Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Registration

The reason why the ACPD never had enough manpower was because there were too many NCEs to handle.

Alister was always seen in the station because he had been assigned there. Most of the other detectives were assigned to specific cases and rarely showed up in the station unless they were needed.

Selina and Becky entered the container. The black cat was being held by Selina.

Inside the container was a small makeshift office. A wooden table in the middle with lots of documents laying around. On the wall of the container were many pictures, threads, and pins.

Detective Flintstone lifted his head up.

His full name was Chase Flintstone. A young detective in his 30s.

"You are?" Chase said.

"My name is Selina Isles, Detective. This is Becky Martinez. We were wondering if we can register to enter the mansion tonight."

"Tonight you said?" Chase leaned back in his chair. "There are a few thousand bounty hunters that want to solve this case. A few hundreds are here. There is a list. Why should I let you in?"

"Because we are very experienced, Detective." Becky urged her chest forward and said proudly, "I have solved more than 50 Iron Bounties and a few Bronze Bounties."

Chase was not impressed. He looked over to Selina.

"Because I am powerful." Selina smiled sinisterly.

Chase’s brow furrowed. "You. You hold a lot of NES in your Psycho Force."

Chase pointed at Selina with his pen, "It can ruin your psyche."

"But the fact that I am still here talking with you proves that I am indeed who I said I am."

Chase nodded, "Of that, you are correct. The list tonight is full. But I can make an exception if you can show me something extraordinary. Show me the most powerful move you can do."

"Gladly."

Selina snapped her right palm open. The wooden table stretched unnaturally to either side.

This caused Detective Flintstone to stand up in surprise. His eyes widened.

"This is... Matter Deformation." A single bead of sweat ran down on his forehead.

"Indeed." Selina nodded.

She didn’t know what Matter Deformation was. But there was no harm in admitting it.

"This is a classified Psychic Skill. How were you able to learn it?" Chase said.

Selina quickly thought up an excuse, "My mother is a Neutralizer. Her name is Iris Sordenfield."

Chase took a deep breath. He readjusted his tie and pulled chairs for Selina and Becky.

"I’m very sorry for the inconvenience, Miss Isles. We didn’t know that you were here."

"You know my mother?" Selina sat down nonchalantly.

Becky fidgeted around and was a little shy. Selina pulled her down to sit as well.

Chase nodded. He sat down across from her. "Everyone that signed the SCOA knows your mother. There aren’t a lot of PHANTOM."

"I see."

"I have to say, Miss Isles. I am impressed. I know your mother is a Neutralizer, but to be able to learn Mater Deformation without even reaching Hazard rank yet is a huge achievement."

"A huge achievement? It is almost impossible!" Becky blurted out. "I have never heard of anyone that is able to do that."

Selina covered her mouth to laugh, "Please you two. Don’t make me embarrassed."

"Ugh. Hurry up, woman. We need to get into the mansion." The black cat meowed while laying on Selina’s laps with his belly up.

The goth girl rubbed his belly gently.

"Of course, Mater. I will get into it." Selina said.

Chase looked down at Mater, "Is he a familiar?"

"Nope. He’s my partner. Don’t be fooled by his cute appearance. He’s even more dangerous than me."

"I see." More sweat ran down on Detective Flintstone’s forehead. If someone else said that, he would say that they’re mad. But he wholeheartedly believed Selina.

With the name of her mother, Selina was able to have the registration done very quickly.

It wasn’t sunset yet and the wraiths wouldn’t appear. But Mater wanted to take a look inside the mansion. So they entered.

Becky followed them.

"What has happened since the examination, Selina? You seem different..." Becky said.

"Oh? A lot of things. We killed quite a lot of wraiths. Killed a mad scientist that obsessed with resurrecting his daughter. Busted a gang hideout."

"Wow!" Becky’s eyes lit up in admiration. "You’re so cool. I haven’t been able to do much lately."

"Don’t worry. You will catch up soon." Selina patted Becky’s shoulder.

Becky couldn’t help but twitch her mouth. In the beginning, she was the one who was deeper in the world of the occult and exorcism. But now, she couldn’t even compare herself to Selina.

"I heard that you’re going to the Institute, soon?" Becky said.

"That’s right." Selina nodded. "Doctor Avaline was kind enough to let me in."

"That’s great. I am also going into the Institute next semester. Maybe we can be classmates?"

"Of course! Classmate for life!"

The two fist bumped each other. They entered the mansion and went past the electrical blue barrier.

The mansion was a tall ancient structure with a pointy roof and an open front facade. It led directly into a big altar with many statues on it.

The place that the Lambskins lived was behind the altar.

Before they went crazy, this place used to be a small church for a very rare religion called Daism.

In Daism, there were seven major figures called the Immortals.

The Immortals weren’t gods. They were humans once and they found a path to enlightenment and immortality. The sole purpose of Daism was to guide its followers to the same path as the Great Seven and achieve immortality.

Selina stood in place and looked up the altar. Seven statues of seven extremely eerie looking gods.

They were all covering their faces with a large white cloth.

The black cat jumped out of her hands and climbed on the altar. He lifted up one of the white cloth and revealed the face beneath.

It was an agonizing face in fear of its life. Blood leaked out of its eye sockets and nose. Its teeth were all removed and were replaced with sharp long nails.

"How ugly." The black cat meowed. "Humans and their obsession with deities. It’s always the same."

Becky had a small shiver from looking at the face. While Selina was completely unfazed.

"Let’s go deeper," The black cat jumped down. The Dark Grimoire flew out of his mouth and caught him in the air.
