CEO, Your Wife Has Left-Chapter 53: We Look So Alike
When they arrived at the villa, Felix Locke was already there on standby. Seeing them return, he hurried to help them carry Ronan Jenkins from the car. He had already prepared the surgical instruments, and after placing the blood-soaked Ronan on the bed, he told Dominic Thorne and Sean Murphy to go to another room to rest. He assured them he could handle it from here. They left for the adjacent room, fearing their presence might interfere with the operation.
Dominic Thorne paced back and forth anxiously. In contrast, Sean Murphy sat calmly on the sofa, but no one noticed his hands were trembling the entire time.
’Ronan, you have to wake up!’
Meanwhile, Noel Lynch had taken Kenneth Yates to the Francelian Lavender Manor, Noel’s residence in Francelia. The estate was covered in lavender fields.
"I wouldn’t have pegged you as a lavender enthusiast." Kenneth Yates truly hadn’t expected that someone as cold and ruthless as Noel Lynch would live amidst Floria.
"My mother planted these a long time ago..." His expression softened for a moment, then instantly turned sinister again.
"Noel, there’s something I’ve wanted to ask you for a while."
"Is it about why I hate you so much?" Noel Lynch turned and smiled at him.
"No. It’s that I think you look a lot like me." Kenneth Yates watched him. Noel was always smiling, but that smile was his most dangerous warning sign.
Noel Lynch froze, his expression stiffening on his face. "How do we look alike? Don’t go thinking every handsome guy in the world looks just like you." Noel moved closer, speaking with feigned nonchalance.
Kenneth Yates noticed the shift in his expression. His words had clearly struck a nerve. "Is that so? Then I must have been imagining things." ’Something is definitely off here,’ Kenneth thought. ’I have to look into this properly once I get back.’
Noel Lynch led Kenneth Yates into a room. "What is it you really want from me?" Kenneth asked, closing the door and slowly approaching Noel.
"For you to disappear from this world." Noel Lynch turned to face Kenneth, a bewitching smile playing on his lips.
"Heh. If you wanted to kill me, you would have done it earlier. Why wait until now?" Kenneth Yates said, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he walked to the French windows. "You’re not going to kill me."
Noel Lynch could no longer contain himself. He strode over and grabbed Kenneth by the collar. "I hate that look on your face! The one that says you think you can read everyone’s mind."
"So, I was right?" Kenneth asked, a flicker of amusement in his eyes instead of anger.
Noel roughly shoved him away.
"You’re wrong! One day, I *will* kill you!"
SLAM
Noel Lynch stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
Standing by the window, Kenneth Yates sank into deep thought. ’I really don’t understand why he hates me so much. Is it because of a woman? Judging by his reaction when Thea was mentioned, it can’t be her. What about Summer? She’s been with me and Ethan since we were kids; she couldn’t have ever met Noel. So what is it?’
’Thinking of Summer... I haven’t gotten a call from her in days. And without a phone, I have no way of contacting her.’
Back home, Summer Lancaster had been calling Kenneth Yates nonstop, but his phone was always off. Finally, she had no choice but to call Dominic Thorne.
"Is that you, Dominic Thorne?" Summer Lancaster asked tentatively.
"It’s me." Dominic Thorne’s voice lacked its usual easygoing tone; instead, it was cold and distant...
"This is Summer Lancaster. Is Kenneth with you guys? I haven’t been able to reach his phone."
"The boss... he’s busy right now..." Dominic Thorne said, his gaze evasive.
"Oh. Well, tell him not to overwork himself and to make sure he gets some rest." Summer finally felt a sense of relief. Her biggest fear was that he had run into some kind of danger, so knowing he was just busy with work put her mind at ease.
