Bride To His Darkness-Chapter 371: Nothing To Regret
Chapter 371: Nothing To Regret
During her fall, Samantha had no intention to stop what would happen and blindly accepted her fate—that maybe once she’s gone, all this drama and bloodshed would seize. Everyone would finally return to the kingdom and Marius would trouble no other family of hers, as long as she was gone. All these had happened due to her existence, a lot of sacrifices had been made to keep her at bay, so maybe ending it would be the proper way to solve things.
She would end her existence so things would go back to the way they were.
Closing her eyes, Samantha’s thoughts revolved around sacrificing herself for the greater good, why this would be the better option, however, before she met the ground below, she felt something caress her cheek before smacking her lightly in the face.
"Open your eyes! What are you doing??" Viney’s voice pierced through her consciousness, and her eyes flung open, "master’s child must be protected at all cost, you have to summon your wings and save yourself! Are you really going to let you and your baby die for nothing?"
Panicked Viney.
"Baby?" Samantha’s gaze snapped wide at the plant creature, and she recalled the last gesture Alistair made before vanishing into thin air. She was oblivious to Viney’s attempt to save her fall, and a sudden recognition dawned on her visage.
Was she... is that what the passing out and emotional turmoil was about?
She was... PREGNANT?!!
"Down to Earth!" Viney’s voice tore through her reverie, and she immediately became mindful of her present situation. She looked down to see the ground closing in, and she shook her head. No! How can she... how can she die when there’s a living soul inside of her?
What to do! What to do!
Looking back at the top where Marius must be with Ivan, Samantha pictured herself soaring towards the balcony, where she had fallen from, and there was a sudden burst of adrenaline that made her body quiver mid-air.
She wasn’t going to die!
Instantly, a pair of transparent wings protruded from her back. She gasped from the immense force it had used to awaken itself, and for a split second, she thought she had broken her spine. Fortunately, the pain was fleeting, to her relief, and her wings began to beat mid-air, saving her from plummeting to the hard ground at the nick of time.
There was a strange spark in her system, she felt electrocuted, and watching Marius’s body fade after she made him stab himself with the demonic blade he forged, she felt that his death was too easy, too quick. The image of his withering body reflected in her green orbs, and it was almost hard to believe that that was it.
He’s gone?
She carefully brought herself to a landing atop the balcony, and there was silence. Her wings closed behind her, and she approached the exact spot where she had shattered those symbols... the symbols that were meant to free all the souls Marius had kept trapped within the confine of his domain.
She knelt before the symbol, and when she observed each one closely, her eyes widened in recognition. Each symbol had a striking resemblance to the scars carved on Alistair’s handsome face, and that made her gasp at the revelation. He had once confided in her, when he revealed to her that he was part of Marius’s accomplices, he told her she had no knowledge of the meaning behind his scars, and that she had no right to judge him. Truth is, he has been under Marius’s influence since the day those scars were inflicted upon him, and it made sense why Marius demanded Alistair’s mother to sacrifice him on that day.
"Alistair." Samantha placed her palm to the symbol on the ground, and she hoped he would be free from whatever clutches he must have been placed in. The freedom that was taken away from him, she hoped he would find it wherever he may be, and if he is reborn in the future to come, she prayed that he lives peacefully somewhere, with a family that will love him, and that he gets a brother like Tobias and Ivan in his life again.
Wait... Ivan.
"Ivan?" Realizing at the last minute that she was here with Ivan, Samantha immediately turned around to find Ivan standing just meters away, watching her.
"Ivan!" Samantha exclaimed with joy, feeling a rush of relief flood through her. Without a moment’s hesitation, she hurried towards Ivan, enveloping him in a warm hug. Ivan reciprocated without hesitation, holding her tightly as they stood there, finding solace and healing in each other’s embrace.
"You were watching me? Why didn’t you say anything?" Samantha scolded, tears brimming in her eyes as she pulled away. "I thought something had happened to you. You shouldn’t stay so silent like that." She sounded worried, yet relieved to see him safe and in front of her.
"You seemed busy, how could I dare interrupt." He gently wiped her tears away with his finger, and she smiled, enveloping him in yet another hug.
"But you’re hurt." Her eyes trailed the bloody sign on his lower abdomen, the exact spot Marius had used his horn to brutally penetrate Ivan, and before she could cry, Ivan immediately showed her where he was pierced.
"I’m fine, it’s healed. See?" Raising his shirt slightly, he showed his skin to her. "I’m perfectly fine, just like you, and our baby."
Samantha’s cheeks flushed pink at his last comment. Placing a hand on her flat tummy, she glanced at Ivan, as if still in disbelief. A whirlwind of emotions surged within her—fear and joy mingling in a confusing mix. She looked down at her belly once more, the reality of her pregnancy slowly sinking in.
"I’m... carrying a child?"
"Our child." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Are you happy about this?"
"I have no regrets." He cupped her cheek tenderly and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. "My only wish is that you could have received this news in a safer setting, in a healthier environment, not like this. It makes me wonder why I’ve put you through all of this—"
"Don’t say anything else." She wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on his chest, "you’re happy, I’m happy, we’re both alive, that’s all that matters."
"And let’s not forget your wings." His gaze shifted to her back, but her wings had already retracted and were out of sight.
"Shall we take to the sky together?"
"Yes, but you’re carrying me. Those wings are... uncomfortable." Samantha admitted with a soft smile. In a swift motion, Ivan swept her off her feet and into his arms, cradling her with care and tenderness.
"Hold on tight."
"What happens here?"
"Wanna destroy it before we leave?" Ivan suggested, and Samantha immediately understood the assignment.
