Chapter 27: Chapter 27: I Really Don’t Want to Show Off

"What are you doing?"

"Are you crazy? That’s a pill—a third-tier pill!"

Wuo Dong was trembling all over, his face twisted with rage.

Yun Kuo and the others stared wide-eyed, as though they’d seen a ghost!

Xu Yang frowned and said indifferently, "Is there a problem?"

As he spoke, he casually tossed another pill into the dog’s mouth.

"I told you to stop!"

Wuo Dong’s eyes were bloodshot.

"A third-tier pill—you know how precious that is? And you’re feeding it to a dog?"

Alchemists of the Barbarian Race are scarce, and spirit elixir is precious.

When he was young, even as the second young master of the Kunwu Division, he often wasn’t qualified to get even a pill as precious as that.

They lived mostly on the unique blood-based food of the Barbarians.

Even now, pills are rare resources.

He simply couldn’t tolerate such wanton waste of heavenly treasures.

He hadn’t even gotten any, and yet this dog keeps eating?

"Just because of that?"

Xu Yang was stunned, his expression darkening. "I made these pills—how I use them is none of your business, is it?"

"Also, he’s my companion, not some beast!"

Woof!

The dog glared at Wuo Dong menacingly.

Wuo Dong was almost bursting with rage: "Companion? Unbelievable!" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Mr. Yun, kill that dog for me!"

He felt a deep fury—as though he’d been insulted by a dog.

Yun Kuo looked hesitantly conflicted.

Though he felt uneasy, this guy was a real alchemist—once they got back to the tribe, his status would be high.

If they attacked now, they’d offend an alchemist for sure!

Damn it!

"Why are you just standing there?" Seeing Yun Kuo unmoving, Wuo Dong’s anger burned hotter.

Xu Yang sneered: "Second Young Master, right? If you dare lay a finger on him, I swear—even if I die, I’ll never refine a single pill for your Barbarian Race!"

"Are you really courting death?"

Wuo Dong’s eyes blazed red, murderous intent pouring out.

"Second Young Master..." Yun Kuo gritted his teeth, leaned close and whispered in Wuo Dong’s ear.

A few breaths later.

Wuo Dong took a deep breath, his savage expression calming slightly.

Yun Kuo’s reminder jolted Wuo Dong out of his rage for a moment.

If they pushed Xu Yang too far and he’d rather die than refine pills—once his father found out, there’d be hell to pay.

Bastard!

Woof!!

The dog barked again, baring its teeth irritably.

Wuo Dong’s just-subsided anger instantly flared up again.

Damn it, even a dog dares to bare its fangs at me?

Clenching his fists, he forced himself to remember Yun Kuo’s warning and swallowed his rage.

Just wait, I’ll deal with you once we’re back!

"Let’s go!"

Wuo Dong growled with a dark face, turned, and left.

Xu Yang couldn’t help but laugh.

This so-called second young master really doesn’t know his place.

Barbarian Race?

Thought there were some clever people after all.

Turns out, not really!

"Dog, slow down,"

Xu Yang scooped the dog into his arms and stuffed the last few pills into its mouth.

Yun Kuo, seeing this scene, grimaced, almost unable to resist roaring out.

You bastard, such outrageous waste, outrageous waste!

Damn those Qian-men!

Up ahead, Wuo Dong almost tripped, fists clenched so hard he nearly spat blood from fury!

I’ll endure!

Truth be told, he really wanted to ask for a few pills first.

But pride forced him to choke it back down!

No one spared Lu Shan a glance. Yun Kuo accompanied Xu Yang and Wuo Dong as they hurried down the mountain.

Half a day later.

A city of wild, primal design appeared before their eyes.

The city walls were made from boulders as big as small hills stacked atop each other.

At a glance, it looked like a fortress!

At first sight, Xu Yang felt deeply out of place, as if he’d stepped into another world.

But then, a fierce visual impact hit him.

Wild as a beast!

Primal might.

