Chapter 91: No Choice

Duke Salvador was waiting in the room at a corner. He was following the fifth Princess and Princess Teimei into the forest before they disappeared suddenly.

Aiden looked outside at the darkness. But soon heard the disturbance. Unsure of what to expect, Aiden waited in the corner of Princess Cassandra’s room. And before anything else happened, the fifth Princess and Princess Teimei reappeared in front of them.

"Princess, you might feel dizzy. I think you should rest." Princess Teimei said as she rubbed her thumb over princess Cassandra’s palm.

Cassandra’s eyes were dark as she nodded her head. Prince Carl’s words were revolving around her mind.

’They know my mother?’

’How?’

"I will take your leave then. We will be meeting each other soon. After all, there is a huge welcoming banquet tomorrow." Princess Teimei smiled as she walked through the window, disappearing in the night.

Princess Cassandra’s eyes looked at the image that had gone far. "What a night." Cassandra sighed as she walked towards the bed.

She closed her eyes as she rested. Her thoughts are scattered in places. Cassandra moved around on the bed. She sighed and got up from the bed. Her body relaxed.

"I need to get my mind in place," Cassandra murmured as she lowered her gaze. Unable to come up with an explanation as to how Prince Carl would know her mother, Cassandra was getting frustrated.

"AHHH, This is irritating." Princess Cassandra pulled her hair in annoyance. She could not figure out anything anymore.

"What is the Princess thinking so hard about?" Duke Salvador said in a soft tone. He had been observing Princess Cassandra’s reaction for quite some time and she did not disappoint him at all. "Are you troubled?"

Hearing Duke Salvador’s voice, Princess Cassandra stiffened before her body relaxed. She readjusted herself and calmed herself down. "Do I look troubled?"

Princess Casandra blinked a few times as if proving her innocence. She did not object to anything that Duke Salvador was saying but did not confirm it as well.

"Very much so." Duke Salvador saw the fifth Ptinces’s smile. "You should share the problems to ease your mind."

"Yes, I should do that," Cassandra murmured as she blinked a few times. "But I don’t know where to start."

Duke Salvador came forward as he sat beside Princess Cassandra as if it was a normal phenomenon. Something that his body is accustomed to.

"Why don’t you start with the way you and Princess Teimei disappeared?" Aiden smiled as he touched Cassandra’s hand softly, trying to make his move as unnoticeable as possible.

"I don’t know. All I knew was that she told me to touch her hand and suddenly everything turned black. And then I was standing in front of Prince Carl within seconds."

Duke Salvador nodded. He looked at Princess Cassandra who did not say anything. His eyes were focused on the unknown as he blinked his eyes a few times.

’It is like transportation magic.’

Duke Salvador thought as his eyes turned sharp. ’If I am not mistaken we do not know what powers the Vivere Kingdom’s people hold. All we know is that they were separated by the first Emperor from the Empire.’

’They are known as dark magicians with unknown powers.’

Aiden wondered if the people had any other powers embedded within them. He was in wars with them but their true powers were indebted. Maybe that was why when the army had won land from the Vivere Kingdom there was a huge celebration in the Empire.

’But they look more focused on the fifth Princess rather than anyone else.’

’They did not want their land back. I am sure of it and I can also see that they have an ulterior motive.’

Duke Salvador looked at Princess Cassandra as he asked again. "What happened after that?"

"I don’t know. But they want me to go there with Lord Bentham." Princess Cassandra said as she looked at the Duke. Her eyes blinked a few times.

"There? Where?" Duke Salvador’s gaze darkened. His tone was low as if he would kill someone at any time.

Princess Cassandra did not notice such changes in Duke Salvador. Her gaze blurred as she pushed her lips up. "To the Vivere Kingdom."

Duke Salvador’s hand on Cassandra tightened. "They want you to go there?"

Princess Cassandra nodded her head as she said in a soft tone. "Yes, they said Lord Bentham will be going to the Vivere Kingdom so as his fiance I should go there too."

