’s private investigation team urgently called out to Rei, holding up a laptop screen displaying a trending live video.
Rei, accompanied by Dave, Mitch, and Ava, gathered around to watch the footage attentively. The video showcased a car swaying unpredictably, resembling a drunken driver, as it navigated through the midst of a bustling road. The person filming the video was riding in the car directly behind the unstable vehicle.
This position of the camera offered them a glimpse into the chaos unfolding within the swaying car. The passengers seemed to be engaged in a heated brawl with movements and gestures suggesting a state of commotion.
"That’s Amy, I’m sure of it," Ava exclaimed, her voice filled with certainty, as she swiftly reached for her jacket, preparing to leave.
Rei, taking charge of the situation, instructed Tony and Dave to fetch Henry immediately, "Tony, Dave, get Henry, and let’s go," before he received a paper from a member of the investigation team, which detailed the car’s license plate number and its location as captured in the video.
"B-But, Dr. Martin sedated him earlier. He’s still sleeping, boss!" Dave responded with a tremor of fear in his voice, vividly recalling the incident that occurred in the morning when they informed Henry about Amy’s disappearance.
Dave and Rei bore the brunt of the enraged customers at Bellory, enduring several blows as they attempted to interrupt and stop the fight.
However, when Henry and Anton arrived at the chaotic and nearly destroyed cafe, Henry wasted no time in responding with force. His fist landed on Dave’s face not once, but twice, delivering swift and powerful blows.
When Henry rapidly approached him, Dave anticipated that he would be reprimanded or grabbed by the collar. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that a day would come when their boss would actually strike him. And oh boy, he experienced firsthand the sheer strength behind Henry’s fist.
With a sickening crack, Dave felt his neck snap upon the impact of Henry’s first punch. The force of the second blow sent him crashing to the ground, leaving him dazed and disoriented. It took him a while to regain his clarity of vision, as he struggled to comprehend the shocking turn of events.
Rei, seeing the awful state Dave was in, quickly intervened, grabbing Henry’s arm to prevent him from delivering another devastating blow.
But in the heat of the moment, Henry’s rage was uncontrollable. He turned towards Rei and, without hesitation, struck him squarely in the nose, causing it to break with a horrible crunch.
Rei stumbled backward, clutching his bleeding nose, his eyes filled with shock and pain. The situation had spiraled out of control, leaving both Dave and Rei injured at the hands of their enraged boss.
Dave vividly remembered the sound of Henry’s voice as he shouted, "I ordered you to look after her!" Mitch and Ava rushed to his aid, helping him regain his balance as the weight of Henry’s words hung in the air. The intensity of Henry’s command made it clear to Dave that he had failed in his duty to protect Amy, deepening his sense of guilt and urgency to rectify the situation.
Fortunately for Rei, Anton and the others interfered swiftly, preventing Henry from delivering another blow. Their timely action spared Rei from further harm.
Expectedly, Dave appeared worse off than Rei even with his broken nose. Despite the pain and injuries, both Dave and Rei shared a sense of remorse for their incompetence to protect Amy.
That experience left Dave deeply fearful of Henry’s rage, he wouldn’t dare approach Henry and awaken him from his sedated state.
They were not yet completely certain if it was indeed Amy in the live stream, Dave hesitated to risk further confrontation or provoke Henry’s wrath. The fear lingering from their earlier clash served as a constant reminder of the consequences that could arise from underestimating Henry’s strength and anger.
"I don’t care if he’s even naked in the shower, get him now! Drag him to the car if you have to, let’s go!" Rei’s urgency and firmness echoed in his command.
Dave stood there in disbelief, unsure of what to do next. But before he could gather his thoughts, Tony took charge and grabbed him, leaving Dave with no choice but to follow Rei’s orders.
Luckily, Charles and Trevor happened to be in the hallway outside the master bedroom when Tony and Dave arrived. They were thrilled to hear the news about the live stream and wasted no time in waking up Henry.
Although Henry was still groggy from his sedation, Charles and Trevor took it upon themselves to ensure he didn’t miss out on the action. They understood the consequences of leaving him behind, knowing that if he woke up to find everyone gone without him, there would be a serious undesirable outcome.
With a sense of urgency, they supported Henry and guided him towards the car, determined to bring him along and face whatever results may come.
The group drove as fast as possible towards the location, Henry gradually regaining his composure with the assistance of Trevor’s efforts to keep him alert.
The site was fortunately not too distant from the mansion, and due to the prior coordination between Rei, Ava, and the police, they received confirmation that the person in the car was indeed Amy just moments before reaching the scene.
As they approached the scene, Henry’s eyes scanned the surroundings, desperately searching for any sign of Amy.
And then, there she was, sitting inside the ambulance. Relief washed over him, and his heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of her. Without hesitation, he burst out of the car, even before it stopped, rushing towards the ambulance to be by her side.
Henry’s heart ached at the sight of Amy’s tears starting to stream down her face. He noticed bruises on her face and cracks on her lips. He pushed himself to run even faster, surpassing his own limits as he closed the distance between them.
As he reached her, he wrapped her in a tight embrace, feeling her body tremble against his. The sound of her cries pierced his soul, and he held her even tighter, comforting her with his presence and letting her know that he was there, that he would not let her go.
