Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Chaos Candle

’Is he a human or a wraith?’ That was the first question that Selina thought of.

She held the Ankh Badge tightly. This thing could notify her if there was an NCE nearby. Selina had never needed to use it because Mater was always there. His eyes were a much better scanning device than anything else.

The Ankh Badge didn’t react. That meant that it didn’t detect a nearby NCE.

The man approached Selina.

"Are you lost, girl? Where is your team?"

Selina stepped back. She didn’t trust the Ankh Badge wholeheartedly. One thing she knew was any device could be fooled.

Selina’s eyes flashed red as she used Chaos Eyes for a fraction of a second.

Psychics and wraiths both had NES. But they were different. Psychics’ NES was held inside their Psycho Force in their brain. So Chaos Eyes would see a cloud of concentrated Chaos around their head.

Wraiths didn’t have a Psycho Force in the head. Its entire being was fused with Chaos so Chaos would see a more balanced spread.

The man continued to close the distance. Selina attacked. Chaos Tentacles reached out from within her and plunged to the ground.

They reappeared around the man and wrapped around his ankles.

"Why are you doing this, girl?" The man’s smiley face disappeared.

"I don’t know what kind of game you’re playing. But you won’t fool me." Selina smirked. Her hands glowed up red as she punched the disguised wraith in the face.

The White Seam Factory became a staple amongst the Psychics. It could spawn an endless amount of NCEs. The number of destroyed NCEs had exceeded the number of victims in the fire long ago. But the place kept producing NCEs.

Some theorized it was because of the pocket dimension that it had created.

Some said because the NES of all the victims were mixed and redistributed.

There was, however, one important thing that all Psychics must know before entering the White Seam Factory. It was also mentioned in the manual that the pair of Psychics from before tried to sell to Selina.

The NCEs of this factory could disguise themselves so well that even the Ankh Badge couldn’t tell the difference.

Selina sent the wraith flying to the air. The candle in its hand flew up. Selina caught it. The candle was glued onto an ancient looking candle holder.

Selina looked over to the man from before. He had transformed into a burned body with no eyelids nor jaw. His tongue hung loosely from his mouth.

"Why did you attack me? Why!"

The wraith dropped the act and rushed at Selina.

In the East part of the factory, Crow was flying around trying to locate Selina. Mater was a little bit farther behind him, trying to farm as many wraiths as possible.

’Where are you, my lady?’ Crow thought to himself.

Down there, he saw a group of Psychics trying their best to overwhelm a wraith by using Chaos Tentacles.

Crow transformed back into his human form and landed on the wraith. He summoned a Spear and decapitated the wraith in a blink of an eye.

The Psychics immediately stepped back and stuck closer together. It was a group of high school girls still wearing their uniforms.

’How the hell are high school students here?’ Crow questioned in his mind.

"What is this NCE? He looks so different!"

"Stay sharp, everyone! This one might be very dangerous!"

The girls talked amongst themselves.

"I am not an NCE." Crow’s harsh voice echoed. "I need to find a girl. Black hair, pale skin, with a pair of black clothes. She has a tattoo on her chest."

"Are you talking about Big Sister Selina?"

"You saw her?" Crow said.

The girl shook his head, "No. But I can locate her. If you have something that she used before."

"Oh?" Crow raised an eyebrow.

The black cat opened his mouth and pulled in all the Chaos from the wave of wraiths.

"15 wraiths. 15 Chaos Spheres. These wraiths are too poor. But at least there are many of them."

Mater and Aurora had left the shelf area and arrived at the fabric area. This place had the floor made of vast pieces of fabric that stretched in the air. Mater found a few other wraith variations. They were all different types of workers inside the factory.

Suddenly, Mater saw a beautiful goth girl in the far distance. She also held a candle in her hand.

"Another goth chick? Does this city produce goths?"

The black cat didn’t hesitate and flew over to the girl. Aurora shook her head in disapproval.

’Master likes goth too much.’

As Mater approached closer, the goth girl transformed. Her limbs grew larger and longer. She jumped at Mater.

She was blocked outside of the Force Dome and couldn’t get through.

"Damn it! I was fooled!"

The black cat opened his mouth and crushed the disguised wraith with Nether Spheres. The candle fell onto the fabric and quickly burned out a hole on the ground.

The flame spread quickly and was about to destroy the entire platform but Aurora used Ice Pillar to stop it.

Mater flew down and caught the candle.

"This thing..." The black cat’s vertical pupils dilated.

"What is it, Master?" Aurora said.

"It’s not exactly a spiritual item. It’s more like... chaos artifact. A very fragile one."

Chaos Artifacts were items created, naturally or artificially, through pure Chaos.

The three Warlock Artifacts, the Dark Grimoire, the Submission Seal, and the Demonic Arsenal were all Chaos Artifacts.

They were a little bit different from spiritual items because the core of its energy came from Chaos, not Phasmon, the matter that made specters.

The black cat flooded Chaos into the candle to examine it more carefully.

The candle was a naturally born artifact. It could dispel illusion and gathered a very unique variation of Fury.

Fury was one of the main emotions of the Negative Emotional Spectrum.

"Unfortunately, this thing can break at any moment. If not, I might figure out a way to fuse this with the Chaos Collector of the Lambkins to make something."

The black cat blew on the candle and extinguished its flame. He did not need its power.
