Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 108 - 96: Reality
A few more days passed, and it was soon the end of November.
Chen Chuan was supposed to have his monthly exam, but after getting his Weapon Permit, it was no longer necessary. It wasn’t just the monthly exam—now he didn’t even have to take the midterms or finals.
After all, obtaining a Weapon Permit was proof of his strength. His actual skill level had already surpassed that of the average student in his year, or even in higher years. Measuring him with ordinary assessments was completely pointless.
This meant he didn’t have to worry about preparing for exams. However, he wasn’t idle. Next month, he would likely be assigned new missions and undergo more advanced training. So for the past few days, he had been going to the Military Combat Department’s training hall early every morning to spar with the students there and become more familiar with using the Long Blade.
Of course, they only used training weapons for sparring. Even though he had a Weapon Permit, there was no need for him to carry a weapon around the academy all day.
On this day, after finishing his training, he returned to his dorm, planning to wash up and get something to eat. But as he got out of the elevator and walked into the dormitory area, he saw someone standing in front of his door. It was a handsome young man with a pale complexion, dressed in an expensive, exquisite suit of foreign design.
Weidong was also standing there, staring at the man, who stared right back.
He looked at the two of them in surprise, then turned to Weidong and asked curiously, "Brother Wei, what’s going on?"
Weidong said, "Brother Chen, he doesn’t look like a good person."
Chen Chuan smiled. "This is a dormitory building. If the dorm supervisor let him in, then I’m sure it’s fine."
Weidong thought for a moment and said, "But he still doesn’t look like a good person."
Chen Chuan hummed in acknowledgment and glanced at the young man again. "I’ll handle this." Weidong replied, "Alrighty then." With that, he quickly returned to his room, closing the door with a THUD.
Chen Chuan then turned to the young man and asked, "Is there something you need, senior? Why are you standing in front of my dorm room?"
Hearing this, the handsome young man’s previously unruffled expression changed. He turned to Chen Chuan and said, "So you’re Chen Chuan?"
Chen Chuan nodded. "I am."
The handsome young man studied him for a moment. "I have something to discuss with you in private." He added, his tone heavy, "It’s very important for you."
Chen Chuan glanced at him, took out his key, and opened the door. He gestured with his hand. "Please."
The young man walked straight in without a shred of courtesy. Chen Chuan followed him, went to the cabinet, poured a glass of water, and said, "I only have plain water."
The young man stopped in the middle of the living room and turned around. "My name is Jing Lin, and I’m not your senior yet."
Chen Chuan nodded. "Then, Mr. Jing, you said you had something to discuss. What is it you wish to talk about?"
Jing Lin said flatly, "My teacher wishes to see you. You may not know who he is, so I’ll tell you now: he’s from Central City. This is an opportunity for you, and my teacher rarely gives people opportunities."
"You’re very lucky. I don’t know why my teacher has suddenly taken an interest in you; you don’t look particularly special, after all. Alright, that’s all I have to say. Come with me."
With that, he turned and walked directly toward the door.
But when he reached the door, he realized Chen Chuan hadn’t moved from his spot. He frowned, displeased. "What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and follow me."
Chen Chuan turned around. With his back to the floor-to-ceiling window, a long shadow fell to one side, obscuring his face, but his voice came through clearly. "I’m sorry, Mr. Jing, but I have no interest in meeting your teacher."
Jing Lin was stunned, as if he found it incredible. He looked Chen Chuan up and down and reminded him, "Do you have any idea what you’re saying? Do you not understand what this means? Forget it..." He seemed very impatient. "I’ll say it one more time. Now, follow me. We’re going to see my teacher. Do you understand?"
Chen Chuan replied in a natural tone, "I’m sorry. If that’s all you wanted to say, then I’ve already given you a clear answer. Mr. Jing, you may leave."
Jing Lin sneered. "Foolish!" He said, exasperated, "Do you really think what you’ve seen is all there is? I can’t stand self-righteous people like you."
Chen Chuan said calmly, "If you refuse to leave, I can have the dorm supervisor show you out."
Jing Lin stared at him for a moment, then let out a sharp laugh. He lowered his head, then raised it again, smirking. "I knew it would come to this. You people from these small places are always so arrogant and narrow-minded, like frogs in a well, with no idea what the real world is like."
He scoffed again. "I read about you in the newspaper. You’re supposed to be a good fighter. I’d like to see that for myself. And let you..." He tugged at his tie. "...re-evaluate your understanding of the world."
Chen Chuan’s gaze fell on him. "You want to spar with me?"
"Spar? Heh, if that’s what you want to call it, sure."
Chen Chuan nodded. "Alright. Let’s go outside." He led the way out, and Jing Lin followed.
A moment later, the two of them walked out of the hallway and onto the training grounds for that floor, then stood facing each other.
Chen Chuan loosened his shoulders slightly. Seeing Jing Lin standing there ramrod straight, with no intention of moving, he offered a reminder. "Don’t you need to warm up?"
