Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 456: Lousy Stalker
Hearing the sharp screech of tires from the other end, Mu Yuze’s voice gained an anxious tinge, "What’s wrong? Why are you driving so fast?"
"Such a worrywart," He Juan teased, though the smile did not reach his eyes at all. He glanced at the rearview mirror again and saw the car speeding up to chase after him. His lips couldn’t help but twitch. "I’m sorry, Xiao Ze. Something came up," he said with genuine regret. "It seems like you will have to wait a little while longer for the cake. But don’t worry, Gege will not take long."
"What are—"
He Juan murmured a silent apology as he hung up on the call. He promised himself that he would make it up to Mu Yuze as soon as he dealt with this damned stalker. With one of his hands steady on the wheel, he dialed another number on his phone.
"Hello, Boss? Do you need something?"
He Juan immediately gave a command to his subordinate, "Help me check on a white Volkswagen, it’s heading to the flyover near the park right now." He provided the license plate number and instructed the man to get back to him as soon as possible. "Also, send a few men to back me up."
After ending the call, He Juan moved to grip the steering wheel with both hands, his sharp gaze flashing with a condescending look.
Exactly which amateur was following him now?
They didn’t even bother hiding their intentions and allowed themselves to enter his line of sight. Even after being clearly busted, they still did not give up and instead, their driving became more reckless and desperate as though throwing all caution to the wind. He Juan had never seen such a lousy stalker before. He couldn’t help but feel a little offended if they really thought that they could catch him this way.
But here was an interesting question: since when had they been following him?
Just now? Or had it started when he was still in that house with Marius and Ye Qiu? Or... since he left the house he shared with Mu Yuze? He Juan’s eyes turned cold when that possibility crossed his mind, but he soon dismissed it. It was impossible for someone to tail him for so long without him noticing. But just in case, he sent a message to Marius and asked him to check the CCTVs around the vicinity.
He drove straight towards the flyover, maintaining a stable speed until he caught sight of a few familiar cars in his peripheral vision. A sinister and wicked smile hooked on the corner of his lips.
His people had arrived.
Rolling down the window, He Juan extended a hand and made a pinching gesture. In an instant, two cars approached and flanked the white Volkswagen on both sides. Finally realizing that something was amiss, the Volkswagen attempted to swerve to the side, but the two cars stuck closely to it, preventing it from escaping. The flyover was a one-way street, and it could not even make a U-turn if it wanted to.
He Juan made another call. "Don’t kill them. Throw them to the basement and teach them a little lesson. I will personally question them later."
"Roger, Boss," came the response from the other side.
After that, He Juan stepped fully on the accelerator and ditched the cars behind, leaving only a cloud of exhaust fumes and smoke. This time, he was extra vigilant as he surveyed his surroundings, even going as far as to take a few detours along the way to ensure that he was not being followed any longer. Only then did he drive home.
As he reached a familiar neighborhood, a figure pacing back and forth in front of the gate caught his eye, only stopping once he spotted the car. Who could it be if not Mu Yuze?
He Juan was helpless, but at the same time, his heart also felt warm and sweet all over as if someone had smeared honey on the surface. He grabbed the box of cakes, which had fortunately remained intact, and stepped out of the car, smiling helplessly, "Why are you out here?"
Mu Yuze rushed to him, his eyes rimmed red like a little rabbit. "Gege..." he swept his gaze over He Juan from head to toe, and only when he made sure that He Juan was in one piece did the tension on his body ease. He raised his head to meet He Juan’s eyes, the fear and anxiety palpable within. "You... just now..."
He Juan raised a hand to ruffle Mu Yuze’s hair as usual, but when his gaze landed on the patch on the back of the boy’s neck, his hand abruptly changed direction to fix his own tie.
With a chuckle, he showed the delicate box to Mu Yuze, his tone slightly teasing, "What’s wrong? Haven’t I come back now? Here, the cakes you wanted. Gege didn’t take too long, did he?"
Mu Yuze parted his lips to say something. But then, perhaps realizing that he would not be able to get any answers from He Juan, he closed them again and lowered his head to receive the box from He Juan’s hand. His entire person looked dejected, even a bit aggrieved. He Juan had to bite down on the inside of his cheeks so that he would not spill everything right there and then. Oh God, this was really getting so dangerous! Mu Yuze had not even said anything yet, and He Juan was already compelled to give him everything he wanted, reason and logic notwithstanding!
Clenching his fists tight, he put on a casual smile and ushered the boy into the house gently, "Let’s go inside first."
The two of them entered the house one after another, and He Juan was taken aback to see the set of warm meals on the table. For some reason, a sense of déjà vu washed over him as he looked at the spread. "Didn’t you say that you have eaten?" He Juan asked.
Mu Yuze paused briefly on his way to the kitchen before he murmured quietly, "... It’s for you."
Surprise flickered in He Juan’s eyes. No way... had Mu Yuze really seen through his lies? How did he do it, when nobody else ever did? He Juan couldn’t help but chuckle helplessly as he took his seat, his gaze taking in the piping hot dishes before him. No doubt Mu Yuze had prepared them after the phone call.
Alas, he had just picked up his chopsticks when his phone rang. The caller was none other than the subordinate he had ordered to take care of the stalker earlier. He Juan’s expression abruptly sank. He had a bad premonition about this, and sure enough, it was proven true when he answered the call and heard the man say,
"Boss, t-the driver died!"
