CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 158: Absurd
"Love, you are staring at the seafood like they are some kind of treasure," Henry bantered as he watch Amy dig in.
"Because they smell so good and I bet they taste so good too," Amy defended before taking a bite of the grilled squid that she was eyeing earlier.
"Are you pregnant?" Henry couldn’t stop himself from asking anymore. She looked like someone who didn’t eat for days as she enjoys the seafood platter on their table, one sign that a woman is pregnant, and the thought of it made him excited.
Amy almost choked on her food and coughed several times, one of the waiters was about to check on them but Henry refused the help because he knows, it was about his question and not about the food.
"Gods no! That is absurd Henry, you know I was taking contraceptives," Amy drawled while wiping her mouth.
"Why not? You stopped taking it after the wedding, so it is possible right?"
"It is if I am fertile but I am not. And even if I am, it’s too early for symptoms. I am just that hungry and admit it their food is really good, so drop it. If ever I am in the future, I will definitely tell you."
"Okay, love. I guess you are just really pigging out," Henry blurted and that didn’t do him any good.
Amy furrowed her brows, she’s not pigging out she thought, she’s just enjoying the food. She quickly threw to Henry the first thing that she got hold of, which was the crumpled tissue paper that she used earlier.
Henry was not able to dodge since he was looking at his plate. But when Amy threw another one he caught it while his other hand grab her wrist.
"Stop it," he said.
"You just called me a pig!" Amy grumbled and tried to take back her arm from Henry.
"I did not! But if that’s what you think, then we shall see later."
"Later? What do you mean by later?" Amy asked with a raised brow.
"I bought something that I want you to wear," Henry then smirked before slicing the squid on his plate.
"What is it?" Amy is getting curious about it. She thought it was perhaps the reason why Henry was up early and in the walk-in closet early this morning but she didn’t find anything that he was holding to be suspicious about it.
"If you want to see it then let’s eat up fast and go to our room."
It was decided just like that. Amy tried to eat as fast as she could without choking again and Henry can’t help but smile at what he had in store for her.
Meanwhile, earlier on Amy’s farm. Mary was not in a good mood after Theo informed him of delays in some of the shops because some workers got sick with the flu.
"How about you go out and maybe go shopping or do anything you like instead of you obsessing about your timeline," Anton arrived at the farm early to visit Mary.
"What are you doing here anyway? I don’t remember you telling me that you will visit today. If you did I wouldn’t be facing you in my pajamas," Mary was so embarrassed when she saw him in their living room after her mom called her up earlier.
She didn’t even brush her hair thinking that the man her mom was talking about is just one of the workers on the farm.
"You didn’t answer any of my messages last night and every time I call you, it says you are on another call," Anton explained.
"I was trying to find people that could replace the sick workers temporarily. I stayed up until three in the morning only to fail," Mary sighed as she rested her elbows on the dining table and propped her knuckles to support her chin.
Mary’s mom had served them breakfast and almost pulled them both into the dining room saying that the food will get cold. Mary had no time to fix herself and just used her fingers to brush her hair.
"Let it be. It’s probably the will of God to delay some of your opening dates so all of you will take it slow and have some rest. I have not seen women as relentless as the four of you in my entire life."
"Of course we are. We don’t just like to stay still, sit, and be pretty. We are women of the modern generation and we don’t like waiting for money from other people, we like to make our own," Mary then winked at Anton making him laugh.
"I know right, maybe that’s one of the traits that made me attracted to you," Anton said before taking a sip of his coffee.
Mary blushed... real hard. She didn’t expect that, the last time that Anton said such words was at Amy and Henry’s wedding and after that there was none.
They see each other daily in Henry’s office pantry since Amy and Henry like having lunch with all of them. He even drives her to Henry’s mansion since she stays there in the meantime but that’s it. No other sweet gesture coming from him.
She even questioned herself if they are really dating or if he really likes her like what he said at the wedding. But now, here he is making her blush again with his words but he is so inconsistent and she doesn’t like that.
His inconsistency is making her doubt his intentions and she plans to sort it out if not today then soon.
"Why are you really here Anton?" She asked.
He sighed deeply and that made Mary feel a little nervous. Is he going to finally say that he made a mistake or is he going to ask her out on a date? Too many questions are swirling in her mind right now and it is souring her mood more.
"I want to talk to you about something. But can we finish our breakfast first, I want to talk privately if you don’t mind," Anton whispered not wanting other people to hear it. Mary’s mom was walking back and forth to the kitchen and dining room bringing them food.
Mary gulped before nodding. ’This is it,’ she thought. It is either she will be heartbroken or happy once Anton says his piece.
