CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 197: Mimicry Mask
Once Mater’s Chaos Circuit went back to producing Chaos, his wounds began to heal quickly.
The solution that the Union gave him also expedited this process and made his regeneration even quicker.
"Interesting. This solution can use Chaos to enhance healing capability. It is a potion made just for Chaos Users." The black cat stroked its whiskers while Selina was petting his head inside the room.
"Is it really that good? Maybe Leslie can experiment with it and try to replicate it perhaps?" Selina said.
Mater nodded, "Exactly what I’m thinking as well. I already took a sample. I wonder if we can come into contact with even more solutions just like this."
"The Union is very strict with their resources. Maybe I can ask around?" Selina said.
"That would be perfect. But don’t overdo it. We don’t want to attract too much attention to ourselves."
"I will be careful." Selina nodded.
"By the way. How did you turn invisible back there?" The black cat meowed.
"Oh... When I ran away, I was worried that something might happen to you. So I tried to use the Dampening Static Field."
"You learn the skill on the spot?!" The black cat meowed.
"Something like that..."
"Damn, girl! You’re actually broken."
"What do you mean?!"
"Wait! I didn’t mean it like that!"
Afterwards.
The black cat opened its mouth and spat out the Dark Grimoire.
Originally, Mater wanted to leave the final spot for the upgraded Page of Imprisonment. But the cat didn’t know when Selina would learn to extract Emotional Gemstones for him to make new spells.
He scrapped the plan and decided to inscribe the disguise spell instead. The one that Aurora needed.
"Crow might be able to make use of this spell as well." The black cat stroked its whisker.
The Dark Grimoire opened up to the last empty page for Rank-2 Spells.
Selina nodded in agreement, "Crow can walk amongst us in public as well."
"That’s not what I meant. You remember Assassin?" The black cat meowed.
"Of course I remember him."
"From what I’ve gathered from his personal communication device, no one knew the true identity of Assassin. Only a select few do. These people aren’t around either and they’re not that close to Assassin."
"Are you planning to let Crow impersonate Assassin?" Selina widened her eyes.
"Very sharp. That is exactly what I want. Assassin has been missing for a few days now. The Atlas Seven must be very panicked right now and want to locate him. We can use this opportunity to swap Crow in."
"That is only if we can fool them."
"Don’t worry. Unless you have a very specific ability. My next spell will be able to fool all Rank-2 beings."
The black cat extended his claw and inscribed onto the leathery page of the Dark Grimoire.
The sketch slowly took form as Mater carefully realized it into existence. A mask slowly appeared on the page which its eyes and mouth hollowed.
"It is done."
The black cat finished the final touch by adding a tear to the corner of the mask. Colors immediately flooded to the page. It was a blood red mask with gold veins running on it. The third color invaded the small tear at the corner of the eye, it was a droplet of blue tear.
The information of the spell materialized.
[Mimicry Mask]
[Rank]: 2
[Effect]: You can manifest a mask using a catalyst that belongs to another being. The wearer of this mask will physically transform into the target. The mask will not disappear unless the caster will it to. The transformation requires a small amount of Chaos to maintain.
[Chaos Cost]: 1,000 Points
"Welp. Being a cat is broken." Mater laughed.
The original Mimicry Mask had a 5,000 Chaos Cost and had a limitation of 24 hours. The limitation was non-existent and the Chaos Cost was lowered by five times.
"Let’s try this spell out. Do you still have the device from Assassin, Selina?" Mater said.
Selina nodded and took out the device.
Mater placed the device between his paws. Red Chaos leaked out and wrapped around the thing. It distorted in his paws before retaining the shape of a red mask.
The black cat opened its mouth and summoned both Crow and Aurora.
"Try this on, Crow." The black cat meowed.
"Yes, Master."
Crow placed the Mimicry Mask on him. His fedora and trench coat disappeared. His body was also distorted to be more similar to Assassin. The shadow that made Crow transformed into a more realistic body suit.
Crow looked at himself.
"It’s not just an illusion. I’m actually him physically." Crow said.
"Woah!" Aurora clapped her hands in admiration.
The black cat grinned widely, "That’s the beauty of this spell. It can easily fool biometric scanning devices."
"Should I go to the Atlas Seven now, Master?" Crow said.
"You don’t know anything about Assassin yet. You may have his appearance but you don’t know his usual antics. You will need to learn about some general information as well.
Can I borrow your phone, Selina?"
Selina nodded and gave the cat the smart phone. Mater used the backdoor he had placed and accessed the Atlas Seven Database.
"This is the information you need to know about Assassin." Mater gave Crow Selina’s phone. He had arranged all the information Crow needed to know at the top.
Mater then looked over to Aurora.
"I don’t have anything related to my past life." Aurora said.
"We don’t need it, girl. You are the perfect catalyst already."
The black cat raised its paw and touched Aurora. He used her own Chaos to form a Mimicry Mask.
"Try it on." The black cat jumped back onto its bed.
Aurora nodded. She took a close look at the red mask with gold veins before turning it over and pushing it onto her face.
The mask seeped under her skin and fused with her body. Her white hair turned black. The glowing blue and white lines on her body disappeared. The cold aura around Aurora was also gone, instead, the warmth of the living returned to her.
This warmth wasn’t real and it was constructed by that mask using Aurora’s own Chaos.
"You’re so pretty, Aurora." Selina said.
The goth girl approached the wight and pinched her arm. Aurora’s skin was soft and smooth as butter. Now with the warmth of the living, it was even more enticing to touch.
"Damn it! Now I know why that boy became so crazy." Selina was referring to Levy.
"Hohoho! You’re as beautiful as ever, Aurora." The black cat snickered. "But I still like your old look better. This human appearance removed all your angelic and ethereal capabilities."
