Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 500: The Major Transaction
The sunset over the open waters was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Breathtaking hues of gold, purple, and blue painted the sky, casting a regal glow upon the merging expanse of land and sea.
Two vessels anchored themselves at a safe distance from each other, with one being a luxurious yacht and the other a large cargo ship. No discernible activity was detected between the two at first, though an underlying tension was quietly simmering in the air. It was not until the sun dipped below the horizon, surrendering to the encroaching darkness, that signs of life became evident.
From the yacht out came a small boat, bearing two men of mixed heritage. One of them had striking golden hair, which still managed to exude a faint halo even amidst the dark. He was none other than Marius Morningstar, the drug lord of Myanmar and sole owner of Golden Sand, accompanied by one of his loyal subordinates.
At the same time, the cargo ship also deployed its own smaller boat, but only one person boarded it. The two sides eventually closed the gap, until Marius could clearly discern the appearance of the other party.
An omega, his Alpha intuited.
Omegas had distinct traits that distinguished them from Betas or Alphas. More often than not, they had lean and slender frames, delicate features and exquisite allure, where a mere glance at them was enough to stir an Alpha’s innate instinct to conquer. But of course, Marius was never one to be controlled by instinct. Moreover, he could tell with every cell in his body that the omega before him was different from others, and thus must not be taken lightly.
He extended a courteous smile, ready to initiate the conversation, but he did not expect the omega to beat him to it. What’s more, he even spoke in French which was Marius’ mother tongue, proving that he had done his homework well beforehand.
"It’s a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance," the omega smiled, his light brown eyes curving akin to two pools of sweet honey. Even his voice rang out clear and melodious with the power to bewitch. "M, isn’t it? I have heard so much about you from XIU."
If there was one thing Marius knew for certain, that was XIU had never and never would speak about him to others, especially not to his Boss, with whom he was currently estranged. The implications behind Luo Xuan’s words couldn’t be clearer: I know what you two have been getting up to behind my back.
However, Marius’ smile did not falter, and his eyelids did not twitch either. This wasn’t merely a façade, but he had truly gone through so much that this little psychological game would hardly faze him anymore. Each and every member of his Morningstar Clan was a hundred times more vicious than Luo Xuan, and he had done an excellent job in keeping them in check all these years. His smile only widened as he took Luo Xuan’s hand and brushed his lips gently against the back of the omega’s gloved hand in a genteel gesture.
"Likewise," he chuckled softly, his brilliant blue eyes shimmering in tenderness. "It’s such a shame that XIU seems to have forgotten to warn me about how charming you are. My heart was not prepared for your beauty."
Two can play the game.
Had it not been for their identities, had it not been for their ulterior motives, the scene would have appeared breathtakingly picturesque. Illuminated by the gentle moonlight, an equally handsome Alpha and beautiful Omega stood on opposing boats, their gazes locked in an aesthetic tableau worthy of romance movies— no, even those movies were not as artistic.
Alas, there was nothing romantic about their first encounter at all.
A flicker of surprise flashed briefly in Luo Xuan’s eyes before he promptly burst out in laughter, pulling his hand out of Marius’ hold in a not so subtle manner. "They say that M is a true gentleman, it seems the rumors are true. Shall we get down to business?" he asked in a light-hearted tone.
"Sure," Marius agreed. He waved a hand at his subordinate, and the man stepped forward while presenting an exquisite silver metal box. He flipped the lid open, revealing a package of golden colored powder. Marius offered a genial smile, "This is a small sample of Golden Sand. Please, feel free to inspect it. If it meets your satisfaction, we can directly proceed with the transaction."
Luo Xuan’s eyes glimmered in the mixture of awe and curiosity as he gazed upon the sparkling substance. "So this is the infamous Golden Sand..." he murmured under his breath. "Is it really true that... it can control someone’s mind?"
"My presence here is all the confirmation you need," Marius responded with a knowing smile, implying that if he had harbored doubts about the drug’s effectiveness, he would never have been so confident in attending the deal in person. "Or..." he challenged with a raised brow. "Does Mr. Luo still need another proof?"
"Of course not," Luo Xuan laughed softly. "I believe in you. Let us proceed with the transaction then."
"Agreed," Marius replied, his eyes flashing with a meaningful smile.
The two of them contacted the main boat, and shortly after a dinghy was lowered from the yacht, carrying box after box of tightly sealed Golden Sand. At a glance, it was like a sea of gold. The total price at stake amounted to 1.4 billion. Marius ordered the goods to be delivered to the cargo ship. However, just as the dinghy was about to make its way across the water, Marius’ earpiece buzzed and the voice on the other side relayed,
"Boss, there’s a problem."
Marius’ brows immediately furrowed in displeasure. "What is it?"
Coincidentally, the walkie talkie in Luo Xuan’s hand also crackled to life, and an agitated voice reported in Chinese, "Boss, not good! We are under attack!"
Right as those words settled in the air, several beams of light abruptly pierced the thickness of the night, illuminating the sea from all directions as if the sky had turned bright in the matter of seconds. The tranquil waters descended into chaos as the loud roar of motorboats resonated through the air. A commanding voice boomed forth,
"This is the Interpol! Do not move, you have been surrounded!"
