Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 142: Nothing To Explain
He Juan stood alone inside the toilet cubicle, dumbfounded, as he tried to process what was going on for the past few minutes. He could not believe that Mu Yuze had left him hanging like this. So in the end, what kind of astoundingly horrible alpha could trigger such a reaction from Mu Yuze? And did he really think that He Juan could not win?!
The corner of He Juan’s lips tilted into a smile that did not reach his eyes. Good, Xiao Ze... keep acting like this. Gege will find out the answer sooner or later!
The more Mu Yuze avoided him, the more it aroused an Alpha’s instinct to chase and conquer. He Juan was literally going crazy trying to keep himself still instead of rushing out to catch up with Mu Yuze. He always thought that he had a relatively mild temper which made him not easily provoked. But right now... he was akin to a sizzling fuse on the verge of exploding. If he had fur on his body, it would have bristled all over from how agitated he was!
Fortunately, he did not need to wait long. Less than ten minutes later, a voice note came in from Mu Yuze, telling him to go straight to the parking lot right now.
"Ha..." He Juan raked his fingers through his hair again, almost messing up his braid. He told himself in a low hiss, "Patient He Juan, you won’t lose your head due to jealousy. You won’t!"
After giving himself a prep talk, He Juan wasted not even a single second as he strode out of the police station, finding Mu Yuze leaning against his car with his head lowered. But much to He Juan’s surprise, he was not alone.
For a split second, He Juan forgot about his depression because he was too surprised by this strange combination. "...Molei?" He called out tentatively, and whatever Jia Molei and Mu Yuze were talking about stopped when they noticed his presence. He was curious as to what kind of topic this mismatched pair could talk about, but more than that, he was more taken aback by Jia Molei’s sudden appearance in the police station. He Juan scanned Jia Molei with his gaze and found that the Beta had only draped an outer coat over his pajamas. It was apparent that he had rushed out in a haste. "...Why are you here? Did you come after that call?"
"No shit! You still dare to ask why I am here?!" Jia Molei seethed in a low voice. Perhaps because he had been ready to go to sleep, his hair was a bit messy with a few strands falling over his forehead, adding on a younger charm to his thug-like aura. "Don’t you know I have a psychological trauma every time I hear you mention the police station?!"
"Oh," He Juan replied with a dry and humorless chuckle. "I’m sorry to hear that."
Jia Molei’s brows knitted as he gave He Juan a once-over. He then glanced at Mu Yuze who was so silent that he almost merged with the background and a subtle understanding flashed across his eyes. Even then, he was unable to soften his mouth at all and gave a harsh sneer. "Five minutes. I don’t want to know what’s going on between the two of you, but if you don’t come in within five minutes, I will fucking drive away without you." After throwing that sentence, he rounded the car and slipped into his car that was parked right beside Mu Yuze’s, leaving the other two alone.
The atmosphere between them was as bleak as the gloomy night sky, carrying with it the bitter chill of wind that could seep into flesh and bones.
He Juan waited and waited, and when he saw that Mu Yuze did not show any signs of talking, he finally could not endure it anymore. Plastering the most sincere smile on his face, he asked softly, "Mu Yuze, do you have something to explain?"
Mu Yuze’s heart gave a little jolt. Mu Yuze... Juan-gege had just called him ’Mu Yuze’.
He Juan had almost never addressed him by his full name unless he was dead serious. Mu Yuze swallowed hard and his mind continuously sent off loud alarm bells once he saw the Alpha approached him step by step – warning him of the danger that might come. However, he did not back away and instead, rooted his feet in place as He Juan’s taller and broader frame loomed over him. He lifted his eyelids to look at He Juan’s gorgeous face and stated in a firm tone, "I don’t have anything to explain."
He Juan was angered to the point of laughing. Deep and smooth laughter rumbled out of his throat. Then without any warning, he slammed his fist on the hood of the car and trapped Mu Yuze in his arms. "Really? You don’t?" His voice was oh so soft, silken yet dangerous at the same time.
The anger, irritation and gloominess in his heart was rapidly spiraling out of control. Along the way, he had been telling himself: be patient He Juan... you can’t lose your temper on your omega. He is the innocent party here!
But in the end, he could not do it. He just couldn’t. Oh God... he did not even realize how petty he was until today. He had barely kept it together when Mu Yuze talked about his first love simply because he could tell how important that figure was to Mu Yuze, but now... when he found out there was another alpha in Mu Yuze’s past, he could not control the maddening jealousy in his heart.
He admitted it, he was just this petty and childish. He could not tolerate how Mu Yuze protected this alpha’s identity. More than that, he could not tolerate the fact that Mu Yuze’s heart still retained that alpha’s shadow! Whenever he recalled Mu Yuze’s ghastly pale face and the flash of fear in his eyes, the wild beast in his heart thrashed wildly and let out a raging roar as it demanded lives. The blood in his body simmered in rage and the smile on his face faded oh so slowly until it vanished without a trace. Like this, the aggression on his features was brought to the extreme, causing Mu Yuze’s knees to tremble ever so slightly.
It was... insane! Juan-gege had not even let out his pheromones yet and he was already... the cell in his entire body was already clamoring for him to submit and surrender! Mu Yuze clenched his fists as he fought to keep his chin high in the air. Their gazes collided in such close proximity, sending off sparks and heated electricity.
"I don’t have anything to explain," Mu Yuze stated word by word, causing He Juan’s silver eyes to darken. Before He Juan could explode in anger, he added, "... because there is really no need at all. Juan-gege, there is nothing between that Alpha and I."
He Juan was startled. Nothing? Then why did he react like—
Mu Yuze leaned forward to whisper something into He Juan’s ear. His voice was soft, so faint that it was almost drowned by the gust of wind that fleeted by. Yet it traveled into He Juan’s ear akin to a thunderclap amid clear summer day, freezing him on the spot.
After saying what he had to say, Mu Yuze did not dare to look He Juan in the eye anymore. He glanced at his phone and saw that it was about time. "I have to return. Be careful on your way home and send me a voice note when you arrive." Taking advantage of the time when He Juan had not regained his senses yet, Mu Yuze ducked his head and slipped away from the gap under He Juan’s arm.
In a blink of an eye, he had rushed into the police station and disappeared from He Juan’s sight.
"Done talking?" Jia Molei turned off his phone and placed it on the dashboard when He Juan slid into the shotgun seat.
He Juan let out a distracted hum. Mu Yuze’s earlier sentence reverberated in his mind over and over again, causing heat to crawl up his neck.
— "It’s just... you look so hot when you get jealous, Juan-gege. I can’t resist playing this petty trick on you. You told me... you will welcome them anytime, right?"
