Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 472: Give Me Five Days
"Are you planning to leave soon?"
"Yeah," Jia Molei shrugged. "I have found a place to live in, and my belongings will soon be sent there. All I have to do is leave, I guess." Seeing He Juan’s nonchalant posture as he played with the phone, he furrowed his brow and his occupational disease kicked in. "Careful not to put pressure on your arm. Do you want your wound to reopen? Fuck, you Alphas are so careless. Do you think your body is made of steel?"
"Okay, okay, I’ve gotten injured countless times, do I still need you to nag on me?" He Juan responded helplessly. The thought of Jia Molei leaving brought a sliver of loss to his heart. When they parted this time, who knew when they would meet again? It could be next month, next year, or even next decade. Despite Jia Molei’s brash personality, He Juan had genuinely taken him as a brother, and he couldn’t help but feel a little sad about not being able to see him as often. He did not show it on his face, though. Instead, he cracked a playful joke, "Without you here, who will pull the bullets out of my body?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Jia Molei was so repulsed with those words that he grabbed the nearest pillow and smacked He Juan with it. "Fuck you, stop being so cheesy! Do you think I have no idea that you only want a place where you can crash on anytime you need?!"
He Juan laughed in a low voice as he caught the pillow and tossed it aside. He tried to say in the most casual tone, "You still owe me dinner, Doctor Jia. Don’t forget that."
Jia Molei rolled his eyes, "I know. I have not developed Alzheimer yet, if it can reassure you."
"Okay, so..." He Juan regarded him with a tinge of amusement. "Why are you looking for me in the middle of the night? Don’t tell me that you want to have a heart-to-heart talk, I am not buying."
If a glare could kill, He Juan would have been lying in the puddle of his own blood from how intense Jia Molei was glowering at him. But he merely raised a brow, waiting. Two seconds later, Jia Molei lost his momentum, retracted his gaze and sighed. "I just want to say..."
"I don’t know what kind of business you’re dealing with M, but it doesn’t look simple. Be more careful with your own life."
He Juan was taken aback, not expecting the doctor to say something like this. Nonetheless, he could see that Jia Molei was truly worried about him, and the notion brought a smile to his face. "Don’t worry, I still want to live past a hundred, remember?" He chuckled. "I thought you’re here to talk about the Manipulator. Turns out you’re going to nag on me until the end, huh?"
Jia Molei rolled his eyes again, this time complete with an utterly repulsed look on his face. "Why the fuck should I talk about that son of a bitch with you? He can go die for all I care! Okay, that’s all I want to talk about. I’m going!" Huffing and puffing, he marched toward the door, only to stop when he was already halfway out. "You..." he tilted his head and blurted out the words in one breath as if his skin was going to peel off if he spent one more second in the room. "You should be careful of him too. That guy’s a psycho. You will never know what’s in his mind."
Before He Juan could even think of a response, Jia Molei left and closed the door behind him. Left in the midst of silence, He Juan snorted lightly, a smile hanging on the corner of his lips, "Foolish, do I still need you to tell me that?"

The next day, as soon as the dawn broke, He Juan freshened up and made his way to the office where he knew Marius and Ye Qiu would be. Sure enough, he arrived just in time to see Marius draping a jacket over Ye Qiu, who had dozed off with her head cushioned on her arm on the table.
Noticing He Juan’s presence on the door, Marius placed one finger to his lips in a silent gesture, then he carefully walked out of the office and closed the door soundlessly behind him.
On a cold autumn morning, the two of them stood on the balcony, savoring the cold wind that ruffled their hair and froze their cheeks. He Juan squinted his eyes at the distant sky, his gaze trailing after the thick cloud that somehow shaped like a bunny, when he heard Marius ask,
"Why are you up so early? You’re injured and drugged. You should get more rest."
He Juan did not mention how he had not gotten a wink of sleep because his blood had gotten restless again thanks to that one – innocent – phone call he had with Mu Yuze. He merely chuckled, "You and Little Miss Ye are working so hard, how can I be so shameless to slack off on my own?"
Talking about Ye Qiu, Marius’ features would soften unconsciously. His golden lashes lowered, casting shadows over his gentle blue eyes that resembled the glistening ripples of sunlight piercing the ocean’s surface. "She has been so excited since we managed to wrap things up. She wouldn’t rest no matter how many times I told her to, and insisted on sorting out everything to the end. I can’t blame her, though. After this, she will truly be free."
Perhaps it was due to his noble lineage and special upbringing, Marius always carried with him a gentlemanly air that never failed to make countless women swoon. They would gush about how Marius’ smile was too charming, his eyes too dazzling, and his gaze made them feel as if they were the only one he could ever see. When in fact, they just had no idea what he looked like when he fell in love.
If those women could see him now, He Juan thought in amusement. They would definitely be disillusioned.
Well, not that he was any better either. Reflecting on his scummy demeanor toward Mu Yuze all this while, He Juan could only show a wry smile. He slipped his hand into his pocket and exhaled lightly, "I have a favor to ask."
Marius raised an intrigued brow and gave him a gesture to go ahead.
He Juan subtly clenched his fist, crumpling that piece of paper with Luo Xuan’s personal signature on it, before he braced himself to ask, "Can you wait a few more days... before you send everything to the Interpol?" As expected, Marius looked taken aback, a flicker of surprise flashing through his eyes. He must not have expected He Juan to make this kind of request.
"Please..." He Juan added, his voice low. He very seldom used this word, and that’s how Marius knew that he was absolutely serious. "Just a week— no, give me five days. After that, I will give you and Little Miss Ye an account."
He had been feeling extremely uneasy since he discovered this piece of burned paper in that secret facility. If he did not get into the bottom of things, he knew that he would not be able to find peace. Moreover, he and Luo Xuan... they had a special relationship, the kind where they could trust each other with their lives. Luo Xuan could have lied to anyone else, but he definitely would not lie to He Juan.
...Or so He Juan wanted to believe.
