CEO, Your Wife Has Left-Chapter 37: Escape to a Place He Can’t Find
The CEO’s Office
"Director Lancaster, the President is very busy right now..." the secretary tried to stop her, but Summer Lancaster ignored her and pushed open the door to the CEO’s office. However, the scene before her made her heart turn cold. Reina West was sitting on the sofa, her eyes brimming with tears, while Kenneth Yates was handing her a tissue. Summer dropped the newspaper in her hand and fled as if escaping.
"Summer." Kenneth Yates chased after her, saw the newspaper she had dropped, and his veins bulged in anger. He returned to the office and slammed the paper down on the desk.
"Tell me, was this your doing?" It was the first time Reina West had seen such a furious Kenneth Yates. She trembled in fear and hastily denied it.
"Get out!"
Reina West was afraid of this side of him. Her impression of him had always been that of a lofty, untouchable prince. Who would have thought he also had a demonic side?
Kenneth Yates took out his phone and called Dominic Thorne. Dominic was in a meeting at that moment, but he didn’t dare ignore a call from Kenneth, so he answered it in front of everyone.
"You bastard, are you looking for a death wish?" Dominic Thorne’s eardrum vibrated from the force of the shout, and he quickly pulled the phone away from his ear.
"Boss, what’s wrong?"
"Your company’s newspaper—halt all sales immediately. From now on, you are forbidden from reporting any news about me. Otherwise, I’ll send you to Afria to ’get some exercise.’"
Dominic Thorne was taken aback. His eyes swept over all the employees present. "Boss, don’t worry. I’ll follow your instructions to the letter."
SLAM! Kenneth Yates rudely hung up the phone, leaving Dominic Thorne alone to face the chaos. He picked up a file and threw it onto the table. "Who reported on President Yates again? Didn’t I say that any news about President Yates needs my approval before publication?" Dominic was furious, wondering which blind idiot had managed to piss off his boss.
A director wearing glasses guiltily raised his hand. Dominic Thorne stood up, grabbed a file, and threw it at him.
"Mr. Thorne, I asked for your approval this morning, but you seemed very busy and just said we could make the call ourselves." The director was so scared he almost jumped out of his skin.
Dominic Thorne was mortified. He sank back into his chair, clutching his head. ’I’ve really dug my own grave this time.’ Just then, his phone rang again. Dominic answered impatiently, "This young master is very annoyed."
"You stinking brat, is that any way to talk to me?" Dominic Thorne heard the voice and realized it was his mom. He shot to his feet, his entire demeanor changing instantly.
"Ah, it’s you, Mom! I was just dealing with a work issue. What’s up?" Dominic Thorne’s heart, however, was pounding in his chest. His parents were people who knew how to enjoy life. They had handed the company over to him at a young age and gone off to travel the world. They almost never contacted him. ’What important matter could they possibly have to inform me about today?’
"You’re going on a blind date tonight. I’ll text you the time and place in a bit."
"Mom..."
"This is a notification, not a request. If you don’t go, you’ll be seeing me and your father tomorrow."
"No, don’t! I’ll go." He was terrified of his eccentric parents. They would team up to bully and prank him, to the point that he now had a psychological scar from it.
She wasn’t at home. She wasn’t at the Lancaster family home. And her phone was off. It seemed she didn’t want him to find her, that she was cutting herself off completely. He panicked. For the first time, his heart felt adrift and unsteady. He was terrified she would leave him for good.
Melody Donovan got a call from Summer Lancaster and immediately came to the Yates Group to pick her up. They went to Melody’s house, where Summer told her everything. Melody immediately started cursing Kenneth Yates, calling him a scumbag.
"Lancaster, don’t worry. You can stay at my place for a while. Forget about that scumbag."
"Melody, thank you." Summer Lancaster hugged Melody Donovan and started to cry.
"Silly girl, what’s there to thank me for? Oh! Right, my dad arranged a blind date for me tonight. Why don’t you come with me? We can get this over with quickly and then go get wasted. What do you say?"
"Okay."
