Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 436: Who Did This?!
To be completely honest, He Juan and Marius were no longer strangers to this kind of service. After all, they had been involved in the underworld for years. They had witnessed the darkest and filthiest corners of humanity and had almost become immune to it.
Bars like these, where staff were required to attend to their customers and put up with daily sexual harassment, had become the norm. It was all because of Ye Qiu’s presence that Marius became uneasy when talking about it. He Juan knew that if it were just the two of them, the blonde man would have no reservations. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
He couldn’t help the amused smile on the corner of his lips witnessing the usually smooth Marius act this awkward and helpless.
"Oh," Ye Qiu blinked, unfazed. A hint of confusion appeared in her eyes, "Is that considered unique?"
"Well, no..." Marius scratched his neck sheepishly. "I was just afraid to shock you."
Ye Qiu was taken aback as she did not expect such an answer from the man, but then she snorted. "Don’t worry, you two can discuss it however you want. Either way, it’s not like I can follow you inside."
What Ye Qiu said was right. Most legal bars would not allow permits to minors, and even if Ye Qiu managed to obtain a fake ID and fool her way in, Marius and He Juan would be too worried to let her go alone. It was a dubious place where crouching tigers and hidden dragons mixed in; what if something happened to her midway?
"Okay," He Juan clapped his hand and decided. "M and I will enter the bar, and Little Miss Ye will provide support and back-up for us from outside. Also, M, your hair and eyes attract too much attention..."
Marius immediately understood his concerns. They had to go undercover, and it was not good to have such an eye-catching appearance as it would leave a stronger impression in people’s minds. He nodded, "Okay, I will wear wigs and contact lenses then."
The plan was quickly formulated. They would go to the bar on the day Jay was working, pretend to order the special service, and get close to Jay without arousing suspicion.
It would be three days from now.

As He Juan left the villa, he checked his phone and raised his brow when he noticed a missed call from Jia Molei around half an hour ago. He had forgotten that he put the phone in silent mode. What could the doctor need him for?
He Juan dialed the number while getting into the car. However, after a long monotone ringtone, all he received was the female mechanical voice saying, "The number you’re calling is..."
Huh? Was he busy doing his rounds?
He Juan glanced at the time and saw that there were still a few hours until dinnertime. Perhaps he should go to the clinic to kill some time before returning home to have dinner with Mu Yuze. Making up his mind, he sent a message to Jia Molei to let him know about his visit. Then he tossed the phone onto the dashboard, started the car and drove away from the villa.
Arriving at the clinic, he pressed the honk a few times, but the front gate remained closed. He Juan furrowed his brows and checked his phone, only to find that the message he sent had not been read yet.
’Something was off,’ he thought.
Normally, Jia Molei’s security system would notify him of any visitors, and he only needed to press the button on his tablet to open the gate remotely. The fact that the gate was unresponsive indicated that Jia Molei had not seen him on the security footage, and he had not touched his phone either.
Did something happen? Was there an attack in the clinic?
Alarm bells went off in He Juan’s mind. He reached for a gun from the hidden compartment inside his dashboard and slipped it into his suit pocket, then he got out of the car.
Climbing the wall was a piece of cake as long as no one saw his attempt and screamed murder. He Juan’s luck turned out good today as the street was empty right now. With a powerful swing of his body, he vaulted over the wall and landed in the mansion’s side garden. He remained vigilant of his surroundings as he made his way to the building.
He noticed nothing amiss thus far as he reached the front gate. He tried to push it open, but it was locked. Left with no other choice, he could only take the roundabout way and enter through the back door, which connected to the storage room where Jia Molei kept fresh bed sheets, laundry, and medical supplies.
He Juan opened the door to the storage room by a crack and peeked outside. The lobby appeared quite desolate with only two people in the waiting area, playing with their phones. He Juan decided to play it cool and pretended he had just come out of the bathroom. He approached the two men and asked amicably, "Is Doctor Jia in today?"
"Doctor Jia?" One of them lifted his head and gestured to the second floor with his chin. "I saw him walking past a while ago. Right?" he nudged the man beside him, who only grunted in acknowlegdment as he was engrossed in his game.
He Juan offered them a reserved smile, "Thank you." He turned and headed towards the second floor, a little perplexed. Jia Molei was indeed here. So the reason why he did not answer the phone, was it because he was doing surgery? But something felt off. Even if he was occupied, he would usually acknowledge visitors and grant them entry after confirming their identity...
Keeping the doubt in mind, He Juan strode down the hallway toward the doctor’s office, all the while keeping his guard up. Along the way, he bumped into one or two people who wore surgical gowns, dragging along their IV drips as they took a brief walk around the building. He quickly bypassed them and continued toward his destination.
As he approached the office, his ears picked up faint sounds of movement inside and his heart, which had been hanging by a thread, could finally be put down. It seemed like the doctor was just too preoccupied with something that he failed to notice He Juan’s arrival. Had he been burying his head in his experiments, perhaps?
"Doctor Jia!" He Juan called out from outside and pushed open the door. "Why are you—" He immediately recoiled backward as the strong musky odor assaulted his senses, and an involuntary curse slipped out of his mouth. "Fuck, did you not answer my call because you’re fooling around in your office?! Wear your clothes properly and turn on the ventilator. I’m giving you ten minutes!"
To think that he had been concerned over Jia Molei’s safety, it turned out he was just having a quickie— no, judging from how powerful the stench in the air was, it seemed like they had been going at it for a while! How could Jia Molei do this in his sacred workplace?! Incensed, He Juan moved to slam the door shut, but then he heard a muffled grunt of pain from inside,
"Fuck, just come in..."
He Juan had just wanted to yell out, ’are you insane?!’ when he abruptly realized that Jia Molei’s tone did not seem right.
Frowning, he pushed open the door wider to reveal the messy state of the office. It was as if a tornado had just swept through, leaving a trail of chaos on its wake. The computer was overturned, documents scattered all over the floor and table, and the aforementioned doctor was sitting on the floor, leaning against the couch.
He Juan’s eyes widened when he noticed that both of Jia Molei’s arms were bent at an unnatural angle. No longer caring about the smell, he rushed in and crouched down in front of Jia Molei, and a gasp escaped his lips as he took in the wretched condition the doctor was in.
Bruises marred his face, and fresh fingermarks adorned his neck like a collar. He had only draped the white coat over himself, and thus He Juan could see the black and purple hickeys scattered across his collarbones and chest, as if he had been ravaged by a wild animal.
"What the hell happened?!" He Juan’s scalp exploded in fury and he growled out, "Who did this to you?!"
Jia Molei cracked his eyes open, his vision blurred and unfocused. "What... took you so long..." he mumbled weakly before tilting to the side and losing consciousness.
A faint scent of blood emanated from the doctor, prompting He Juan to fling the white coat aside. His pupils dilated in shock when he beheld the horrifying extent of Jia Molei’s wounds. Without a second thought, he wrapped the white coat carefully around the doctor’s naked body, lifted him into his arms, and carried him outside.
Everything else could wait; right now, he had to rush Jia Molei to the hospital before his wounds could get infected!
