Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 172: VIP Ward
Doctor Tang had not gotten a wink of sleep after monitoring He Juan’s condition all night long together with Jia Molei. Now that He Juan had finally become stable thanks to the presence of his true mate, he returned to his office and intended to get a little shuteye.
He was no longer young and his body could not endure such an intense all-nighter like he did back in the days. Right now he was so sleepy that he could feel his eyelids gluing together. Alas, just as he was laying down on the couch, his pager suddenly buzzed.
The cultured and dignified Doctor Tang had a sudden urge to curse. "Fu–Fudge!"
He let out a frustrated groan. The nurses in the Pheromones Department knew better than to disturb his rest. If his pager buzzed at a time like this, then it only meant one thing: an emergency situation. He only had one patient in the ICU. Thinking that something bad had happened to He Juan, he hastily got up, wore his white coat and jogged to the patient ward again.
"Doctor Tang!" The Head Nurse exclaimed urgently when she caught sight of him. Then, she came close and whispered to his ears, "It’s a special patient... again. 16 years old male teenager, just manifesting. He was sent from the police station and... they found traces of AX–03 in his blood. They told us to take good care of him because he is a very important witness to a murder case."
Doctor Tang’s jaws dropped in shock. A teenager? From the police station? With AX–03?? Again??? He exchanged an apprehensive look with the Head Nurse. What were the odds that they would receive two drugged patients in a row? Has AX–03 become a common drug nowadays?!
Doctor Tang was speechless for a few seconds before he quickly regained his senses. After all, he was a doctor, and a doctor did not need to care about what kind of background their patients had as long as they could save lives. "Has he arrived yet?" He asked.
"In a few minutes."
"Okay," Doctor Tang nodded. "Send him to the isolation room and pass me his medical records. Continue to watch over his condition. If there’s no major problem, we will put him on IV drips first."
"Yes, Doc!"
Shortly after, a few medical personnel from the Pheromones Department rushed downstairs with an isolation capsule. It was regularly used to transport Alphas or Omegas who could not control their pheromones outlet and it worked very well to prevent the wayward pheromones from leaking out and affecting the entire hospital.
Shortly after, the ear-deafening police siren approached from afar and halted right in front of the entrance with a sharp screech, its glaring light flashing wildly and attracting countless eyes from all directions.
The hospital was immediately cloaked in a restless atmosphere, especially when people caught sight of two fierce-looking men with stern aura that accompanied the nurses toward the Pheromones Department in a rush. It was rare for the police to come to the hospital accompanying a sick patient and people could not help but break into discussion, trying to speculate what the hell was going on.
This eye-catching entourage successfully drew everyone’s attention. As such, nobody noticed it when the little officer, who was driving the car there, separated himself from the crowd and slipped into the public bathroom.
He carefully closed the door behind him and swept his gaze over the desolate bathroom. The next thing he did was to push open the cubicle door with his index finger, one by one, to check that nobody was inside.
When he got to the second stall from the left, he casually entered and locked the door behind him. Humming a random tune, he took a pair of gloves from his pocket, slipped it on his hands with a smooth and elegant gesture, then peeled open the lid of the toilet tank.
There was a waterproof bag on the bottom of the tank. He took it out, shook the water on it with a mildly disgusted look, then started to change his clothes. In a blink of an eye, the little police officer transformed into an ordinary little guy with a common black shirt, jeans and a fashionable dark blue hat. He shoved the police uniform into the waterproof bag, sealed it tight and placed it into the bottom of the tank again.
After putting the lid back on, he went out of the stall and walked to the sink to wash his hands. In the mirror, an innocent-looking young guy in mid-twenties was staring back at him. He pulled the corner of his lips and gave himself a grin. When he thought that it was not suitable enough, he adjusted the angle of his face on the mirror and grinned once again.
He would have looked more charming had it not for his eyes. They were dark, unfathomable and if one looked closer, they would discover how deep and bottomless they were. The longer you look, the more you will feel like you’re falling into the abyss...
"Hmm..." a deep, sexy voice echoed from his throat, a stark contrast to how youthful he looked right now. "Perfect."
Tugging the brim of his head low, he shook his wet hands and exited the bathroom. He skillfully avoided the surveillance cameras and merged with the crowd again, becoming one of the many inconspicuous people who were lining up to get into the elevator.
From the time when he got into the bathroom, changed his clothes and got into the elevator to the VIP ward, only less than ten minutes had passed. As he got to the door of a certain room, he subconsciously straightened his back and shelved his mischievous aura away, showing a polite and deferential look. He rapped his knuckles on the door thrice.
"Come in," a soft voice answered him from within.
Gently, he slid the door open and closed it again, careful not to make too many loud noises.
There was a lone figure inside the VIP ward. He was sitting on a wheelchair in front of the floor to ceiling window that overlooked the beautiful view of the hospital’s garden. He had luscious long brown hair draped over his back and extremely fair skin. He was clad in a blue hospital gown that accentuated his thin figure. From afar, he looked just like a beautiful butterfly. Sadly, this butterfly already had half of his wings torn off.
Without turning around, he asked, "Today’s weather is very good, isn’t it?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Unsure, the youth scratched his cheek and guessed tentatively, "Good for a massacre?"
"No..." a soft chuckle fell off his lips. He finally controlled his wheelchair to turn around and faced the youth, revealing very delicate and beautiful features, especially his light-brown eyes, they glittered like a pool of molten honey cast under the warm sunlight, filled with mirth and amusement. It was a pity that he exuded a very sickly aura, even his lips were faintly tinged with blue. "Why do you keep thinking of such messy things, Ku Jin?" He asked, amused.
"Sorry, Boss." Ku Jin cleared his throat, sheepish. "I’m just too... excited?"
The man in a wheelchair replied with another chuckle. He turned to face the window again, his gaze wandering far away as if recalling some distant memory. "Just a little longer... and the timing will be perfect." He turned sideways and told Ku Jin in a jest, "Remember, there will be no massacre this time. We’re just welcoming an old friend, okay?"
Ku Jin tutted sullenly, "What old friend? Can a guy who has betrayed you still be considered a friend? You even sent him flowers..."
