Chapter 125: A Trip Just For Us

After they agreed not to postpone having a child any longer, Damon finally stopped resisting Charlotte’s offer to help him through his rut cycle.

Since the house was always too crowded with his family members, Damon usually retreated to his private villa, a secluded place nestled between the forest and the mountains, far from the noise and far from curious eyes.

It was the only place where he could endure his rut in peace.

But this time, he didn’t go alone because Charlotte would come with him.

"Auntie Charlotte, where are you going?" asked Haven, her voice full of curiosity as she saw Charlotte and Damon carrying their suitcases.

Charlotte exchanged a quick glance with Vera, who was standing nearby with a knowing smile.

"We’re ... just going on a little trip!" Charlotte said, crouching down to meet Haven’s curious gaze. "We’ve been working so hard lately, so we thought it’d be nice to go somewhere quiet for a while."

"Oh! So it’s a vacation?" Haven’s eyes sparkled with excitement. "Can I go too?"

Charlotte looked toward Vera again, silently asking for help.

"You can’t go with them, sweetheart," Vera said gently as she crouched beside her daughter. "Auntie Charlotte and Uncle Damon really need some time to rest. They won’t be bringing anyone else with them, okay?"

"I promise I won’t be noisy!" Haven pleaded, still trying to convince them.

Even though her expression was almost too adorable to resist, Charlotte had to stay firm.

There was no way she could let a little girl tag along when most of what she and Damon were going to do at the villa ... involved sex. A lot of it.

"Come on now, don’t bother your uncle and auntie like that!" Louis scooped Haven up in his arms and pointed her toward Diana, who was lounging in the living room. "You can still play with Auntie Diana. She doesn’t have a boyfriend or a husband, so she’ll be sad if you leave her alone."

"Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?!" Diana snapped, clearly offended. She sat up straighter, throwing Louis a glare. "Who says I need a husband?!"

Louis shrugged with a playful grin. "Hey, some people like companionship."

"Oh please," Diana rolled her eyes. "Unlike some people, I’m perfectly happy without one."

Haven giggled and wriggled out of her dad’s arms, running toward Diana. "It’s okay, Auntie Diana! I’ll be your boyfriend until you find a real one!"

Diana blinked in surprise, then burst out laughing. "Well aren’t you the sweetest little heartbreaker?"

Meanwhile, Charlotte giggled as she watched the adorable exchange. Then she turned to Vera and said, "We’ll be back by next week at the latest."

Vera waved a hand dismissively. "Oh, just take your time," she said with a mischievous grin. Then she nudged Charlotte playfully and added, "You know ... I slipped a few pieces of lingerie into the car for you."

Charlotte’s eyes widened in surprise. "When did you even put them in there?" she whispered, half-scandalized.

Vera leaned in, looking smug. "While you and Damon were busy packing. You’re welcome."

Charlotte groaned softly and covered her face with both hands. "Veraaa ..."

"What?" Vera laughed. "Trust me, you’ll thank me later."

Damon, still standing by the door, raised an eyebrow at the two whispering women. "Should I be worried?"

Charlotte cleared her throat and gave him an innocent smile. "Nope. Not at all."

Damon tilted his head, still clueless about what they had been whispering about. But since Charlotte was already walking toward him with that sweet, innocent smile on her face, he decided not to press the issue.

"Are you ready to go now?" he asked, offering his hand to her.

Charlotte nodded, slipping her fingers into his with ease. "More than ready."

They didn’t waste a second. As soon as they were outside, they loaded their luggage into the car together, moving like a well-practiced team.

"Please take care of the pack while I’m gone," Damon said to Theodore.

Theodore nodded. "Don’t worry, Alpha. I’ll protect the pack with everything I’ve got."

Damon gave him a few firm pats on the shoulder, a silent gesture of thanks, before turning to open the car door for Charlotte.

He made sure she was comfortably seated before closing the door gently.

They didn’t want anyone interrupting their little vacation, so Damon insisted on driving himself.

There were no guards, no escorts, no distractions, just the two of them.

As he started the engine and pulled out of the driveway, Charlotte looked over at him with a soft smile. "Let’s go."

Damon reached over and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "Thank you for coming with me."

Charlotte smiled and leaned slightly toward him. "Always."

The drive was peaceful, filled only with the sound of the engine and the occasional rustle of trees as the road curved through the forest.

When they arrived at the villa, the sun was already beginning to set behind the mountains, casting a golden glow over the secluded property.

Charlotte stepped out of the car and looked around, her eyes wide with awe.

The tall windows glowed under the fading light, and warm golden tones bathed the wooden walls and stone walkways. It wasn’t overly grand, but it had a charm that made her feel instantly at peace.

"I can’t believe you always stayed here alone during your rut," she murmured, running her fingers along the wooden railing of the porch. "It feels too quiet."

Damon chuckled softly as he brought the last suitcase inside. "That was the point. I didn’t want anyone to see me at my worst."

Charlotte stepped through the doorway, her eyes scanning the space.

The living room was cozy, lit with golden lamps and a crackling fireplace. A vase of fresh flowers sat neatly in the center of the dining table, clearly someone had come ahead of time to prepare it just for them.

"Oh wow," Charlotte said as she opened the fridge. "There’s so much food in here."

Most of the meals were prepped and ready to eat, so they didn’t need to cook anymore. All they had to do was heat them up in the microwave.

But what surprised Charlotte most was the calm she felt seeing all that food.

There was a time when being around so much food made her anxious. The pressure to eat, to finish everything, to look normal in front of others, it used to overwhelm her.

But now? Now, she felt relieved and grateful that they had what they needed.

Damon came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing a soft kiss to the side of her neck, making her shiver.

"We won’t have much time to cook or anything like that," he murmured against her skin. "That’s why I asked them to take care of the food before we arrived."

Charlotte giggled and turned around to face him, resting her hands on his chest. "Your rut hasn’t even started yet, and you’re already acting like you’re in heat."

Damon grinned. "I’m just getting ahead of it. You know ... mentally preparing."

She raised an eyebrow. "Mentally?"

"And maybe physically," he added, pulling her a little closer. "Very soon."

Charlotte laughed, cheeks flushed, heart already racing. "Well then ... I guess I better brace myself."
