Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 164: Help Him...
The indistinct voices around him gradually became louder and louder, and He Juan could tell that a horde of people was closing in on him.
However right now, he was not in any capacity to care. His whole body ached like a truck had just slammed into him and his head felt swollen. It throbbed with a pain so intense that all He Juan wanted to do was to lay there, motionless.
Had it not for the terrifying nightmare, he would have wanted to fall back asleep once again. Yet the event earlier had terrified him so much to the point where he did not dare to close his eyes anymore. As such, he could only force his eyes to open. He blinked, once, twice, and the sight in front of him slowly came into focus.
Instead of the unfamiliar white ceiling above him, his whole attention was instantly drawn to the soft yet solid weight on top of his body. For He Juan who was still tethering on the edge of the abyss, this firm presence became an anchor that firmly bound him to reality. It took a few seconds for his muddled mind to register that it was a warm, living person.
The fluffy hair that brushed against his skin, the light exhales that tickled the side of his neck and lastly, this extremely exquisite scent of lavender and peppermint that wafted in the air...
An inexplicable sense of intimacy and tenderness surged in his chest as soon as he smelled this scent. His instinct clamored for him to protect, to cherish and to treasure.
My mate, his Alpha whispered. This is my mate...
As soon as this thought flashed through his mind, the fog in He Juan’s silver eyes immediately cleared up and he snapped his gaze down, only to see an unconscious figure. The omega was currently snuggling against him and the whole scene would have looked much sweeter... if not for his ghastly pale face.
As He Juan slowly took in the omega’s full appearance, it was as if a bucket of icy water had been doused over his head, filling him with looming dread and panic. His mind exploded with a bang. In that instant, he felt like he had been thrown back into that terrifying nightmare.
W–What was going on?!
Had he not woken up yet? Why... Why was this person here? And the bruised finger marks around his neck—
’This must be a dream’, he thought blankly. He had not escaped from that ghoulish nightmare yet...
Chills rushed from the soles of his feet to the tip of his hair. And even though the omega’s body was radiating warmth on top of him, He Juan only felt his blood running cold, so cold that he started to shiver. The entire world seemed to collapse right in front of his eyes and he was torn amid the boundary of dream and reality, unable to differentiate which one he was standing on right now.
Thus, when he sensed a flurry of people approaching him, He Juan’s most basic instinct immediately kicked in. He moved to hold the omega tight to him, used his own body to shield him and let out a threatening growl from his throat.
Don’t... Don’t get close! Don’t get any closer to us!
Su Xieren, who had taken the lead in entering followed by Jia Molei and the other doctors, froze when they saw this scene and the initial joy faded away from their face.
Stunned, they looked at He Juan who had a manic yet vigilant look on his face. His entire person looked like he was on the verge of mental breakdown. Alas, despite the tremble all over his body, he still protected the omega tightly in his arms and they could see nothing but a tuft of black hair and small jaded ear.
Su Xieren abruptly halted in his tracks and lifted both hands to show that he did not mean harm. "Da-ge... He Juan... it’s me, Su Xieren."
Behind him, Jia Molei gave a signal and the other doctors left one after another, leaving only Su Xieren and Jia Molei behind.
The number of intruders decreased significantly and He Juan’s tense shoulders loosened ever so slightly. Even then, he still stared at them with a wary look on his face.
Su Xieren frowned and told Jia Molei behind him, "He doesn’t seem to recognize us."
"No shit," Jia Molei responded with a frown as he swept his gaze over He Juan and Mu Yuze. He did not dare to get any closer for fear that the scent of blood on his body would provoke He Juan further. "It’s already good that that brat managed to wake him up. Go, talk to him and get them to separate. We have to examine them as soon as possible."
Su Xieren showed a helpless look at being thrown with an almost impossible mission again. Resigning to his fate, he could only keep himself in place and tried to talk to He Juan again, "He Juan... you can understand me, right? Don’t worry, we won’t hurt you. The person in your arm..." He keenly detected the flicker of panic in He Juan’s eyes once he mentioned Mu Yuze and Su Xieren deliberately emphasized again, "The person in your arms... he is your true mate. He is extremely unwell right now. You can see that, can’t you? We have to treat him as soon as possible otherwise..." he did not finish his sentence and let He Juan fill in the blanks instead.
As expected, He Juan’s complexion became even worse when he heard that.
Su Xieren calmed down. He could be considered a veteran in this field. He had no qualms about talking to He Juan as if he was coaxing a small injured animal – even though the one in front of him was clearly a deadly beast. After all, it was also in this manner he had treated He Juan when he had just woken up from the coma seven years ago.
At that time, He Juan was exactly the same as he is now. He could not recognize anyone, not even himself, and he would not let them get close to him either. It certainly became a problem when it came to performing various tests and examinations. In the end, Su Xieren – who looked like he had the mildest temper of all with the aura akin to a merciful Buddha – was chosen to encroach the beast’s territory and approach him.
But one thing was different now; it was the person in He Juan’s arms. With Mu Yuze here, Su Xieren was confident that He Juan could come to his senses in the shortest time possible.
As expected, once He Juan chewed on Su Xieren’s words, he quickly figured out the gravity of the current situation. Even though his head was pounding like hell and his memory was all jumbled up, he could still tell that what Su Xieren was saying was the truth. Moreover, he could sense no malicious intention from the two of them.
Thus, after a few seconds of deliberation, He Juan slowly loosened his arms to reveal Mu Yuze to them. His manner was akin to an anxious child who timidly showed his most beloved treasure to others. His voice was trembling so badly when he pleaded in a whisper, "Help... Help him..."
When the two Betas saw Mu Yuze’s frighteningly pale face, his tightly shut eyes, the blood on the corner of his lips and the sickening bruise on the fair skin of his neck, their expressions sank simultaneously.
If not for He Juan who did not cause a fuss, they almost thought that Mu Yuze had died...
