Chapter 473: Should We Celebrate?

"Hmm..." Marius tapped his fingers on the steel railing, his expression thoughtful. "The thing you’re going to take care of, is it possible for you to tell me?"

He Juan let out a bitter laugh, having expected that Marius would ask this first and foremost. After all, this matter was related to the mission they had dedicated one full year to, plus it involved Ye Qiu as well. There was no way Marius could rest assured upon hearing He Juan’s absurd request. "I wish I could too, but... I need confirmation. I promise, I will definitely tell you once I settle it." He gazed at the man right in the eye, trying to convey his sincerity.

"Fine. Last question," Marius showed a helpless smile. "Will it put you in danger?"

This time, He Juan was truly taken aback, and then he couldn’t help but feel sheepish. Throughout his life, he had been accustomed to the role of big brother, always acting as the protector and taking care of others, and it was only with Marius that he could experience the feeling of being taken care of. Much to his surprise, being treated as a younger brother... was not bad.

If he could exclude the awkwardness and embarrassment it brought forth.

"No," he rubbed his nose and averted his gaze, unable to bring himself to meet Marius’ warm gaze all of a sudden. "Don’t worry, I will be safe."

"Okay then," Marius patted his shoulder. "I will give you five days."

Time was tight, and as soon as he got permission from Marius, he swiftly mobilized all his available networks to contact Luo Xuan. They used to be the closest partners, but in recent years, Luo Xuan started traveling all over the world, claiming that it was time for him to take the vacation he deserved, and cut off all means of direct contact. The only way to reach him was through letters, and the last one He Juan received had the stamp from Kyoto, Japan.

But now, waiting for a letter response from Luo Xuan was not a luxury he could afford, so he had to resort to drastic measures.

In the end, he finally received news that the man was in Busan, Korea, and when He Juan arrived there by flight, it was already the morning of the third day since he promised Marius.

As soon as he touched down at the airport, he immediately hailed a taxi to the location that had been provided to him— a private golf club.

Stepping inside, he was greeted by an elegant, sprawling building with a classic colonial-style architecture. The façade showcased tall pillars, a grand entrance and lush greenery surrounding the club’s exterior. A staff member approached him and politely inquired in Korean, "Good morning, Sir. How may I assist you?"

He Juan’s gaze drifted to the large floor-to-ceiling windows that offered picturesque views of the meticulously maintained golf course, with rolling fairways and beautifully manicured greens stretching into the distance. At this hour, quite a handful of people had come to engage in the sophisticated exercise, but He Juan was able to find Luo Xuan with a single glance. He tore his gaze off the man, offered a smile to the staff and replied in fluent Korean, "I am not a member of the club. I’m just here to visit someone."

"May I know the name of the member who invited you, Sir?"

After giving Luo Xuan’s name, He Juan was led past the reception area towards the main lounge. The staff guided him to a table closest to the window, where he could easily watch the scenery outside. "Would you like to sit here and wait first? I will let Mr. Luo know that his guest is here."

"Sure," He Juan smiled and took his seat. Throwing his gaze out of the window, he cupped his chin with his hand, and his mind began to wander.

It had been nearly three years since they last saw each other, but He Juan found that Luo Xuan had not changed much. Clad in white golfing attire and a black sun visor hat with his hair tied in a high ponytail, he exuded a refined aura of the upper echelon. He had delicate features of an Omega, and it did not take five minutes for He Juan to notice a few Betas and Alphas nearby who snuck glances at him, presumably curious and intrigued by the appearance of an Omega in this place.

In today’s society, only Omegas born into affluent families could be cherished and pampered, and Luo Xuan indeed looked every inch the part. Little did they know he was the mysterious Big Boss of an infamous mafia organization whose name was enough to strike fear and terror into the hearts of normal citizens.

At the age of twenty eight, Luo Xuan had it all— a fearsome reputation, abundance of wealth, and extraordinary prowess that could surpass even those of superior Alphas.

So why would his signature be found in that secret facility? Had someone forged it to frame him, perhaps? He Juan tapped his fingers on the table, lost in thought, when all of a sudden, a staff member placed a glass of cocktail beside his hand.

Caught off guard, He Juan tried to say, "I didn’t order this—"

"I do." The ’staff member’ took a seat opposite him and flashed him a wide grin, "Just take it as my treat?"

The reserved smile He Juan had on his face instantly vanished, and the temperature in his silver eyes plummeted to the freezing point. Though he had never seen this face before, there was no way he could have mistaken this voice. The Master Manipulator must have disguised himself into a random person again. Hadn’t he ever gotten tired of it? 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Why are you here?" He Juan asked, his expression sunken.

Ku Jin was not affected by his cold demeanor. He casually slung his arm over the back of the chair and smirked, "What? You can be here, but I can’t? Does this club belong to you?"

Patience, He Juan told himself. This was just how Ku Jin was— always trying to get a raise out of someone and actively pushing their buttons. He would lose if he were to let himself be affected. Thus, He Juan smoothed out his expression and plastered a smile on his face, though it did not reach his eyes at all. "Of course, you can. I’m just surprised that we’re here at the same time. What a pleasant coincidence." The last of his words were laced with hidden meaning. Only God, the devil and the man before him knew whether their meeting here was coincidental or not. If Ku Jin were to claim that he was second best in scheming, then no one would dare to take the first.

"Do you have business with the Boss?"

"Yeah," Ku Jin replied casually. Seeing that He Juan had no interest in the cocktail, he took it upon himself to enjoy it. "Same as you."

He Juan’s fingers involuntarily twitched. What did he mean by ’same as you’? How could his business with Luo Xuan be the same as Ku Jin? Just as his thoughts were spiraling out of control, Ku Jin added with a hint of mockery in his eyes, "What? Cat got your tongue? Duh, of course I’m here because the Boss summoned me. Don’t tell me..." he gasped and leaned forward with squinted eyes, as if whispering a secret. "Are you not here for the same reason? The annoying bug who has been pestering Boss for a meeting these past few days... is it you?"

It took He Juan every ounce of willpower not to flip the table and punch this man right in the face. He wondered how Jia Molei could endure being Ku Jin’s sexual partner for years, when he could not even bear to sit with him at the same table for ten minutes. Perhaps Jia Molei might actually be a Buddha incarnate.

The veins on He Juan’s forehead throbbed, and his smile became sharper. Fortunately, before he could snap and lose his temper, a soft and melodious laughter resounded from behind,

"I see that you’ve met up with each other." Luo Xuan walked toward them while wiping his sweat with a towel. Due to the exercise, he had a thin flush on his cheekbones, and strands of damp hair stuck to his face, adding on to his delicate charm. His light brown eyes glimmered in amusement as he looked at his right and left-hand men who never got along with each other.

"It’s so rare for the three of us to hang out. Should we open a bottle of wine and celebrate?"
