Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 67 - 58: Group Attack
When Chen Chuan said that, everyone present froze. A flicker of anger rose in their hearts, and even Assistant Qiu looked over with a sidelong glance.
Lu Fang sized him up for a few moments, then nodded. "I understand," he said. He added apologetically, "My apologies, Chen. We won’t be fighting you one-on-one today. The enemies you’ll face in the future won’t come at you one at a time and play by the rules."
Chen Chuan didn’t back down in the slightest. "Fine. Can we begin?"
Lu Fang backed away, melting back into the crowd.
At that moment, a sharp glint seemed to appear in the eyes of every Fenxin Society member. As they prepared for battle, their pupils dilated to absorb more light and sharpen their observation. Their nostrils flared slightly as their breathing steadied, readying them for combat.
Assistant Qiu’s gaze fell upon the center of the room, closely watching the movements of both sides. Though his body appeared relaxed, he was actually poised to act at a moment’s notice, ready to intervene if anyone’s actions went too far. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Lu Fang gave a signal. A third-year student immediately charged forward from the front, while two others followed a moment later, moving to flank him from the sides.
Chen Chuan watched the approaching man. His hands were slightly open and his steps were heavy. Though he seemed to be exposing his front, Chen Chuan knew he must be ready to unleash his Power to absorb an attack. ’He’ll try to grapple me next.’
He raised his knee, and his Second Self instantly merged with him. He shot out a kick, striking the side of his opponent’s knee. The man’s center of gravity buckled. Chen Chuan followed up with a front kick. The man grunted as he was sent flying backward, landing sprawled on the ground, unable to get back up.
The man on the right saw an opening and lunged forward, launching a sweeping kick through the air. Chen Chuan simply raised an arm to his ear to block the blow. In the same motion, he drove an elbow into his attacker’s abdomen. Then, grabbing and pulling with both hands, he slammed the man’s still-airborne body to the left, sending him crashing into the other fighter approaching from that side.
In a near instant, three men were down.
Chen Chuan stood firm once more, his gaze fixed forward, showing no trace of emotion.
Lu Fang nodded slightly as the people around him continued to advance. They had a plan this time: send a few members to probe and observe Chen Chuan’s specific abilities before coordinating their attack. Now, after seeing him in action, many of them had a rough idea of what they were up against.
Just then, three more people rushed toward Chen Chuan—or rather, four. One of them used another’s shoulder as a springboard, launching himself high into the air. He flipped over and planted his bare feet directly on the ceiling. Then, hanging upside down, he began running toward Chen Chuan as if he were on flat ground.
Chen Chuan instantly recognized it: Wall-Climbing Force. Once mastered, this Force Technique causes mutated tissue to grow on the soles of the feet and other parts of the body, allowing one to adhere to surfaces.
He began to back away, moving sideways as he created distance. This would allow him to choose which side to engage first and avoid being attacked from multiple directions simultaneously.
A flicker of movement caught his eye. A figure darted from the crowd, following with light, quick steps. He would occasionally drop low to the ground, using his hands to propel himself forward. He moved with an incredible, silent lightness. Chen Chuan recognized the technique: the ’Raccoon Cat’ from the Freestyle Martial Arts Department.
Suddenly, he sensed movement to his side. He had planned to engage the man on his flank first, but that person had somehow already circled behind him. A knife hand chopped down toward the side of his neck.
But his movements were astonishingly fast. Before the man’s hand could land, Chen Chuan had already thrown a punch, striking him square on the chin. The man’s head snapped back, and he collapsed.
As he turned to face the other two attackers, there was a sudden stir from above. He dodged to the side just as a black shadow grazed past his shoulder. The man on the ceiling had pushed off with one foot and launched a quick kick with the other. Seeing that he’d missed, he quickly retracted his leg and remained hanging there, staring down at Chen Chuan.
’They’re trying to corner me.’ A thought crossed Chen Chuan’s mind as he began backpedaling toward the wall. The fighters on the ground pressed forward, and even the man on the ceiling shadowed his every move. Though the group was spread out, they were gradually forming a wide circle around him.
Everyone assumed he was trying to use the wall to protect his back so he could focus on the enemies in front of him. While this would trap him in an encirclement with little room to maneuver, it was still better than being attacked from all sides.
But after only a few steps, Chen Chuan suddenly stomped the ground, ducked low, and charged forward. The sudden reversal caught everyone off guard, and they scrambled to change direction. By then, Chen Chuan had already closed in on one of them, who immediately threw a punch.
Chen Chuan tilted his head slightly, dodging the blow while simultaneously driving a fist into the man’s ribs. The man involuntarily arched his back before curling up on the ground. Without breaking stride, Chen Chuan continued his charge. His movements were so fast that the fighters behind him hadn’t even gotten a clear look before he was on top of the next one. The man attacked in a panic, but Chen Chuan used a Piercing Hand to parry, then struck him square in the face with his palm, knocking him flat on his back.
A figure blurred in front of him. He ducked his head, letting a punch fly over him. Using his momentum, he closed the distance and slammed his shoulder into the man, sending him flying sideways!
He had downed several men in a row and should have been able to break through their encirclement. But there was a sudden movement from his side and rear. He raised his arm just in time to block. The fighter using the Raccoon Cat technique had placed both hands on his arm. Then, his feet left the ground, and he sprang up with all four limbs, just like a Raccoon Cat.
Chen Chuan felt a strange power seep into him. Although he wasn’t injured, his feet felt heavy, and his momentum was momentarily halted. Just then, another kick swept down from above, and he tilted his head again to evade it.