Perfectly suited to the Barbarian Race.

After entering the city—

The Barbarians passing by were all intimidatingly tall, baring their arms, some even dressed in animal skins.

Some Barbarian women openly showed off large swathes of sun-browned skin—some even had an exotic charm.

Few dressed like the second young master and Yun Kuo.

Ranks and strength—the differences were made visibly clear by such things!

A Qian-man showing up here naturally attracted no end of attention.

He was pointed at and discussed, just like a monkey.

Xu Yang paid them no mind, as though he hadn’t heard a thing!

With Yun Kuo and Wuo Dong as escorts, no one dared make trouble.

Soon, they came to the gate of a giant estate—no, more like a camp.

On the stone pillars before the gate, the bold characters ’Kunwu’ were carved.

This was clearly the headquarters of the Kunwu Division!

Wuo Dong led Xu Yang into the manor, stopping in front of a room and knocking respectfully.

"Come in!"

Wuo Dong turned and shot Xu Yang an angry glare: "Wait here for me!"

With that, he pushed the door open and went in.

A few dozen heartbeats later, a startled exclamation came from inside.

Soon after, a man half a head taller than Wuo Dong, even more burly, and middle-aged, burst out and fixed a deadly stare on Xu Yang—his eyes full of scrutiny, radiating a terrifying, invisible pressure.

Xu Yang’s heart shook as though he were surrounded by fierce tigers—a chill crept down his spine!

This was a true powerhouse!

At the very least, someone in the Yang Realm!

"Qian-man, you’re really an alchemist?" Wuo Longyue’s voice held a trace of skepticism.

He knew his own son far too well.

Good-for-nothing brat, spoiled punk!

Never did a proper thing!

The whole Kunwu Division knew this!

And he actually brought back a third-tier alchemist?

That’s a damn joke.

"I am."

Xu Yang replied with neither humility nor arrogance: "If you don’t believe me, I can demonstrate right now."

"Then show me now!"

Wuo Longyue’s pupils contracted—seeing the confidence in Xu Yang’s eyes made a bit of his skepticism fade.

"Wait, go fetch Mr. Huai, quickly." He snapped his head at Wuo Dong, barking the order.

"Yes."

Wuo Dong responded and rushed off.

Fifteen minutes later.

Only three remained inside the room.

Wuo Longyue, Xu Yang, and Wuo Huai!

Wuo Dong had been sent out.

Xu Yang sized up Wuo Huai, the only fourth-tier alchemist of the Kunwu Division.

He looked feeble with age, his life-force weak.

He didn’t look like a prestigious pill master at all!

Wuo Huai was also studying Xu Yang, suspicion all over his face.

"How old are you?"

"Sixteen!"

Wuo Huai scoffed when he heard that: "Sixteen, and you’re claiming to be a third-tier alchemist... Chief, you actually trust the second young master’s nonsense?"

"What a damn waste of time."

He flung his sleeve in annoyance, looking about ready to go outside and beat Wuo Dong senseless.

Wuo Longyue’s initial excitement was doused like a bucket of cold water!

Sixteen?!

"Wuo Dong!"

He gnashed his teeth, face twisted with fury: "That damn brat!"

He resolved then and there to beat his son half to death later!

"A Qian-man—we should just kill him and be done with it!"

Wuo Huai shot Xu Yang a frosty glare and strode for the door.

"Wait!"

Xu Yang’s face flashed with helplessness.

So what if I’m sixteen?

"Whether I am or not—how about waiting until I’ve finished refining?"

Wuo Longyue’s eyes grew cold: "Kid, getting killed by me—your life would have some worth at least!"

The room temperature plummeted—killing intent flooded the air.

It was as if an ancient monster had awakened, sending chills to the bone!

Xu Yang grunted, his complexion pale!

He stared coldly at Wuo Longyue, said nothing, and directly summoned the Celestial Refining Divine Tripod!

Buzz!

Black flames roared up.

Spirit elixirs appeared out of thin air.
