Chapter 132: Hearts Beat As One

"You know that I won’t get mad at you whatever you say right? You are that important to me, love," Henry decided to break the silence between them after seeing Amy trudge for words, "Tell me, love, what is it that you wanted to say?" he added.

"I... I..." Amy covered her face with both hands as her elbows rest on her lap.

Henry is getting a little worried about how Amy is acting. There are multiple things that are running through his mind right now, including the possibility of Amy breaking up with him. That thought alone horrified him.

There is no way that he will let her go even if she wants to. All hell will break loose if ever she tried to. As he waits for Amy to say her piece, he is trying his best to be patient but his imagination is getting the best of him.

He is starting to palpitate as if he will soon have a heart attack. He is slowly having difficulty breathing and his sweat glands are now in overdrive. He tried to calm himself down but it was impossible.

’What did that f*cker say to Amy, I am going to kill him that b*stard,’ He can’t help but think of the worst possible scenario at this moment.

The only thing that he could think of why Amy asked him to not get mad is because she will tell him that she had accepted Ash’s offer to help her save her land. But when he thinks of that, it doesn’t add up. If Amy had decided to accept the Brighton’s term, then why did she cry earlier and got upset with Ash, he thought.

He is going crazy thinking about what is this about and the only way to know is for Amy to tell him already what is going on.

"Amy –"

"Marry me, Henry..."

Henry stared blankly at Amy as he blink multiple times. He absolutely did not expect that. He was shocked.

Amy saw how dumbstruck Henry was, "I knew this was a bad idea..." she said as she look down on her lap, intertwining her fingers over her nape.

"I’m so –" Amy was about to apologize but Henry cut her off.

"Damn, you beat me to it," he said.

Amy lifted her head and look at Henry, confused...

"W-What?" Amy stammered because she is not understanding what he means. Her head is spinning right now and she is feeling light as if she is about to fly.

Henry sigh then he stood up and took something from his leather bag and put it inside his jacket’s pocket. He sat back beside Amy and brush the back of his hand on her cheek.

"I would love to marry you, love. But I should be the one to ask that," Henry then pulled one side of his trousers to kneel before her.

"W-Wait!" Amy held both his arms stopping him. She knows what he will do.

"Y-You don’t understand Henry. I do love you with all my heart and soul but there’s something important that you should know first," Amy said.

Henry sat back and nodded at Amy, silently telling her to continue.

"I-I know about your father and uncle’s condition about your inheritance. Uncle Trev told me. I don’t want you to think that I wanted to marry you because of it. I was ready to let go of that land.

I don’t care about it anymore. I thought it would just cause me problems so I am willing to let the bank have it. I already have you, Jayson is doing well and so are Bellory and the farm. What more could I ask for?

But then Uncle Trev told me your situation. I wanted to help you but then I thought you might think that I am only after your money so I didn’t tell you.

But tonight after Uncle Lucas said something about the ring and then there’s Ash..." Amy’s words trailed off and were replaced with sobbing.

’Why am I crying again?! I don’t want to cry in front of Henry!’ Amy scolded herself. She already cried a lot earlier but she just can’t help it whenever she remembers everything that had happened and all the words that were said between them.

Henry pulled Amy closer and envelop her in his embrace. It pains him to see her shedding her tears for people that don’t deserve it. If killing is legal he would have erased all of them from the face of the Earth.

"Love... I –"

"Hold on Henry, before you speak, let me finish first before I lose all my courage," Amy then wiped her tears and continued.

"I am asking you to marry me because I don’t want them insulting you. It hurts me even though I know that it’s not true. If you marry me, I will share the land with you. You can do whatever you want with it. I trust you, I know that you know what is best for it.

If it is true that it holds an oil deposit, it means there could be more. It will be a huge business for you, for us. At the same time marrying me will let you get your inheritance from your dad.

We can do a prenup agreement if you are in doubt. I will sign it. Can you please not say no? Or at least think about it before you reject my proposal?" Amy looked at Henry’s eyes nervously, anxiously waiting for his answer.

Henry smiled as he tuck her hair behind her ear.

"Silly, why would I say no if I already spend millions and threaten a lot of people to give you this..."

Henry took the box that he earlier put inside his coat pocket and kneeled on one knee as he opens the small velvet box in front of Amy.

"Love, I am sorry if I didn’t do this much earlier. I am sorry if you have to be the one to ask me the question that I have practiced every night over and over. But hearing it from you gave me so much joy and confidence to kneel before you, knowing that our hearts beat as one..."
