Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 503: Mood for a Gamble
A distance away from the explosion, near the shore, Ku Jin shielded his eyes with his hands and let out a sharp whistle. A delighted grin spread across his face as he taunted, "Did you enjoy my little gift? Unfortunately, I predicted your prediction, and you, Marius Morningstar, have lost the game."
He made a gun gesture at the burning remnants that floated amidst the dark expanse of the sea. "Bang!"
Humming a random tune, he waited patiently until the Interpol had their full focus on the fallen helicopter before riding his speedboat to the cargo ship. He climbed up using the anchor rope and flipped himself effortlessly onto the deck.
"Wow!" He let out an astonished sound at the sight that greeted him.
Everywhere his eyes went, blood soaked the ground and corpses strewn around, both of the agents and their own people. It was apparent how ferocious the battle had been. However, Ku Jin remained unperturbed and continued humming as he loaded his handgun, twirling it in his hand. He strolled around the ship, stepping indifferently over the blood pool and the bodies. When he came across survivors, still groaning and twitching and desperately trying to seek his help, he mercilessly shot them down regardless of their identity or whose side they were on.
The further he ventured, the more dead bodies he encountered. Until at one point, he keenly perceived the subtle shift in atmosphere and his wicked grin widened. There you are.
As a Beta, he might lack the ability to sense pheromones, but it did not include the sheer oppressive aura in the air which could only come from one person. And sure enough, as he peered into the back of a huge cargo truck, he spotted a familiar slender figure and long brown hair, currently locked in an altercation with an Interpol agent.
Ku Jin did not step forward to provide assistance. Instead, he merely leaned against the truck, crossed his arms and watched with interest. For he knew that the outcome of this battle was already decided.
Luo Xuan had never lost in a one-on-one fight before.
"How is it?" A derisive and haughty laugh escaped Luo Xuan’s lips as he pressed the sharp edge of the katana against the man’s fragile neck, coaxing forth a steady stream of crimson liquid. "Satisfied yet? Or are you still going to underestimate Omegas? Hmm? I wouldn’t mind playing with you until the end."
Hearing that, Ku Jin couldn’t help but interject, "As much as I want to let you, Boss, it seems like they’re sending one of their vessels this way. Well, unless we’re staying behind and starting a corpse party?" Just the mere thought of it was enough to make his blood boil in excitement, and his tone was filled with hope as he offered the suggestion.
Alas, it seemed like Luo Xuan was not willing to let him loose tonight because he swiftly got off of the man’s body and swung his katana, flicking away the blood that dripped from the blade before sheathing it back.
"I’m getting bored," he said. "Let us leave then."
Ku Jin tutted in disappointment. He threw a quick glance at the agent, who resembled a dying fish on a chopping board with the amount of blood that pooled around his body. Yet despite his deteriorating state, his bloodshot eyes remained fixed on Luo Xuan, brimming with hatred and unwillingness. "I... will not lose..." he choked out through his gurgling throat, the words barely audible. "Next time... I will kill you... XIU!"
Ku Jin blinked, a little taken aback, before he abruptly burst out into laughter. "Hahahaha!!" He laughed so hard that he doubled over, clutching his aching stomach. He laughed until tears squeezed out of his eyes, until he gasped for breath, until he could feel the strain of the fake skin on his face. "For fuck’s sake, this has to be the funniest joke I have heard this year!"
Luo Xuan, however, was not in the mood to joke around with him right now. His tone was filled with displeasure as he asked, "Still not going?"
"How about him?" Ku Jin playfully pointed his gun toward the twitching and dying man. "Should I finish the job?"
A cruel smirk danced on Luo Xuan’s lips and a manic glint sparked in his brown eyes. "No need. Just leave him be. If he dies, it’s his fate. But if he miraculously survives, then it’s his luck. I’m in the mood for a gamble right now."
Oops. When Luo Xuan put it like that, it meant that his mood was not just bad— it was fantastically bad. And who else could be blamed for this if not for a certain misbehaving rebel?
Ku Jin released a lamented sigh before he approached the man and crouched down beside him. By now, he had reached a state of delirium, his gaze unfocused and consciousness hazy, only relying on pure instinct to protect his own vitals. Alas, such an act in Ku Jin’s eyes was nothing more than the futile writhing of an ant on its back. He reached into the man’s clothes and pulled out his identity tag, squinting his eyes to read the name. "...Tak Jung-Hwa?"
A flicker of awareness and alert returned to Tak Jung-Hwa’s eyes, despite his rapidly waning consciousness due to the excessive blood loss. Ku Jin grinned with his teeth as he patted the man’s cheek, "Let us see if you can make it out of this and find your beloved XIU, okay?" To him, those words sounded so amusingly absurd that he couldn’t help but burst into laughter once more.
Rising to his feet, he looked around and realized that Luo Xuan had already walked a distance away. He quickly left the place and caught up with Luo Xuan, inquiring, "What should we do about XIU, Boss? Are you going to gamble on him as well?"
He waited patiently for answers, yet Luo Xuan remained silent without any intention of sharing his plans. Ku Jin could only tut in his heart.
Shortly after the two of them made their escape into the night via the speedboat, the vessel from the Interpol arrived at the scene only to encounter a harrowing tableau of death and destruction. With a heavy heart, they began their grim work of investigation and body recovery, mourning silently inside their hearts. Until a loud exclamation pierced the somber air, shattering the tense atmosphere and infusing it with a glimmer of hope.
"H–Here, over here! Captain Tak is still alive! Get the paramedics, quick!"
First aid treatment was swiftly applied on Tak Jung-Hwa’s grave injuries. After that, he was rushed to the mainland and admitted to the ICU without delay. In the end, his luck and perseverance won and he managed to pull through after two days in a comatose state. He ended up becoming the sole survivor among his team, for everyone had been eliminated by either Xuanlong’s men or the Big Boss himself. And the first sentence he said upon waking up half a month later was,
"Omega. XIU is a terrifyingly powerful omega..."
