Chapter 307: Chapter 288: Giant Scorpion Attacks the Camp

Hearing Thomas’s grumbles, Mr. Thompson and Master Ye didn’t say much; they just smiled without replying.

Thomas was actually just grumbling verbally; he wasn’t truly resenting the two in his heart.

He understood that under normal circumstances, taking refuge in a car was more dangerous than standing out in the open after an earthquake, and the reason was simple: taking shelter in a car might protect one from flying debris, but it also restricted the field of view, preventing a timely response to any danger that could arise nearby.

After today’s daily earthquake ended, the survivors, led by the elderly group, began repairing the encampment, filling in the cracked ground and dismantling the teetering factory buildings.

And unlike yesterday’s midday, they wouldn’t use fine food bricks to prepare the meal today. Lunch, although still provided by the camp, could only be made from regular food bricks.

Watching many of the survivors start to busily move about the camp, Zachary was preparing to leave the camp to understand the situation at the military’s station, considering Robinson William and his team had been gone for over a day without word on their situation.

Just as Zachary was saying goodbye to his parents and about to leave the camp directly, to ensure its safety, he scanned the area surrounding the camp one last time with his Divine Sense before departing.

It was this scan that temporarily prevented Zachary from leaving the camp.

Although the land of the camp was pockmarked and the crops that had been planted were damaged,

the survivors were all busy within the camp and paid no mind to the state of the fields.

Troy had arranged sentry posts keeping watch over the surroundings of the camp, but through Zachary’s Divine Sense, he noticed numerous Giant Scorpions stealthily approaching the encampment from underground.

Upon discovering this, Zachary immediately sought out Troy who was considering whether to arrange for special forces members to help in the camp.

"Troy, I’ve detected some Giant Scorpions approaching the camp from underground. You must quickly take a look and make arrangements," Zachary said.

Hearing Zachary’s sudden intelligence, Troy instinctively glanced outside the camp. Although the ground in the outer fields was uneven, it certainly couldn’t hide the size of Giant Scorpions.

Zachary had just mentioned that Giant Scorpions were approaching the camp from underground, and although he wasn’t sure how accurate this information was, it was better to be safe than sorry at that moment.

To draw an analogy: if Troy’s cautious character wasn’t suited for the early stages of entrepreneurship,

his stability after a successful venture, though not leading to significant growth, would certainly prevent the business from declining.

This was why Robinson William, before his departure, had arranged for Troy to take over the special forces team due to his stable character.

After informing Troy, Zachary didn’t linger and went to find his father, Mr. Thompson, who was with Master Ye.

"Dad, I need to speak with you and Master Ye about something; it’s not convenient here with all these people around. Let’s talk in the car," he said.

Since the location where Mr. Thompson and Master Ye were was not far from where the Black Car was parked, Zachary simply brought them to the car to explain the matter.

Seeing his son, who had already said his goodbyes and was prepared to leave, return to find him, Mr. Thompson was taken aback for a moment before, as if realizing something, he hurried into the Black Car with Master Ye and Zachary.

In the Black Car, Mrs. Thompson, who had been playing with the little ones, looked up to see her son returning with her husband and Master Ye, and she was startled, a sudden, inexplicable premonition of something bad about to happen settling in her heart.

After Zachary closed the car door, he then addressed the others: "Just as I was about to leave a moment ago, I unexpectedly discovered several Giant Scorpions lurking in the fields around the camp.

While I’m not sure when they’ll attack the camp, their current position is certainly a danger to us. I’ve already notified Troy, whom Robinson William appointed as his successor when he left.

So you needn’t worry about the others. Do you remember what I said this morning? The Black Car is professionally modified. As long as you don’t leave the vehicle, its sturdy body can withstand the Giant Scorpions’ attack."

While Zachary was in the Black Car reminding everyone to stay safe, Troy, leading members of the Hunting Team, started notifying the busy survivors in the camp that they might soon be under attack by Giant Scorpions, advising them not to panic and to follow the instructions of the Hunting Team.

However, Troy’s warning failed to raise the vigilance of some survivors. After all, the camp had formed a dedicated Hunting Team to hunt Giant Scorpions, and throughout the time since its establishment, members only suffered serious injuries during the initial hunts.

As they became familiar with the attack methods of Giant Scorpions, the Hunting Team would often return with only minor injuries, sometimes even completely unharmed, boasting about their returns, and most of the scouts would come back without a scratch.

Now, when the survivors in the camp encountered Giant Scorpions, they no longer felt nervous or afraid but rather looked at them as though they were ingredients, sizing up the Giant Scorpions that appeared before them.

After Troy informed all the survivors in the camp, he understood their thoughts, which were quite similar to his own.
