Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 137 - 124: Suppression
In the span of just one or two breaths, a network of crisscrossing blue and red lines surfaced on Duma’s body. They were formed entirely of taut, bulging sinews. Abnormal protrusions jutted out from his muscles and even his bones, and his entire frame had shot up a few centimeters in height.
When he lowered his crossed arms, the onlookers were stunned. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Duma’s face was likewise covered in a chaotic web of blue and red sinews. His taut muscles pulled the corners of his mouth and eyes diagonally upward, revealing the outline of his teeth beneath the stretched skin. He looked utterly ferocious and malevolent. His hair tie had come off during the fight, and framed by his fanned-out hair, he looked like a demon.
The people peeking from the upper floors of the buildings on either side of the street trembled in terror at the sight, thinking they had encountered some kind of monster. The Maka Students stared blankly, most of them not understanding what this was. But a grave look appeared in the eyes of those like Nali.
Chen Chuan’s expression grew serious when he saw Duma’s grotesque transformation. He seemed to recall Cheng Zitong mentioning this kind of change once.
’This must be what happens after a Fighter reaches the Second Limit. They can use breathing techniques and drugs to stimulate the rapid growth of their Mutated Organization, achieving an instantaneous boost in strength.’
’The only problem is, it’s no different from burning through your Life Force. Under these conditions, the Mutated Organization’s growth is uncontrollable and is bound to usurp the body’s original functions.’
’In other words, without immediate treatment to reverse the effects, his life was now on a countdown.’
An enemy like this was far more powerful than before. And it seemed he had no intention of leaving himself an escape route.
Chen Chuan guessed, ’Duma must have made this choice because today’s events demand a conclusion.’
’In that case, I will oblige him.’
He reached for his buttons and unfastened them one by one. He took off his student uniform jacket, revealing a white shirt underneath, and tossed the outer garment aside.
Duma waited as he took off his jacket. Even though he knew that every passing second was another second shaved off his life, he still respected the opponent before him. This might very well be the last opponent he would ever face.
Once Chen Chuan was ready, a deep roar rumbled from Duma’s throat and chest. The ground beneath his feet shattered as he appeared before Chen Chuan in an instant. His hands clamped down on Chen’s shoulders, hoisting him into the air before viciously slamming him into the ground.
To Chen Chuan, the man was a blur, closing the distance faster than he could react. The instant he was grabbed, Chen Chuan circulated his Power, causing the Mutated Organization in his body to expand to block the expected penetration of his opponent’s Power. To his surprise, however, the anticipated Power never came. His opponent was merely using a common slam, a technique used by any ordinary Fighter.
He immediately inhaled, tightening the Mutated Organization within his body to protect his vitals. As he was slammed into the ground, it shattered on impact. Gravel flew in all directions, and a shallow crater formed beneath him.
But Duma wasn’t finished. He hoisted him up again, preparing to slam him aside. This time, however, Chen Chuan hooked a foot around Duma’s calf, momentarily rooting him in place. Duma looked up and met Chen Chuan’s calm gaze. Suddenly, he spun on the spot and, with a great heave of his arms, flung Chen Chuan through the air!
In mid-air, Chen Chuan tucked in his limbs, curling into a ball as his Mutated Organization tensed. An instant later, he slammed into the side of a nearby residential building. BOOM! The impact sent cracks spiderwebbing across the wall.
"Chen Chuan!"
Luo Kaiyuan involuntarily grew anxious. He clenched his fists, ready to charge Duma, but the Maka Students in front moved to block him. He reached out, grabbed one by the wrist, and twisted, forcing the student to his knees. With a kick, he sent the student flying, but he had only taken a single step forward when another Maka Student rushed to stop him.
Just then, however, Chen Chuan pushed off the wall behind him and got to his feet, looking completely unscathed. He brushed the dust from his chest and walked back onto the street.
Everyone stared in disbelief, seeing him completely unharmed. Guan Xinyin was also stunned, her eyes fixed on him for a long moment.
Chen Chuan glanced up at Duma and noticed his opponent’s breathing had quickened and his eyes were shot with blood. Though he had been overpowered moments ago, he had not been attacked with a Force Technique. This led him to a conclusion.
’Stimulating the Mutated Organization drastically increased his strength and speed, but the human body is a delicate instrument. A Force Technique, honed through years of relentless practice, can fail if even one part of that instrument is out of tune. Take Fang Dawei, for instance. He lost the ability to use his Power after being modified with an Implant.’
’So, even though Duma’s physical stats have been boosted, he hasn’t adapted to the changes yet. That must be why he can’t smoothly execute his familiar Force Techniques. He’s forced to rely on a fighting style that depends purely on his physical advantages.’
’There’s nothing wrong with that strategy, of course. Brute force can overcome any technique, as the saying goes. As long as your strength is overwhelming, you can take down an opponent even without Power. The key, however, is that you *can* take them down. It’s obvious this abnormal state is placing a huge burden on him. In that case, I should force him to keep exerting himself and drain his stamina.’
