Chapter 541: Not Over

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" Ku Jin threw his motorcycle aside and leaped down, almost running straight towards the deformed car at the base of the cliff. "XIU is fucking insane! Why couldn’t he pick a warmer day when it’s not snowing so heavily?!"

A few guards had acted faster than him and pulled the two people out before the car’s engine could explode. From a distance, Ku Jin could see them huddled around the two bodies on the ground, whose current fate was unknown.

"How are they?!" Ku Jin shouted as he approached, his eyes darting between the bloodied and battered forms of Luo Xuan and He Juan, both unconscious. His gaze instantly zeroed in on their chests which, albeit weak, still rose and fell with each breath they took.

One of the guards replied hesitantly, "They’re still alive, but the degree of their injuries..."

A small crowd had gathered along the road, and it wouldn’t take long for the police and reporters to arrive as well. Just then, another car skidded to a halt above them, and an extremely familiar voice roared, "Get out of my way, you fucker!"

Ku Jin’s head instantly whipped to the direction of the sound, and his heart skipped a beat when he spotted Jia Molei, whom he had not seen for months due to the fact that the man kept hiding from him. He was stopped by a guard when he intended to come down, and the way he threw his tantrums was so cute that Ku Jin couldn’t hold back a grin.

He whistled sharply, attracting the two people’s attention. Jia Molei’s expression instantly soured when he saw him, but Ku Jin acted as though he noticed nothing at all and beckoned for him to approach.

Jia Molei glared at the guard before making his way down.

Ku Jin couldn’t resist teasing the man when he came near. "You’ve finally decided to grace me with your presence after all this time, huh?"

Jia Molei did not even spare him a glance as he crouched down and began a preliminary examination on He Juan. Deep lines furrowed his brows, and though his mouth was cursing the man’s recklessness and stupidity, Ku Jin could hear the underlying concern beneath the harsh words, and it wiped off the smile on his face. His bottomless eyes bore down on Jia Molei, who steadfastly ignored his presence.

"This son of a bitch..." Jia Molei sucked in cold air when he got to He Juan’s fractured skull which had undoubtedly smashed onto a hard and solid surface during the crash. The things he could discern with his eyes alone were not sufficient; he had to bring He Juan to the operation room as soon as possible! With that in mind, he began to stand up and walk away to fetch Chen Youzhi, but Ku Jin hastily blocked his path,

"Hey, hey, hey, where do you think you’re going?" He asked in that obnoxious voice of his. "Did I say that you can leave?"

Jia Molei raised his head to the heavens as though asking for a semblance of patience, before turning his head to give Ku Jin a piercing glare. "Since when do I care about your damn opinion?" When he noticed that Ku Jin wouldn’t back down, he cocked his head toward the other individual who looked no less horrible than He Juan. "Also, don’t you have more important things to take care of? Be careful, he will die if you leave him alone for long."

Ku Jin’s face instantly darkened because he knew that Jia Molei’s words had hit the mark. Even if he was not knowledgeable about the medical field, he could tell that Luo Xuan’s breath was getting fainter and fainter. Despite his playful and devil-may-care attitude, he really respected Luo Xuan as his Boss, and thus there was no way he could leave the omega to die just like this.

However, it did not mean he could allow Jia Molei to walk away so easily, not after he almost went insane looking for the man for the past few months. "Aren’t you here?" he questioned, the implications behind his words were clear.

He wanted Jia Molei to treat Luo Xuan as well, for Jia Molei was the best doctor he had ever known. Just right, he could also keep a watchful eye on the other man. What was this, if not hitting two birds with one stone?

Alas, how could Jia Molei not know what this bastard was thinking? He sneered, "Sorry, my time and attention are limited, and I can only save one person."

Not wanting to waste any more time, Jia Molei ran up the hill and waved at Chen Youzhi, signaling for the man to bring the stretcher down. As he did so, Ku Jin’s voice echoed behind him, a stark threat hanging in the air,

"This is not over, Molei."

Jia Molei made a gagging motion when he heard that, only to choke for real when he accidentally inhaled a mouthful of frigid snow. Who did Ku Jin think he was, someone who would be scared by this lousy threat? Couldn’t he take the sign and get lost?

He raised his middle finger, a mockery sneer forming on his lips, "Oh, I’d fucking love to see you try."

Ku Jin was a dangerous man, he admitted that fact. He was akin to a sharp and deadly sword. That was, if he was wielded by the right person. No matter how exquisite and lethal a weapon was, if it ended up in the hands of a child, it would be no different than a stick. And judging from Jia Molei’s initial assessment earlier, he could tell that Luo Xuan’s condition was worse than He Juan, meaning Ku Jin would most likely be occupied for a prolonged period of time and wouldn’t have the chance to hunt him down.

With that in mind, Jia Molei held his chin high and shouted at Chen Youzhi who was already halfway down, "Come here and bring him away! Hurry!"

They left swiftly before the police arrived. Jia Molei settled in the backseat with He Juan, applying emergency treatment to staunch the blood flow. His expression was thunderous as he glared at the comatose man. Oh how he wished he could beat this man up for all the trouble he had caused!

"Damn it!" Chen Youzhi abruptly slammed his fist on the wheel, frustration lacing his voice. "We were tailing him secretly because we were afraid he would do something stupid, but who could have guessed that he’d actually..."

"Yeah, he’s an idiot for sure," Jia Molei clicked his tongue. "Drive faster. If he dies on the road, it’s all on you."

That succeeded in shutting Chen Youzhi up in an instant. He floored the accelerator without a word, propelling the vehicle through the darkness like the tail of a meteor and crossing paths with the police car. It was fortunate that Jia Molei’s temporary basecamp was nearby, and they reached their destination in less than ten minutes.

He Juan was swiftly carried to the sterile room, while Jia Molei went to gather the necessary supplies, ready to tackle this operation by himself. To be precise, he was assisted by Chen Youzhi, but with the man’s meager amount of medical knowledge, he might as well be alone. Not that he’d ever had an assistant throughout his entire career. He needed not one before, and he needed not one right now either. He had always managed to carve one miracle after another with his scalpel, and this time too...

"I can do this," he forced out through gritted teeth as he connected He Juan’s vitals to the monitoring equipment, preparing himself for a long and perilous operation. "Bastard, you’d better not die on me!"
