"Lalo? That’s the kid that only got five years in juvenile because of Baek-un’s murderer right?" Selina frowned deeply.

"Yes. But please. I beg you. Don’t do anything. His house is very powerful and influential. Don’t throw your life away." Jesse said.

"Who told you I’m going to do that?" Selina smiled.

"Well. I saw that you almost killed Mitch."

Selina shook her head, "I only wanted to find out who the killer was. The media didn’t mention him. His name disappeared."

Jesse nodded, "That’s why I said his house is very powerful. They blocked all the mentions of his name."

"Do you know what happened?"

Jesse nodded. Then he began to tell Crow’s story. The life he once had.

The Union was a country of many races and origins. Its full name was the Federal Union of Valeria. The Union was one of the youngest countries in the world. But also the most technological advanced one.

However, it had a serious problem that it had been trying to fix for decades. The problem of classes.

People with power and influence could literally ignore the laws to an extent. People like the Zakharovs or the Von Schattenbergs.

The Von Schattenberg was similar to the Zakharovs in a sense that both were the wealthiest and most powerful families in the Union. Both in the living world and the supernatural world.

Lorenzo Von Schattenberg was the second child of the current patriarch, the head of the family.

Lorenzo, being raised in unimaginable wealth and power, was extremely spoiled. He thought of his classmates as toys and people as expendables.

"Wait a minute... Why is it so familiar?" The black cat frowned.

Mater just remembered that in the Database of the Zakharov, there were mentions of other ancient and powerful families. There was definitely a Von Schattenberg in there.

"Great. Aurora is an enemy of the Zakharovs. Now Crow is an enemy of the Von Schattenbergs.

Then I used the souls of the Red Keepers to make Bash. So the Red Keepers is also our enemy.

Selina grabbed him and covered his mouth. She pulled him onto her lap and hugged him tightly.

Jesse blinked his eyes a few times in confusion but decided to ignore the weird cat. He continued.

Lee Baek-un was an outsider. He didn’t speak a lot and didn’t have many friends. Crow was a nerd in his past life and his passion was TV Shows. Especially those about Mecha and Super Rider.

"Heh... Now I know why Crow’s Abyssal Armor was mechanical." The black cat continued to purr in Selina’s arm.

Baek-un was an easy target for Lorenzo. Because of the boy’s timid personality, Lorenzo slowly did more and more horrendous acts to him.

Jesse was one of Baek-un’s few friends. Unfortunately, he wasn’t always there to help him.

Jesse had to go away because he had some ’family’ business to attend to. He disappeared for a few weeks and when he returned, Baek-un had already died.

They said it was an accident but Jesse knew it wasn’t. Especially now that he had seen Mitch’s reaction.

Mitch was there that day.

Selina sipped the coffee mug. She let out a huge breath.

"Poor man." She said.

"With the influence and money that rich family has, they probably bribed the judge. Maybe even the jury or the police. It was decided as an Involuntary Manslaughter."

Jesse slammed the table heavily which startled Jennier.

"But I knew the truth."

Selina crossed her legs, "And what are you going to do about it?"

Jesse let out a long breath, "Nothing for now. But I have a way. I will make them pay for what they did to him."

"Baek-un is lucky to have a friend like you. He would feel some comfort knowing that." Selina said.

Jesse shook his head, "Doesn’t matter now. He’s already dead. The only thing he knew was that I had abandoned him."

"Oh, my dear boy! Your friend is actually much closer than you think." The black cat meowed softly.

"Which university are you two joining?" Selina changed the subject to lighten the mood.

"I’m going to the UAL!" Jennifer brightened up.

University of Avalonia, Aeliz. It was the most prominent one in Aeliz City.

"Jesse chose a weird university. They studied fiction there!" Jennifer said.

"Now, now. It’s not fiction. It’s Supernatural Phenomenon. I’m going to the Institute of Supernatural Phenomenon." Jesse said.

Selina’s eyes twitched gently. It was hard to catch the subtle change of her expression.

Mater stroked his cat whiskers, "So this boy is a Psychic also... Things have become much more interesting."

"Well then." Selina smiled. "We’ll be classmates then. I will be joining the ISP this semester as well."

Jesse’s head snapped toward Selina. He knew what that meant.

"You’re..."

Jennifer grabbed Jesse’s arm tightly. She misunderstood something.

"Jesse’s mine. Don’t you think of approaching him."

Selina chuckled gently.

"It’s not what you think, girl. My heart already belongs to someone."

"Oh..." Jennifer felt better after hearing that.

Jesse gulped involuntarily then said, "You’re like me?"

Selina took her ID out and showed Jesse. All citizens that signed the SCOA had a special mark on their ID that normal people would ignore.

Jesse grabbed the ID with shaking hands.

"Do you know about what happened to Baek-un afterwards?" Jesse said.

Selina nodded, "I do. I was the one that took the job."

Jennifer looked between the two people, "What are you guys talking about?"

"Don’t worry, Jesse. You’re not on this road alone." Selina said.

The goth girl waved goodbye to the couple as they left the coffee shop.

Mater could finally act normal. He dipped his face into the milk coffee on the table.

Jesse and Jennifer were wondering why Selina ordered two different cups of coffee.

Selina sighed, "Another nepo baby. Why are all nepo babies evil?"

Mater lifted his head up, "You’re a nepo baby. You turn out fine."

Then he immediately dipped his head back down to drink the coffee.

"I guess you’re right. I just thought that maybe I would have become like them in another life."

"The nature of a person can be influenced greatly by the environment. But I’ve seen many honored thieves. Priests that were as cruel as demons.

Selina smiled. She petted the cat gently, "You always knew what to say, my little prince."

Selina kissed him on the forehead. They spent a little while in the coffee shop before leaving to meet Justin, the criminal lawyer.
