CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 77: Yellow or Blue
Aiden walked through the room as he looked around.
"Duke." a voice called making Duke Salvador stop in his tracks. "You are here?"
"Your Highness." Duke Salvador bowed his head as he smiled. "Even you are here."
Aiden looked at Crown Prince Cedric as his gaze was observing his every move.
"I came here to meet the Empress." Prince Cedric’s lips curled up as he continued. "But what brought the Duke here?"
"I am here to look at the security." Aiden looked at the guards standing near the door. "We have been informed that the Vivere Kingdom’s people will be reaching the palace at an early hour."
"Hmm .." The crown Prince said in a small tone. His gaze was following the Duke’s as he waited for him to say something else.
There was an awkward silence between the two which could not break. Both the men were unable to say a thing to ease the tension.
"Does the Duke have any plans tonight?" the Crown Prince asked in a low tone. "If the Duke is free then why not meet for a cup of alcohol before the tension starts. The Vivere Kingdom’s people are coming here tomorrow and the Capital will be in stress till they leave the Empire."
Aiden looked at the Crown Prince whose eyes were looking at him with expectations. "I cannot slag off now. Your Highness should know that."
"I know." Prince Cedric said in a low tone as his gaze looked down. "But I was hoping that we could sit together and talk like old days. There are a lot of rumors going around the Palace regarding the Duke that are concerning?"
"Rumors?" Aiden raised his eyebrows as he folded his hand. His aura indicated that he wanted to know more.
"Yes, regarding Lord Bentham and .."
"Oh.." Duke Salvador laughed, as his body relaxed. His gaze softened as if the rumors were not a big deal to think about. "It must be the truth and not the rumor then if it concerns Lord Bentham."
The Crown Prince’s eyes widened as he looked at the Duke with wonder. "If that is the case then does Duke Salvador have any Princess in mind?"
Aiden’s gaze sharpened.
’Does I have any Princess in mind? For Archard Bentham?’
’Of course, I have.’
’Anyone except the fifth Princess.’
Aiden smiled but did not say those words. He looked at the Crown Prince as he replied in a soft tone. "I do have one."
The Crown Prince swallowed. He was angry that his people were not able to unfold the name of the Princess that made an impression on the Duke.
"I did not know that the Duke knew my sisters so well." The Crown Prince smiled as his lips curled up. "Is it the girl in the red dress?"
"Girl in the red dress?" Duke Salvador asked as his eyes were full of questions.
"Yes, the one that you danced to within the victory banquet?" The Crown Prince smiled as he asked in a sweet tone.
Aiden was in deep thoughts. He could not understand who the Crown Prince was trying to talk about.
’The victory banquet?’
’The girl I danced with?’
’There was only one person that I had danced with.’
’Wasn’t it the fifth Princess?’
’Yes, it was.’
Aiden frowned when he thought about the Crown Prince’s words.
’Why would I let Achard be married to the fifth Princess when all I am trying to do is break them apart.’
’The Princess should stay with me and not someone else.’
Aiden’s eyes turned dark as he looked at the Crown Prince. His narrowed eyes were brewing a storm inside that confused Prince Cedric.
"I don’t remember dancing with a girl dressed in red," Aiden said in a serious tone, leaving no place to argue.
"But didn’t you say you had a dance with a Princess to the Emperor?" The Crown Prince asked as his eyes widened at Duke Salvador’s words.
"Yes, I did." Aiden nodded his head. "But I never said that the Princess wore red."
"Then who .." The Crown Prince was confused. Everyone was focused on the fact that the Princess had worn a red dress. Even the Empress and especially Princess Valeria was searching for the lady even now.
But if it was not a red dress then only a few Princesses remained. The Crown Prince realized that they were searching in the wrong direction.
"She could have worn a yellow dress or a blue dress. To be honest I was not focused on the dress she wore nor was I focused on how she looked." Duke Salvador said as he smiled in peace. It was as if he had guessed what the Crown Prince was thinking. "I just knew that she was a Princess."