"But that doesn’t make any sense. Why would you shift for someone who you hardly know?"

"Because I am going to marry that person." Cassandra’s voice was firm. But as soon as those words were said she looked low and continued in a low tone. "The whole Empire knows that I will be marrying Lord Bentham. It is only natural that I will go there with him. But .."

"But what?" Duke Salvador asked in a panic. He did not understand why the fifth Princess was so confident that they would marry.

’As if I will let go of the two.’

Duke Salvador wanted to say that out loud but he controlled his tone. He knew that this was something that he should not be saying out loud.

"But Lord Bentham had always said that we will not marry in the end." Cassandra’s voice was like a whisper.

Duke Salvador’s gaze widened. ’What did the fifth Princess just say?’

Princess Cassandra was silent. She did not know if the Duke had listened to her words or not but she hoped that he did not. Cassandra had never intended the Duke to listen to them.

Aiden was deep in his thoughts.

’If what Princess Cassandra said is true, then Achard will not marry her.’

’But when I talked with him the other day he was so sure that he would marry the fifth Princess.’

’What is the truth?’

’Is my friend being sneaky with me now?’

’Is Achard the mastermind?’

’Did he stop me because he wanted to take Princess Cassandra to the Vivere Kingdom?’

"That little ..." Duke Salvador said in an irritated tone. He controlled his burning desire to kill his best friend as he took some deep breaths.

"Are you okay Duke?" Cassandra asked in a soft tone. She looked at the Duke who was looking uncomfortable.

"Yes, I am." Duke Salvador said in a soft tone. His gaze softened as he looked at Princess Cassandra. "Princess you tell me something."

Princess Cassandra blinked a few times. She did not know how to answer. There were a few things that made Cassandra confused. She herself did not know what Prince Carl was hiding.

Princess Cassandra smiled when she saw the hopeful gaze of the Duke. "Yes .."

"Does the Princess want to go to the Vivere Kingdom?" Duke Salvador said with a lot of hope. He wanted to hear ’no’ for an answer but there was something in his mind that said that the fifth Princess might tell otherwise.

"I don’t know."

"You don’t know?" Duke Salvador said as he raised his eyebrows. There were many things he wanted to say but now looking at the fifth Princess, Duke Salvador swallowed his words.

"I feel like not going but I think I have to go." Princess Cassandra said in a dull tone. It was as if her soul had left her body. "I have no choice."

"Why do you have no choice?" Duke Salvador’s hold on Princess Cassandra’s hand tightened. His gaze sharpened as he said in a firm tone. "If you don’t like it then I will do everything in my power to stop you from going."

Princess Cassandra blinked as she looked into Duke Salvador’s eyes. She swallowed as she fought back her tears. Her voice trembled. "But I have to go. I should go."

Duke Salvador did not understand what to think anymore. Many thoughts were running wide in his brain. "Why should you? Is someone blackmailing you?"

Duke Salvador’s eyes darkened. "You have to tell me if that is the case. You should not try to solve such problems by yourself. Promise me, Princess. You have to tell me."

Princess Cassandra blinked as confusion filled her gaze. ’I want to believe his words.’

Cassandra smiled in a soft tone. Her body was filled with warmth and belongingness. "He knows something about me."

Duke Salvador’s gaze turned dark. "What happened? What does he know? You should tell me, Princess. I will help you. I will not let them affect you."

Princess Cassandra was filled with a smile. Her lips curled up into a smile. "I know. The Duke is here to help me because of the diary."

"No." Duke Salvador held Cassandra’s chin in his hand. "It is because it is you."

Cassandra’s eyes blinked. Her face turned red as her heartbeats fastened. Her body was getting heated up as her body did not relax.

"Duke .."

"Princess, answer me. Do you want to go there? Not because someone is going there nor because someone is blackmailing you, but because you want to go."

Cassandra looked into the Duke’s eyes. Her gaze softened as her heart was filled with a certain determination. "I want to go."
