CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 249: Empath Crystalization
"Holy shit!" Astrid cursed then covered her mouth immediately. She was not the kind that cursed a lot.
Professor Abraham chugged his aluminum flask again, "Atta girl!"
Professor Brand smiled, "Maybe we aren’t having a second Iris. We have the first Selina."
Rafina Brand was a melee fighter with her main power as Psycho-Blade. She could imagine Selina as a void-killing soldier on the battlefield already. She was the one that could bring glory to Psycho-Blade.
Professor Brown was the only one that didn’t have much reaction about everything. "Maybe. She’s very talented in Cast as well. A very rare breed."
"I have to admit, Miss Isles." Solomon raised his hands and clapped slowly. "You are much more powerful than I thought you were."
Selina raised the Nether Sword and aimed it at Professor Brookes.
"Your pets are broken. Three died and two barely survived. Are you going to keep fighting?" Selina said.
Solomon shook his head, "There is no need."
He flicked his hands, recalling the two wraiths back into his body. "If I want to beat you, I’d need Hazard wraiths. I am petty, but I won’t be that stupid to dishonor myself. Using Hazard force upon a freshman is despicable.
You have won, Miss Isles. Fair and square."
Solomon clapped his hands twice. The barrier of the arena deactivated.
"100 ISP Units are rewarded to Selina Isles for overcoming Professor Solomon Brookes in combat."
A mechanical voice spread throughout the arena, acknowledging the result.
The crowd went wild.
"Holy hell! She really did defeat the Black Professor!"
"Not really. She only beat him on Menace-level. If he used Hazard-level powers, that would be a different story."
"But that is still an achievement. Can you beat Professor Brooke even if he only used Menace power?"
"Big Sister! Big Sister! Big Sister!"
"Dark Knight! Dark Knight! Dark Knight!"
"Selina! Selina! Selina!"
The crowd chanted her name and her titles. She bathed in the light of fame and recognition. But the goth girl didn’t feel much accomplishment. She felt nothing because of the armor.
"You are much more honorable than I thought, Professor Brookes."
The Nether Sword disintegrated. The armor turned back to black smoke and returned to the helmet. Selina took the Abyssal Helmet off.
"I don’t know why you targeted me. But I hope that you can let it go. Whatever happened is already in the past." Selina said.
The goth girl approached the black panther and petted it.
Mater purred loudly. "Wanna ride me out of here?"
"What are you talking about?" Selina’s cheeks were a little bit red. She whispered under her breath. "We can’t do it in public."
"What are you even talking about? I’m big now. I can definitely carry you.
Do you know the difference between a good villain and a super villain?" The black panther meowed.
"What?"
"Presentation."
The black cat went under Selina and pushed her to his back. The black panther rushed out of the arena in a blur with the eyes of the audience following behind them.
"Damn! She’s cool!" Some students commented.
Professor Brooke didn’t seem that much upset about losing. He gently got off the platform.
Professor Abraham approached him, "Why did you pick on my student, Solomon?"
"She reminded me of that girl, Iris. They’re both rule breakers." Solomon said.
"You can’t just bully my student. If you’re going to cause trouble again, I’ll have to meet you in the arena." Howard said.
"You think you can defeat me, Howard?" Solomon smirked.
"You little shit! Do you want to test that?"
Rafina got in between them. "Alright, knock it off! Don’t start a fight in front of the students! You’re not kids anymore."
The students were still slowly leaving the stadium. A few shared glances toward the group as they heard Howard and Solomon yelling at each other.
Solomon adjusted his gown, "Fine."
Howard didn’t say anything and simply turned his head away in disdain.
"What’s important right now is Miss Isles." Professor Brown approached, "and her Spirit Beast."
"He’s right. She’s very capable in all aspects. Chris told me Selina is very good at Casting as well. We may want to protect her." Rafina said.
"From what? The girl seems perfectly capable of protecting herself from what I’ve seen." Solomon said.
"Maybe amongst her peers. But there are people that like to see her death." Rafina grimly said. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
May left the stadium. She stood at the entrance and looked back. Her eyes squinted gently.
Transporter, real name Ben Flynn, approached May.
"Damn! That girl is really strong. Titan told us to bully her but I wouldn’t be able to beat her. How about you?" Ben said.
May shook her head. She was strong. She’s proud of herself for that. But she was still an average Menace Psychic. Not peak Menace like Selina.
"There are many ways to ruin her. Violence is not the only solution." May said and walked away.
Selina’s fight caused many classes to pause. Even Principal Graves knew about what happened. The students were thrilled because they thought that they may be able to skip a class for free. But that wasn’t the case. The classes piled up and were rescheduled to another time.
Selina’s Psycho-Slave class was moved to tomorrow. She went to her next classes.
Mater forced her to take five sub-classes. One of them was Empath Crystallization. It was the only course inside the Institute that taught Psychic on how to create Emotional Gemstones.
The black cat followed her into this class as it was also very interested in how the Chaos Users of this world extract this kind of resource.
Mater had transformed back into a small black cat and lay on Selina’s shoulders. They moved on to the Empath Crystallization class.
Selina could notice the change in everyone’s gaze toward her and Mater. They were much less at ease and purposefully put a distance between them.
"Am I that scary?" Selina said.
"You’re not scary, Señorita... But you’re different. When people are weak, they don’t have the guts to be close with someone above them. They will naturally shift toward those who are more similar to them... In wealth. In influence. And in strength."
"What if I was the strongest? Wouldn’t that make me incredibly lonely?" Selina’s eyes flashed all kinds of emotions.
"Yes, that is likely the case. But that’s a small price for being the strongest. The peak of the mountain is always lonely. You should get used to it." The black cat meowed.
"Right..."
"Light up, baby doll!" The black cat caressed Selina’s cheek. "This path may be lonely. But it had its perks. Watch closely."
As they walked into the class, the students turned their heads toward them.