Aiden did not wait for the Crown Prince to say anything else. "I should not keep you from attending your work as well." Duke Salvador said. "Your Highness is a busy man indeed."
Aiden bowed his head as he left the place leaving a sullen-faced Prince Cedric behind.
------------
"Princess, when will Ed come?" Amy asked as she looked at the sky that had turned dark. Even though she did not want to ask for forgiveness, there was a pang of guilt in her heart.
Princess Cassandra followed Amy’s gaze as she looked at the darkness outside. "He should be here anytime now."
Cassandra was in deep thoughts. She had tried talking with Blazh in the daytime asking about how Ed was, but all Blazh said was Ed would report it to her himself.
Even if that was true, something confused Cassandra even more. She could not hear what Blazh was thinking which irritated her a lot. It was something that she wanted to know but suddenly Blazh had stopped thinking midway.
All the man thought throughout the day was about food and his training.
Cassandra sighed as she waited for Ed to come by faster. There was an announcement telling all the Royal family that the Vivere Kingdom’s people will be coming at an early hour.
’If Ed comes late then how can I tell him all the things properly?’
’I have to get some sleep as well. I cannot go out to meet the Vivere Kingdom’s royalty looking like a dead person.’
’When will you come, Ed.’
Cassandra wondered as she and Amy waited patiently.
Soon there was a sound near the window and a man in black entered.
"Princess," Ed said in a low tone. "I ask for forgiveness for being late."
Cassandra smiled as she waved her hand. "No, you had work." Cassandra’s eyes shifted towards his hand to look at what had happened to the wound.
Aiden followed his gaze as a smile formed on his face. The fifth Princess did not ask so he did not answer.
Amy, who was standing, came forward as she looked at the wound on Ed’s hand. The guilt she was feeling increased. It was as if a huge stone was kept on her heart.
"Ed. I am sorry." Amy said in a low tone as she stood in front of the man in black. Even though his whole face was covered, Amy could feel that the man was also not fond of her.
"I did not realize that the Princess was so attached to you as a friend. It was my mistake to think otherwise that had harmed you. I am ashamed of the deeds I have done. I am sorry." Amy’s tone was wrapped in a gloomy tone.
Aiden looked at Amy who was looking down at the floor and fiddling with her hands. He could sense the guilt and he knew who it was that might have made Amy realize her mistake.
’But it was not a mistake.’
’If it was not for you, I might have not known how I am behaving near Princess Cassandra.’
’If you would not have said those words I might have never thought of breaking Lord Bentham and Princess Cassandra apart.’
’I should be thankful for you.’
Aiden looked at his palm which still had the wound marks which he had done himself and then at Princess Cassandra who was looking between him and her lady in waiting.
Aiden could see the expectation in her eyes. He sighed as he shook his head.
"It is all right. It is all in the past." Ed said in a low tone as he looked at the fifth Princess.
"Princess, Duke Salvador asked me to learn as much as possible today itself. Can we get started?" Aiden’s words were filled with seriousness, making them unable to be avoided.
"Yes." Cassandra looked at Amy as she smiled. "Amy, I need privacy. Make sure that no one enters the room."
"Princess .." Amy’s eyes widened. Even though she had asked for forgiveness, Amy could not let the two stay alone in a room. She had even planned to sleep on the floor in the Prince’s room. But now Princess Cassandra wanted her to leave, making Amy unable to react.
Cassandra walked towards Amy as she said in a small tone that only they could hear. "Amy, remember how I taught you how to control the powers?"
Amy nodded her head. She had been practicing the method that the Princess had taught her and felt that was stronger now.
"Duke Salvador had instructed me to teach it to Ed," Cassandra said but did not explain further. Amy was intelligent as she understood the hidden meaning in it.
"Yes, Princess," Amy said as he left the room looking back from time to time towards Ed, giving him warning signs.
Aiden laughed as he ignored it all. His attention was solely focused on Cassandra who smiled at him.
"Should we start now?"