Jing Lin said coldly, "No need. Let’s start now. It’ll be over soon anyway."
Chen Chuan said, "Then let’s begin."
Jing Lin raised a hand. "Watch closely." As he spoke, his body suddenly blurred. Without any visible movement, he seemed to vanish from his spot, reappearing at Chen Chuan’s side the next moment. He was even still holding his original standing posture.
Jing Lin glanced at Chen Chuan, who seemed to be standing perfectly still, a cold sneer touching the corner of his mouth. He reached out to grab Chen Chuan’s shoulder, but before his hand could land, a sharp pain shot through his palm. To his shock, he found that Chen Chuan had extended a hand and slapped his away.
Hm?
He was completely stunned. His movement was driven by his Mutated Organization, stimulated by a special technique that far exceeded the reaction speed of a typical Fighter. ’How could Chen Chuan, who’s at the First Limit at best, possibly keep up?’
Before he could recover from his surprise, Chen Chuan’s body spun around in a flash, bringing them face-to-face. With a crisp SMACK, Chen Chuan’s hand clamped down on his wrist.
Jing Lin’s eyes narrowed.
As Chen Chuan grabbed him, Power naturally seeped from his palm. If an ordinary person were caught like this, without a Mutated Organization reinforcing their wrist joint or a similar Power to resist, it was entirely possible for their wrist to be crushed in an instant.
But this time, he felt no opposing Power. The Power he sent out vanished as if it were a stone sinking into the ocean, eliciting no reaction. His opponent didn’t pull his hand back. Instead, he pushed it forward, sliding up a bit before his wrist dipped down and inserted itself under Jing Lin’s own. Throughout the motion, Chen Chuan’s entire arm moved like a slithering snake.
A cold light flashed in Jing Lin’s eyes. ’Once I have him entangled like this, a single twist is all it’ll take to shatter every bone in Chen Chuan’s arm. That’s the only way to teach him a lesson.’
But when he exerted his strength, he found what he had wrapped around wasn’t an arm at all—it felt like it was cast from steel. He couldn’t twist it in the slightest. A trace of disbelief appeared in his eyes.
’How is this possible?’
’This kind of entangled struggle, at its core, is a contest of toughness and the force emitted by our Mutated Organizations. How long has this kid been training? How much of a Mutated Organization could he have possibly formed in just two or three months? How could he possibly withstand the kind of pressure I’m exerting?’
Chen Chuan could feel waves of strength coming from his arm. More than that, he could sense that Jing Lin’s entire body held a coiled, tense power, almost completely disconnected from his breathing rhythm. He emitted his force with no warning and no pause. This was completely different from any enemy he had faced before.
But if this was all he had, Chen Chuan simply flicked his arm outwards. A tremendous power burst forth, and Jing Lin was involuntarily thrown off balance, stumbling back two steps.
Then, Chen Chuan stomped his foot, abruptly put his strength into it, and surged forward. Seeing this, Jing Lin’s pupils shrank. He grabbed Chen Chuan’s arm with both hands, simultaneously lowering his center of gravity in an attempt to drag him to a halt.
However, the move seemed to have no effect whatsoever. He was practically dragged forward by Chen Chuan, and the sound of a sharp, urgent scrape echoed across the floor.
After just a few steps, Chen Chuan had reached the wall. With a flick of his arm, Jing Lin’s entire body was suddenly lifted and swung sideways into the wall. His eyes flew open in shock. "You—"
With a BANG, the entire wall shuddered. But at the moment of impact, the muscles on his back rippled, deflecting the force.
Chen Chuan, however, was expressionless. He yanked him back, lifted his entire body into the air, and slammed him against the wall again!
"BANG!"
Jing Lin involuntarily let out a cough, his voice filled with shock and rage. "Stop! I said, stop!"
"BANG!"
Chen Chuan completely ignored him, slamming him against the wall again and again. The tremendous booming crashes could be heard throughout the entire seventh floor, causing some students to come out of their dorm rooms to see what was happening. The dorm supervisor also headed over with a grim expression.
The violent impacts continued. With each slam, Jing Lin’s face grew uglier. At first, he could still rely on his special musculature and Power to resist and dissipate the force. But as the slams continued relentlessly, he felt the tight grip he had on his strength begin to fail. The very bones in his body seemed to be loosening from the collisions. No matter how he tried to exert his strength mid-swing, he couldn’t counter that pure, immense power.
Most critically, despite such a frequent and intense struggle, Chen Chuan showed not the slightest sign of exhaustion.
"How is this possible..."
Jing Lin’s face was a mixture of shock and fury. After one more impact, he finally reached his limit. The power throughout his body instantly collapsed, as if a once-solid form had suddenly gone completely slack.
When Chen Chuan felt the arms wrapped around his own go limp like two dead snakes, he shook them off, tossing Jing Lin to the floor. He straightened his clothes and started to walk away. After two steps, he glanced back over his shoulder and said, "Welcome to the real world." And with that, he strode away under the watchful eyes of the crowd of students and the dorm supervisor.
