Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 379: Vulnerable
More... hurt them more. Get your revenge. More!
It was the sole voice reverberating in his mind as he delivered slash after slash on the man’s body. It seemed like he had exerted too much strength when he gouged out the eyeball and ended up damaging some vital nerves because the man had become half-paralyzed, unable to do anything but to scream and plead for mercy again and again.
Unfortunately, He Juan was not in the mood of bestowing mercy on anyone right now.
Just based on the answer the man had given earlier, He Juan could easily guess that he had done it himself to come to such a conclusion, not only once but many times over. It also meant that the man’s victims were... minors, innocent children who knew nothing about the hidden malice of the world. When He Juan thought of what Mu Yuze might have gone through had he arrived five or ten minutes later, he could see nothing but red.
Unforgivable... how dare he... to He Juan’s person!
Only death of a thousand cuts was enough to appease the wrath in his heart!
The man’s cries grew softer and weaker, but even then the movement of He Juan’s hands did not stop. Warm liquid splattered over his hands and body. The scent of blood in the air was ever thickening, so did his pheromones that resembled an alluring rose growing out through a land of corpses, a brutal beauty covered in thorns.
"...it!"
"...stop it!"
"Snap out of it, for fuck’s sake!!" A crisp slap landed on his face at the same time as someone dragged him up from behind, pulling him away from the mangled body covered in cuts on the floor.
With his vision clouded in a red haze, He Juan caught sight of a person in white coat standing in his way and he bared his teeth fiercely, struggling to break free of the restraints around him.
It was not enough... he had to teach them a harder and crueler lesson. He had to make it so that they would not be able to commit crimes anymore!
"This fucker has not come to yet!" Jia Molei blew hot air to his fist and punched He Juan right on the face while Chen Youzhi was restraining his arms from behind because when else would he get the chance to pummel the infamous XIU and get away from it scot-free if not now?! He barked out an order to Chen Youzhi, "You, make sure to hold him tight!"
Chen Youzhi had a pained look on his face as he tried to remind the doctor the reason why he was brought here, "Doctor Jia, shouldn’t you check on Mu Yuze’s condition first?"
That name managed to snap He Juan out of his manic trance more than Jia Molei’s strongest punch could ever do. The haze on his bloodshot eyes faded away and the knife fell from his hand with a clang. He began to process everything again – the sway on the ground beneath his feet, the waves slapping against the ship, the stickiness of blood on his body, the thunderous heartbeat behind his ribcage and... a familiar stare boring a hole in his head.
He Juan slowly, very very slowly turned to catch Mu Yuze’s eyes, who was sitting on the corner with his back to the wall. He stilled when he took in the boy’s pale face, trembling shoulders, and the tears pooling in his stricken eyes.
Innocent child who knew nothing of the hidden malice in the world – that was Mu Yuze. And He Juan intended to keep it this way until the end, to shield and protect and cherish him so that he could bloom into the most beautiful flower.
Yet ironically... it was also him who had exposed this malicious side to Mu Yuze for the first time.
He Juan’s pupils shook and his breath got stuck in his throat. Along the way here, he had been beating himself up nonstop. If only... if only he had taken Mu Yuze along with him, then the boy wouldn’t have been kidnapped and harmed. But now that He Juan saw him like this, he realized how wrong he was.
Mu Yuze shouldn’t have met him – this cold-blooded and cruel monster.
He Juan shouldn’t have taken him in from the start, shouldn’t have tried to get close to him, shouldn’t have gotten himself attached. If that was the case, then Mu Yuze would remain an innocent and pure boy. He would not be implicated in He Juan’s problem. He would not be harmed by He Juan’s enemies and also, he would not fear He Juan... like he did right now.
Bitterness spread all over his chest as he turned his gaze away. "Sorry..." he murmured to no one in particular, shook Chen Youzhi’s hold off him and walked out of the room without looking back.
***
By the time Mu Yuze got over the horror of seeing someone being tortured to near death, He Juan had disappeared from the room, leaving behind nothing but the traces of bloodthirsty pheromones in the air.
Jia Molei slowly approached him and stopped a few steps away, careful not to breach the boy’s personal space right now. He crouched down and examined Mu Yuze’s overall state, cursing, "Damn, they fucking deserved to be tortured by XIU again and again!"
Chen Youzhi cleared his throat and warned him in a low voice, "Doctor Jia."
Someone shouted from outside, informing that they had caught someone who was trying to escape by the lifeboat and Chen Youzhi stepped out to inspect it, leaving Jia Molei and Mu Yuze alone, together with Lao Liu and Injured Man who was hanging on their last breath.
"Mu Yuze," Jia Molei tried to make himself sound as gentle as possible so as to not startle the boy who had most likely been traumatized. "Mu Yuze, do you recognize who I am?"
Mu Yuze swallowed the fishy taste of blood down his throat and nodded. "Doctor Jia," he said, his voice weak and hoarse.
"Good. Can I get closer and touch you?"
Upon receiving Mu Yuze’s nod, Jia Molei scooted forward and checked the injuries on his head first, grimacing. He put up two fingers in front of Mu Yuze’s face, "Are you dizzy? Is your vision blurry? Can you tell me how many fingers this is?"
The fact that he had been rescued, that he was now safe and sound slowly seeped into his mind and he let out a shaky exhale, "Two." Not giving the doctor any chance to ask him more questions, he asked in a hurried tone, "Boss... where is he going? Can I go to see him?"
After the shock wore off, Mu Yuze could finally recall the last look He Juan gave him before he left. He looked strangely... vulnerable, somehow. Almost as if he was afraid. But what was he afraid of? He was able to defeat these men easily without breaking a sweat while Mu Yuze almost died in their hands, so how could he be afraid of Mu Yuze?
He still could not wrap his head around it, but one thing for certain, his instinct told him to chase after the Alpha otherwise... he might disappear for good this time.
Shaken by his own thoughts, Mu Yuze turned to the doctor and pleaded, "...please."
"You want to go to XIU?" Jia Molei had a complicated look on his face. "It’s not like I am forbidding you to, but... XIU is very unstable right now. It will do you more harm than good to approach him right now."
